  • Brasil ensinando o mundo a lutar.

  • eu assisti a luta ja em los angeles no ufc demian maia

  • at least it was easy to tell who was who :)

  • mano esse demian é foda hen

  • Watta beast

  • people often talk about the size difference, but not only that, Gonzaga has incredible technique, this just proves that maia has way better technique as he battled the brute strength AND amazing technique of gonzaga and came out on top.

  • is that gonzaga?

  • @dudeXcore Yea,Gabriel "Napão" Gonzaga fighter of UFC.He is a top BJJ fighter,won the Mundials 2004.

  • Matt Hughes is pretty much black belt level.Maia is on another level of Black Belt though, this guy eats most black belts for breakfast.

  • maia always pulls guard

  • @ernestodeorozco Jiujitsu has 2 routes.....a man who has perfected the guard will be the Hero, while a man who has perfected the mount and controlling top position will be the champion....My instructor informed me of that a week ago, and it is VERY right

  • Are you trying to compair Royce Gracie to Demain Maia right now. Lay off the

glass dick!!! Royce was old and around 170lbs. Maia is younger bigger and no version of Matt Hughes would Sub Maia. He maybe able to hold him down but thats where is ends.

  • @GHRepresent true i wrestled since i was like 6 and i just started bjj and i am getting caught all the time

  • 2 of the most talented grapplers of all time

  • wow .. demian is no joke in his game. amazing

  • bom!

  • bom

  • UFC 102 fight videos and post fight interview in my channel.

  • OH and BTW. dream on if you think you can find an MMA practitioner who can beat Silva on his feat. It will be a jiu jitsu practitioner with good wrestling who beats silva. Maia is perfect. Silva Vs. Maia would be a great fight.

  • Forrest Griffin is gonnna beat Anderson by decision.... mark my words.

  • Guess You Were Wrong.

  • Guess I was wrong, but it's MMA.... no one is right 100% of the time.

  • no i no but u were like mark my words lol.

  • TBH I just wanted to be the one to call a HUGEEEE upset and I thought Forrest had the tools to do it.... good chin[thought] and good combos, strong, tall, reach advantage.... but I was wrong.

  • Chung Le would have an excellent chance of beating Silva on his feet. Same weight class too.

  • chung lee from street fighter?

  • yes that guy was my hero. no one beats his round house

  • Stuff of legends. This is why I love Maia. Giving up 60 lbs to a talented beast of a human being and he wins. Simply amazing. Silva will be dethrowned soon enough...

  • when and if he fights silva, silva will have a significant advantage that gonzaga didn't have here - he can kick him and punch him.

there is no way maia wins in an mma fight

  • silva is a beast but he has lost 4 times. one was because of inexperience in his first fight. two were submission victories and one was a DQ. lutter gave silva the fits by pulling guard, mounting and ground and pound until he escaped. silva refused to go to the ground until lutter took him down again but made a silly mistake by leaving his head in and taped to the elbows. and lutter is no where near the bjj level of maia. imagine what maia could do to him. it would be a good fight but maia wins

  • like i said an "mma fight" having a high degree of skill in BJJ isnt enough anymore. when royce gracie was kicking ass years ago, no one knew what BJJ was, not it is simply not enough. silva would do all he can to keep the fight standing, and maia is not in the same universe is striking skill, so silva would knock him out. and besides, who has maia beat on slivas level??

by no means do i think silva is invincible, but i just don think maia is the guy to beat him

  • Maia is the guy to beat him. Excellent Jiu Jitsu, and respectable stand up. And please you MMA wannabe noob, Royce Gracie is nothing compared to Maia. Maia would own Gracie on the ground, and on his feet. Secondly Maia trains in striking, not to say he can take anderson silva, no sir, he'd get killed on his feet, but he does have the skills to out do silva on the ground. Maia is one of the greatest submission artists to apply Jiu Jitsu to MMA. ANd thats what you need to beat silva.

  • if you knew how to read, you would have understood my point about royce. i am not saying he is better than maia, my point is that everyone thinks that because maia has excellent BJJ, that is about all it would take to beat silva. back then when royce was fighting, (and i was watching it back then, so i am no noob so fuck u) his bjj alone was effective because no one knew what it was. now, that alone is not enough. spider will keep the fight standing and KO maia.

  • Ok. Firstly just cuz you wear a tap out shirt on your way to the mall, watched some jiu jitsu instructionals on you tube, and watch the ultimate fighter, doesnt NOT make you a noob. If anything if exemplifies your Noobness. Maia, firstly doesnt practice the same Jiu Jitsu Royce does. If you practiced BJJ you would know that. Royce still sticks to the archaic Gracie style of teaching and practice, Maia practices the more pragmatic Brazillian Jiu Jitsu. Secondly your a noob. deal with it.

  • what's the difference between Royces BJJ and Maias BJJ?

  • Royce Gracie is a very traditional GJJ practitioner, he relies on his opponents to make mistakes (that he cleverly goads them into) and capitolizes on that. Whereas Maia is a very aggressive BJJ practitioner who more or less can force you into a position you don't want to be in. Demian also practiced alot of Judo in his past and utilizes those roots into his BJJ. Hope this answers your question adequately =)

  • that just sounds like a relaxed/weaker guy vs a stronger/good cardio guy in terms of BJJ.

When competitively grappling or sparring MMA, who doesn't want to try force positions on the other guy? It's all about your strength and ability to consistently being aggressive(very tiring).

For me, I'm more of the weaker guys with not great cardio so I have to capitalize on mistakes against the better athletes, unless I'm way more technical than them

  • very well said. a lot of different styles of jiu jitsu. good man. do you train?

  • oh yes and if maia can't get him down and keep him down, which he won't, he is DEAD

  • Fool. Leites, who is easily outclassed by Maia in so many different levels, not just in BJJ but in striking, wrestling, and MMA application as well, took silva down. What makes you think Maia cant? Listen buddy, go grab a beer, watch all the UFC you want, and pretend to be tough infront of the ladies. But please, stop posting your noob comments on You Tube.

  • Your obsession with phantom being a noob or not and your other comments make me think that it may be you who wears Tapout to the mall.

Maia is an undoubtedly good Jiu Jitsu player but he doesn't have the takedown ability necessary to get Anderson to the gound. To bring up Leites is ridiculous. Maia may be better but Anderson could have finished Leites in the first two minutes and can and will do the same thing to Maia.

If, BIG IF, Maia can get him down and keep him there he'll dominate.

  • Aight. Why does he have to take him down? Maia is a world class black belt. He can always Uchi Mata him, Harai him, even trip him. All it takes is a single underhook. And dont bring up that "Silva is a beast in the clinch" The mechanics behind the plum are far different from the single underhook. Apart from that, Maia has an excellent single leg and a fantastic double leg.

  • @bradman83 It may happen this weekend. I hope Demian has worked on his stand up.

  • @bradman83 Nice prediction!!!

  • @bradman83 hahahaha but he wasnt though...

  • @bradman83 :( one could h ave only wished

  • @bradman83 FAG. i like maia too, but you're a shit talking fag

  • @bradman83 Anderson Silva? Do you want him dethroned? If so, why? Or do you just like to say dethroned? Dethroned is a pretty cool word but not as cool as having Anderson Silva being the motherfucking champ, SON!

  • peso absoluto

  • Why are they fighting? Why cant they just watch the game!!

  • alguem sabe qual era o peso dos dois nessa luta?

  • yea they still fight bbj tournaments

  • nah bj penn and thalas leites have better jiu jitsue than gonzaga, demian maia is for sure the best bjj guy in the ufc though.

  • two guys with the best jiu jitsu in the ufc right now.

  • thats the problem with crushes in compatition you'll get guys that won't tap to pain alone. there has to be risk of injury or a choke for a tap it seems. good job on maia's part.

  • Can you do judo throws in tournaments like their in?

  • Yeah, you just see less of them due to the rules favoring submissions over any other attack. Some bjj players like to skip the standing game by pulling guard and attacking from there.

  • Did someone in the comments seriously say Fedor doesn't have a great guard?

    Wow. Idiot.

This was a good match... nice calf slicer attempt by Napao, I think he used all his energy on that.

  • Question: are Maia and Gonzaga still competing in jiu-jitsu tournys? I have heard that the UFC restricts their fighters from participating in grappling events. If so it is a damn shame

  • there is no wieght classes in the open stuff, gg vs matt hughes is very likely happend... ive seen tito vs hughes, and i think genki sudo vs ricco

  • matt hughes? i think you are mistaken, they are like 80lbs difference!

  • de novo, parabens demian. vencer o jaca e o napao... muito bom!

  • Napao loses by points here, he was submitted by Demian by triangle in the 2006 Paulista Circuit. He lost to Werdum by TKO in MMA, but I never heard of him being submitted by him. He's never competed against or been submitted by Matt Hughes.

  • He was also submitted pretty quickly by Xande Ribeiro in ADCC 2005.

  • Matt Hughes?

  • This is 1 of 3 submission losses Gonzaga has. The other 2 are to Fabricio Werdum and Matt Hughes

  • I'm know he was submitted by Xandre Ribeiro and he has probably been submitted many times in the past, just like every other grappler.

  • did you say matt hughes??how did those two meet, matt is ww and gonzaga is a hw

  • matt hughs , are u out of your mind. no wrestler will submitt a bjj black belt. let alone matt huges. what are u smoking ? It must be reall good.

  • hahaha ...

it will be like crocop submitting barnett

  • ricco rodriguez junior college national champ in wrestling, submitted rodrigo nogeuira

  • ricco rodriguez is a bjj black belt..

  • was he at the time? still while versed in submissions he hardly has a bjj roll. Barnett, fedor, and sakuraba, are perfect examples of this. Fedor and barnett specifically don't have great guards when compared to guys like mino nog. But their subs are just as dangerous.

  • yes, yes you do have a point but did you watch the match? here it is /watch?v=iyvWTlTKwys its good watch it then talk about his guard or his ground game etc. you did make a great point their though. but he has one :)

  • @GHRepresent ... matt hughs vs royce gracies ufc 60 ... mister wrestler decided to let go off an armlock for not wanting to break mister bjj black belts arm

  • @flatlinerking well that one and what again. off couse once in a while it will happen but for the most part pure wrestlers don't have anything bjj guys. matt hughes has studied jiujitsu.

  • @flatlinerking yeah but mister wrestler is also a brown belt in bjj with a shitload of grapling expirience

  • @sumoshinobi Matt Hughes is a Brown Belt in BJJ? i doubt Matt Hughes has ever put on a gi, and of course his had a shitload of grappling experience, his a NCAA Division 1 wrestler

in all seriousness though he has implemented bjj into his wrestling as part of his mma training, but he has never been graded

  • @flatlinerking brown belt in no gi

  • @sumoshinobi No such thing as belts in no gi.

  • @Backslapped yes there are rashad evans has a black belt in it matt hughes has a brown belt in it dan hardy has a purple belt

  • @sumoshinobi where did you hear this, belt goes hand in hand with a gi, can't wear a gi without a belt, and a belt goes nowhere without a gi

on top of been told i couldn't get graded unless i did traditional bjj

and its been mentioned that Matt Hughes doesn't have a grade in bjj, but that he is up there with the black belts ... but thats not to say he didn't dominate using his wrestling

  • @flatlinerking 10 th planet jiu jitsu is no gi

  • @sumoshinobi it is, they teach no gi, but you only get graded on your gi work, which is mandatory...you still need to learn those basics before you can begin work on 10th planet

  • @flatlinerking no a lot of guys begin training 10 p jiu jitsu with 0 expierience in gi

  • @sumoshinobi The 10th Planet System uses shirts as a visual of that persons skill I'm pretty sure to go along with the gi work. I know plenty of "blue shirts" in 10thplanet

  • @GHRepresent just so you kno... matt hughes... he could have broke royce's arm with a straight armbar...

  • @GHRepresent Matt Hughes could have snapped Royce Gracies arm in an armbar but decided to let it go.

  • Comment removed

  • @GHRepresent Ahahahhaha oh Almeida. Obviously, Hughes dropped him first and I doubt he would've submitted him but for it.

I hate Matt Hughes too so it is the saddest thing. :(

  • @GHRepresent HAHAH REALLY?!

  • @GHRepresent

Now you look pretty stupid when he just put Ricardo Almeida to sleep, huh?

  • @920802 i mean think about what u are saying. it might happen once maybe twice but 9 out of 10 times a wrestler won't submit a bjj black belt. in this case ricardo almeida was already out from the punch. It's not like matt maneuverd him into that position technically, he just bum rashed him like a typical wreslter and got it the choke when ricardo was almost out. nothing impressed me about that except hughe's physical strength.

  • @GHRepresent

Of course a guy that has practiced chokes and joint manipulations for years will win against a guy who has never trained, Im not stupid. I was just pointing it out... Cause Matt Hughes did choke Almeida out

  • @GHRepresent well you can tell this comment is 2 years old

  • @GHRepresent Oh like Matt hughes couldn't submitt Ricardo Almeida ? : D I'm just saying :DD

  • @matzkup matt hughes had a perfect armbar on royce gracie and still couldnt tap him out. dipshit.

  • @EntroJERKtv I never said he could? =) I said it is possible for a wrestler to tapout a blackbelt (very rare but still). But yeah matt hughes is a very good at bjj too so that might explain it . and yeah thanks for the hate :)

  • @matzkup

matt hughs is more along the lines of a weak purple belt... i dont think his bjj is good. i think his wrestling is good, but dont confuse it with bjj

  • @EntroJERKtv He let go because he didn't want to break Royce's arm. Anyways, Maia is beast.

  • @GHRepresent almeida

  • @GHRepresent ........

  • @GHRepresent ha, and about 2 years later, Matt Hughes chokes out a BJJ black belt with a wrestling move of all things. Ouch.

  • @GHRepresent hahaha now it looks funny as Hughes submited Almeida :D

  • @GHRepresent matt did submit a bjj black belt

  • @GHRepresent ROFL Matt Hughes submitted the BJJ black belt Almeida with a wrestling move! :D:D

  • @yrrahyrrah so what? happens once in a blue moon. you have bjj guy who takedwon a wrestler b4. but for the most part , it doesn't happen. and it's not like matt hughes hasn't been studying bjj.

  • @GHRepresent

Yeah but it's so ironic because you so confidently stated that a wrestler like Matt Hughes will NEVER submit a BJJ black belt. And that's exactly what happened.. And he used an illegal wrestling move! Rofl.

  • @yrrahyrrah didnt hughes beat bj penn by tko ? Which without trying to take away from an mma idol like matt hughes , he fought a unfit , waster BJ penn who was unmotivated to win sadly. Hughes told joe rogan after he wished bj was in shape for that fight cause he was looking to go 5 rounds if my memory is correct :P

  • @xGLmedia Oh, I wasn't talking about BJ Penn. I was talking about Ricardo Almeida :)

The fight happened about 6 months ago. Hughes submitted the black belt in Almeida with a front choke he learned in wrestling :)

But the Penn - Hughes trilogy is epic indeed. Penn won 2-1

  • @yrrahyrrah

lol he submit GSP via armbar in the last second of round one. and gsp is a bjj black belt

  • @TheTriangularSquare Is GSP a BJJ black belt? He looks like a boring wrestler to me :)

  • @yrrahyrrah

he is a blackbelt under Roger Gracie i think. but i know its someone of the gracie family

  • @TheTriangularSquare

Yes, I've seen him train with Gracie's, but didn't know he was a blackbelt. Oh well, not a top level black belt :)

  • @yrrahyrrah

thats true. if a TOP GRAPPLER who is only on JJ based unlike jake shields he will have many problems on his back cuz his JJ off his back sucks. he is just a wrestler with ( for a kyokushin karate blackbelt) really weak stand up or kicks. they only look good but they are weak as fuck. hes only outboxing and outwrestling anybody thats all just a boring fighter who hasn't finished fights for a while. im hoping that silva is going to upset him.

  • @TheTriangularSquare He out struck and dropped Alves (and every other opponent)! GSPs striking isnt at the level of Anderson but its still great. And you clearly have little to no understanding about BJJ or grappling. And Silva winning wouldnt be an upset dumbass

  • @TheTriangularSquare renzo not roger, roger got his bb from renzo aswel

  • @yrrahyrrah Do you know why he looks like a boring wrestler to you? Because you have ZERO understanding of BJJ! You think BJJ is just about subs. GSP transitions are second to none (a huge part of BJJ). He also has great sweeps and reversals

  • @ben1ben2ben1 Pfft. BJJ is all about submitting your opponent. What's the point of laying on top if you can't submit your opponent? He's just a wrestler in my eyes, until he starts submitting people.

  • @yrrahyrrah BJJ is not just about subbing people! You are just proving your ignorance. And GSP has subbed 5 people. Gaurd passing and sweeps are wrestling? If you think he is boring thats fine, not everyone has to like his style. But to say he is just a wrestler makes you look stupid to more educated fans

  • @ben1ben2ben1 You call yourself an educated fan because joe rogan says "beautiful jiu-jitsu" whenever GSP passes guard? I couldn't care less about a guard pass if he doens't do anything with it. Be it bjj, sambo, judo or catch wrestling, the objective is to submit your opponent. Passing guard is just a step on the way. Sure, 5 submissions, but the last one was 8 fights ago....

  • @yrrahyrrah Ok so you think he is boring and needs to finish more people thats fine. But to say he is just a boring wrestler makes you lose any credibility. And BJJ IS NOT just about subbing your opponent. It was invented to CONTROL larger opponents. Some thing GSP does great even if its "boring". Calling someone just a wrestler is like saying someone who throws kicks and knees is just a boxer. And he would have subbed Hardy (even if hardy sucks) but Hardy refused to tap so he let go

  • @ben1ben2ben1 Ok, let me rephrase if you insist..! GSP is a boring wrestler and BJJ-artist, but he can't finish his fights! And exactly, Hardy sucks. He only has standup, and his standup isn't even world class.. I have no idea why he got a title shot in the first place. Even though I say this, I'll always tune in to watch any GSP fight. :p

  • @yrrahyrrah Ok thats fine. If you think he is boring then thats your opinion. Saying he is boring is better then making an uninformed untrue statement like he is just a wrestler. .

  • @ben1ben2ben1 You still have to admit that he's mostly a wrestler.

  • @yrrahyrrah Besides the double leg. What wrestling moves does he use? It seems to me like you have no fucking clue what a wrestler does (besides the double leg), or a BJJ practitioner does (besides subs). I feel sorry for you. Trying to argue something you clearly have no understanding about. GSP works form SIDE CONTROL for the most part. THAT IS NOT A WRESTLING POSITION. So no he isnt mostly a wrestler! Learn your shit

  • @ben1ben2ben1 Dude, you have some assimilation issues. :D Are you GSP? He uses the most effective wrestling techniques. He takes people down. The general word for that is wrestling. He takes people down and holds them down. Call it whatever, that's what he does. He even considered joining the canadian olympic wrestling team. Not jiu-jitsu, not kickboxing. Wrestling. Ask him, i'm sure he'll say wrestling is his strongest point. All analysts say that. Kenny Florian for example, who he trains with.

  • @yrrahyrrah and Tiago Alves kill the wrestling with the flying knee .... kkkkk

  • where are you getting this from dude? my instructor tapped him & he loses this one by points & ive never heard of him fighting matt hughes
