I have an AVT50 head with a Peavey cab and when i added a EQ, and an overdrive pedal (I use a MXR classic OD, a Delta OD, and a Boss Power Stack depending on distortion level I'm looking for) this thing really came to life. The EQ pedal really gives this amp a ton of depth.
@h2ogunmaet these cabs sound like shit. Look for a nice v30 or greenback loaded cab on the web, they come pretty cheap. I see alot of 1960's going for $350
what an avt is is an that usees a preamp tube on the out put of the preamp meaning its still solidstae distortion coming from the op amps and the preamp tube shapes the clipping
I dont know if it will hurt it. It most likely wont as long as the ohms match, but it wont be able to produce the tones you would want. Its not built for the dynamic range of the class A.
@theboywhocantollie The mg cab is designed for Solid state. You can get a really nice used 1960/jcm 900 marshall cab for the price of a new mg cab anyday if you prefer the Marshall tone.
you can use any head with any cab, but its better to have the head maching the cab if u get me, the mg412 is supossed to be used with the mg100dfx but is can be used with anything hope this helpes
Thats not ur pre amp tube!!!! Thats the cooling fan, mine did the same thing,I took the cover off the back and saw the fan bearings were making the noise, easy fix just replace the fan...it plugs right into the circuit board. And tell ur tech buddy that its not the tubes;-)
i had an avt50 going through a fender.m80.4-12 and it was baddass 4 death metal it was louder and and cleaner with alot of distortion than his vavlesatate hole stack
no you don't.. You can run it into an "attenuator" (limiter) and then use the output of the attenuator, commonly knows as a "hotplate" and run it into your mixer, stereo etc.
damn dude i did not no that... in that case does it still sound like a all tube marshall cause i have never played with an amp with just a powere tube
thats not a tube sound its the fan over the solid state power amp.. had one back in the day and blew the power amp. i dont know why i bothered fixing it but i did and a week later?... you guessed it.
why get a head that is a mix between solid sate and tube???? go all tube or go home. marshall jcm 2000! and ditch the mg cab. if you love marshall that much get the 1960s cab..... or if you just want the best cab for the job go Orange.
hmm...why do u think they make solid state amps or hybrids??? i wooonder.........hmm....maaaybe...KUS THEYR CHEAPER!!!??!? wow like seriously..not anyone can spend $3000 on an amp....thats what the avt series is for...they sound better than solid states but theyr still nto as good as tubes..and theyr alot cheaper
hey guys im thinking of getting this amp over in my town, ive got a 120 watt 2x10 line 6 spider. i lose most of my low end when i turn up past 12 o clock. now i realize this is only 50 watts but the argument of watts vs actually how load an amp gets is a dispute. so if someone could just tell me if this setup would be louder then mine and give me that low end to where i want to turn it up
Horses for couses they say. Valve isnt always better. Dime Bag used Solid state Randall amps all the way through his career with Pantera, Static X used solid state Marshall heads for a while, Meshuggah use solid state Line 6 Vetta Heads. It all depends on what tone you want.

DO NOT BUY! That noise is a fan problem not a tube problem. I'm surprized this so-called "tech" couldn't figure it out. If it's not fixed the amp will overheat and will no longer work.
NOTE: The microphone I was using is extremely cheap, so at loud volumes (since I was playing the amp slightly loud right in front of my cheap microphone) distorts the sound. Sorry the microphone doesn't do the amp justice.
shit deal

some people can't afford a tube amp or don't want to put up with maintaining them. Or have neighbours like mine >.>
