Those two guys suck now compared to when they were in PRIDE.
Pretty much every notable fighter who fought in PRIDE is too old now, but a few still manage to get to the top (Shogun, Rampage, Overeem, Anderson Silva).
Well Anderson and GSP are the only two fighters you can say truly dominated since the Pride purchase, but Rampage beat Lidell, Minotauro united the heavyweight belts. Cro Cop has never been his old self in the cage, but he was great in the Pride and K-1 ropes. Wanderlei has aged considerably, but in his prime he was a beast, and still is. Gomi and Sakaraba were also good. Plus Shogun and Belfort; and the best fighter of all, Fedor Emelianenko. Pride was better.
This is a GREAT example of how to work the body. After a while Sobral couldn't do anything. Getting pounded on the body is worst than a one punch knockout. You wake up the next morning with your entire body black and blue with deep tissue pain. Ouch.

Fedor fought Tim Sylvia and arlovski when they were considered top 5. He beat Rogers when many saw him as top 10. Lost to werdum who's now due to his win and nice record, in many eyes top 10.
Fedor's Judo & Sambo is so good, he took Sobral down like 3-5 times in 10 minutes and the great Gracie JJ Black belt could not do anything to him. Emelianenko is rumoured to be looking for a fight with Overeem and that's about as good as it will get I think.

Brett Rogers is very inexperienced as well compared to Fedor yet he managed to get on top of Fedor and land a couple of shots to the head plus Brett isn't anywhere nearly as well rounded as Cain is and Cain won't gas like Brett did.

He is 6'4" like 265lbs, whereas Velasquez is more like what? 240-245lbs. I know of course strength isn't everything in MMA, but I think with someone as big as Rogers that is the reason he got the advantages on the ground, and Fedor knew this so tried to stand things up.

brett rogers didn't have any advantages on the ground against fedor... Fedor took him down easily, and then went for a kimura and got reversed which happens, especially against big guys. He could've just played it safe like GSP and controll him on the ground, but that's not Fedor.
Same against Werdum, Anderson Silva wouldn't have dove into his guard like Fedor did, Fedor could've just kept it standing and win that way. Fedor's not a coward though like Lesnar, GSP and Silva.

Wow that opening combo looked fucking devestating... This Fedor is the P4P fighter in the world. There wasn't a more powerful fighter in the sport during this time. He paved the way for the real MMA fighters and so many of today's athletes have learned from his example. Don't have to be the biggest/baddest/most rip fighter.

Pretty much every notable fighter who fought in PRIDE is too old now, but a few still manage to get to the top (Shogun, Rampage, Overeem, Anderson Silva).

Well Anderson and GSP are the only two fighters you can say truly dominated since the Pride purchase, but Rampage beat Lidell, Minotauro united the heavyweight belts. Cro Cop has never been his old self in the cage, but he was great in the Pride and K-1 ropes. Wanderlei has aged considerably, but in his prime he was a beast, and still is. Gomi and Sakaraba were also good. Plus Shogun and Belfort; and the best fighter of all, Fedor Emelianenko. Pride was better.

This is a GREAT example of how to work the body. After a while Sobral couldn't do anything. Getting pounded on the body is worst than a one punch knockout. You wake up the next morning with your entire body black and blue with deep tissue pain. Ouch.

Fedor's Judo & Sambo is so good, he took Sobral down like 3-5 times in 10 minutes and the great Gracie JJ Black belt could not do anything to him. The only thing I could say is to repeat the point that Heavyweights like Velasquez, Dos Santos and Lesnar all have RELATIVELY little experience as compared to Emelianenko. Who is much more well-rounded and to be honest, is simply tougher. I dunno, I very much hope to see one of these fights taking place soon but I doubt it will ever happen. Emelianenko is rumoured to be looking for a fight with Overeem and that's about as good as it will get I think.

Brett Rogers is very inexperienced as well compared to Fedor yet he managed to get on top of Fedor and land a couple of shots to the head plus Brett isn't anywhere nearly as well rounded as Cain is and Cain won't gas like Brett did.

@Danielson184 Oh I hadn't heard that. I do agree with your views on Velasquez, but just remember that Brett Rogers is extremely physically strong. He is 6'4" like 265lbs, whereas Velasquez is more like what? 240-245lbs. I know of course strength isn't everything in MMA, but I think with someone as big as Rogers that is the reason he got the advantages on the ground, and Fedor knew this so tried to stand things up.

Brock is 6'3 and walks around at 290 lbs and while he may not be all that good in the striking department he is very good at wrestling and if you think Brett Rogers got advantages on the ground with Fedor just imagine the advantages Brock would have with Fedor on the ground. Turns out Cain Velasquez tore his rotator cuff against Brock and will be out for atleast 4-6 month

brett rogers didn't have any advantages on the ground against fedor... Fedor took him down easily, and then went for a kimura and got reversed which happens, especially against big guys. He could've just played it safe like GSP and controll him on the ground, but that's not Fedor.
Same against Werdum, Anderson Silva wouldn't have dove into his guard like Fedor did, Fedor could've just kept it standing and win that way. Fedor's not a coward though like Lesnar, GSP and Silva.

Then the 2nd time Fedor got Brett on his back Fedor was on top and Brett reversed and ended up on top of Fedor then Fedor attempted a Kimura but FAILED to lock it in then Brett bashed Fedor in the Face a couple times then Fedor tried an armbar and yet again FAILED to lock it in. @Zm3t3k I would say That the best in the UFC is Cain Velasquez & JDS at the Current moment and over in SF I don't really know i'm going to wait until the HW Grand Prix is Over before I say who their best HW is but i'm leaning towards Overeem. I think Fedor's days are over and I can see him pulling out of a fight if they don't do Olympic Style Steroid Tests especially if he has to fight Overeem. M1 & Fedor both have already made comments about supporting it.

@ABM10210 Exactly Keywords "FORMER UFC CHAMPS" Tim Sylvia lost 2 of his last 3 before fighting Fedor, Coleman was 40 years old and was already past his Prime plus he hadn't fought in the UFC in YEARS, Andrei Arlovski was on a roll coming into his fight with Fedor and he was actually outstriking Fedor until he left himself open for Fedor to land a pretty easy punch that ended the fight.

@marchenebury yeah because beating hong man choi, washed up arlovski with no chin, tim sylvia who got raped by mercer in 1 minute, middleweight lindland, inexerienced rogers who almost TKO'd him, then getting choked out in the first round by werdum all of these fights, spaced out over 5 years make you the best. @matwizard It's not Fedor's fault he had to face less than top competition, it's M1 global's for keeping him out of the UFC. Rogers almost TKOing him doesnt mean much as he was on the edge of losing in most of his fights, like when Randleman slamed him on his head and Fedor won. He is nevertheless top 3 and has an unmatched resume over his career. Whether he wins the tournament or not, he is still the greatest MMA heavyweight of all time.

@marchenebury I think the thing you have to remember is that fedor is like the PRESIDENT of m-1 therefore he controls his own destiny. as for the randleman fight, i actually dont think fedor was in THAT much trouble there, it looks like it but the thing is with wrestling slams, you either get totally fucked up or they dont really do much but are dramatic. hell the thing is until 2007 i even used to tell people he was the baddest man on the planet but he slowly started falling off.

@marchenebury it wasnt just in mma, at the same time he started fighting weaker opponents he started doing badly in sambo, losing the world championship, then the series of fights i mentioned. of course fedor still gets tkos and knocks people out as ANY fighter anwhere will tell you an aging fighters last attribute to go is his power. at the end of the day, fedor is failing fast and personally i think bas rutten was the best heavyweight(of all time). 22 fight win streak. El guapo baby.

Bas lost to Ken Shamrock 3 times then finally beat his shitty brother while beating some random asians on that 22 streak. In Fedor's career he lost 1 time. The other was a DQ because of a cut he was dominating. That's 31 wins, against Babalu, Heath Herring, Mark Coleman(3 times), Minotauro Noguiera(twice), Mirko Cro Cop, and Randleman in the first round who Bas beat by split decision.
