The smile states what I could not say out of fear. Interesting that we are having this discussion and Google is leaving China... very interesting. I have a big love for the people of China and I pray for the best for them!
from what I have experienced, China is not that communist. I was born and raised in China, and I came to Canada for education, I am enjoying my life just like what I have enjoyed in China. (Only one thing is very communist, youtube is blocked in CHina). It was only during the period of "culture revilution" China ws truely a communist state. After the reform in 1978, China is no longer communist, Just like many other countries, capitalism and communism are both practiced.
However, on the poltical specturm, China is more communist, but economic wise, It is capitalist. and there are a number of reasons why China can't turn into a capitalist country under current circumstance, otherwise, the America would achieve it's evil plan, LOL. aren't you agree, remember what happened to USSR. anyways, Let's not be that political, hope you enjoyed your stay at CQ, It is my hometown.
John, did you watch my other videos? I made a video of me eating hotpot! Of course I like hotpot! Wo bushi pianzi. Wo xihuan Xiao Fei Yang! (I am not a liar. I like Xiao Fei Yang) Be careful my friend before you say you think you know what an entire country likes and dislikes. That's called stereotyping! Have you ever been to America?
haha~well, Unfortunately I am in America right now, and I can tell you that most people right here doesn't have culture sensitive, maybe just because I'm living in KY,~who knows~~I'm sorry about the stereotyping language I had, I was raised in Chongqing as you know a mono-culture environment.most American mentioned about China, they are not acting nice~just like ur wired act when you talked about our "freedom" monument~is that how you act or how american act? you tell me~
First off, please know that I have a strong love for the people of China. If you watched my other videos then you would see that. The two years I spent in China were amazing and I enjoy hanging out with my Chinese friends here in the US.
Let me ask you... Why do you think I made a face when I mentioned the "Freedom" monument?
Please, 2 more questions: Do you think most Americans agree on the big political and social issues?
Do you think most Chinese agree on the big political issues?
Why do you think I made a face when I mentioned the "Freedom" monument?
you are making value judgement or just been sarcastic about my country's political system, but I wonderd how many chinese history you really know~
Do you think most Americans agree on the big political and social issues?
no, but they do respect each others even they have different opinions. you don't have to like my country's political system, but you need to respect the symbol of my hometown.
just like any people from other world, Chinese have different opinions, however, I believe all Chinese wish China become a more advanced and more developed country, just like they wish they have a nice home~in China, if you visit someone's house and act wired or been sarcastic, they probably gonna give u a hard time~because 面子 is very important for Chinese especially in Chongqing. you spend 2yr in chongqing and nobody told you?
I think you are angry at the USA & I understand that. The USA has made many mistakes. On behalf of all Americans, I sincerely apologize. We are not perfect and continue to make many mistakes. But, there is a difference between the government of the USA and the people of the USA. In China, the Chinese government attempts to make the people and the government seem like the same. I think Beijing does this to make the Chinese people mad at foreigners and ignore the real issues.
To answer your question, yes, I "saved face" while I was in China. I know mianzi is important to Chinese people so I followed the custom. I also saved face because it is illegal to criticize the government... I could have had my Youtube account blocked...heck, I could have been arrested and sent home!
haha~you will not like hotpot I can tell, honestly, even you say it's good~~they put a lot of organ meat into hotpot, americans barely have guts to taste that~~ that's the best part of chongqing food, it's just not for Americans~
Sry SArooikop, just found your comment. Advice... even though you're already there, let me suggest:
1) Take in the culture. Don't just stay at home and watch Western DVDs all the time... Carpe Diem... bicycle in the villages, take photo jounreys, visit your students' families... learn the language.
2) Use Lonely Planet: China - It helped me out time and time again.
3) Forgive yourself and others. China is economically and socially different. Give yourself and the people a break.
Phrydoom, if you will do some reading about western history, you will know that some of the great western cities were smog infested dumps not too long ago. Additionally, each US citizen produces over 4x the amount of CO2 than their Chinese counterpart. Lastly, most of the people living there had no choice in that matter... that's where they happened to be born... so be careful when throwing out a big over-generalization.
what is the weird simle at 0:26 supposed to mean?LMAO
