3:40-Killer breakdown/ bridge!!! His Name is Boosty (so is my little cousin from Louisiana) We Always Want Bootsy To Bring It, Like Only Bootsy Can Bring It. Straight from the The James Brown School of Super Heavy Funk and Alumni Extraodinare of P Funk University.
Claypool has taken such an undeniable amount of influence from Graham Central Station era Larry Graham. Its his characters, vocals and love of fishing that sets him apart for me. Buckethead iscool.. but Mr. Shider is on guitar and thats cool. I don't think he gets the guitar credit he deserves... then again he played with Eddie Hazel and Blackbyrd.. not to mention Mike Hampton.... easy to get lost in the shuffle... thankfully he gets credit for his vocals and diaper.
Claypool is Claypool. Bootsy is the man. Claypool does not have the funk pedigree that Bootsy has. There is no comparison. Hell I can play like Claypool.
@MikleShnikle I've only seen guthrie demonstrating his suhr guitars. Pretty cool as an "overall guitarist" but I'm not feeling him as a funk guitarist. We should take him out and teach him to dance so he can "swang"
i've only seen him demonstrating his suhr guitars so i can't give mr govan a fitting review. i can safely say that he appeared to be a good "overall" guitarist. not thinking i can say he's funky. we better take him out and teach him to dance so he can "swang"
I know I'm going to get a shit load of crap for this comment. But, I feel like I'm watching a black KKK meeting. I love Bootsy Collins but, I can't help but thing this. Maybe it's Bootsy's Hat.
@fobsternd Are you familiar with a project called Praxis? Came out around 1990 I think. Bootsie and Buckethead ripping shit up on that cd. Check it out if you haven't yet. Lovely frequencies on that disc!
If more people had this philosophy we wouldnt have these silly discussions about who is the best at whatever, just enjoy it for what it is!! Nuff Said!!

Great clip. Now look at "Oz WCW Debut " and note the costume similarities. One is a singer. The other, a wrestler. Both are entertainers.
