  • dang cierra is hella real!

  • That's foolishness we as black people always divide over stupidness

  • If you've seen the movie school daze by Spike Lee, you would see that it was the Jiggaboos (Deltas and Zetas) vs the Wannabes (AKAs). It personally doesn't make sense to me, but the fact that these ladies are acting like this toward each other, is kind of defeating the purpose of these organizations.

  • absolutely love this !!1

  • Very well done Ladies!

Surprisingly, I've never heard this story before.

One of the things I always explain to people is that there is an overriding sense of Fraternity shared among all Black Greek Letter Organizations post-graduation.

I have a similar bond as you two. My favorite Co-Workers are all Omegas [Ques]. As a Kappa [NUPE] we shared an instant camaraderie.

The scope of BGLOs expands exponentially once you enter the real world, and provides a privileged advantage.

  • This is a great video! I'm not a part of any greek organizations but people do seem to notice the negatives before the positive. i love the way u guys made this into a video!! :)

  • “Question: What is the ultimate goal, then?

Answer: Wisdom! The college educated woman seeks to become wise rather than smart. That is

why Minerva, the Goddess of Wisdom, is our sorority mentor.”

(Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Grand Chapter, Membership Intake Program, 1990, p. 106)

  • Well said ladies.

  • I dont know how these two groups can "not" like each other and still fulfill the goals in their missions which includes "providing solutions in their communities" and "promoting unity and friendship among college women". These statements were pulled out of the two organizations mission statements found on their websites. Hmm...

  • I attended Hampton U and the AKA'a and Delta's all got along it was great. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. Spring 87, However, my line name was posion ivy due the fact that all my friends were AKA's. Now that I am 25 years into it, I cannot even imagine being any animosity between sisters.

  • AWESOMENESS!! THis video is total awesomeness!!

  • JUST LOOOVE the point you lovely ladies are getting across. However( just to challenge you a bit) I wish people would be a little more realistic in HOW they put such points across. You can't say that "at the end of the day all orgs are businesses and all do good work" then turn around and say "i chose which was best for me coz I'd be no good in the other orgs."

  • LETS GET DOWN TO THE REAL FACTS- STEREOTYPES!!... Lets face it- It is what is first shown to you on that campus. It is what first caught your eye in that probate, step show, yard show…et.c- unfortunately, this is how most of the orgs choose to introduce themselves to students- instead of a professional seminar as most other “Businesses” would.

  • We’re not blind, just like we judge other things in in life which give impressions –stereotypes create impressions and they are what gives you a first feel to what breed of people are in that organization. It lets you know whether you would or would not like to PLAY into that stereotype later.... yes.. whether you have the excuse that doing so on stage is “just for show”- you forget that that "SHOW" is when you represent your SORORITY

  • Ask yourself- Does your sorority, which your founders have fought hard to create, deserve to be paraded to the public as arrogant, ghetto, conceded etc... or whatever the stereotype may be which YOU play into once on that stage??. Its not good enough to just say thats just a mask- THAT’s an excuse! (and you know what THAT is..lol) Those "shows" are when you present yourselves to those who may have interest in joining your sorority or fraternity.

  • If you can manage to first show yourself to students professionally AS a business before saying “ok… now you can see us let our hair down once in while but still be respectable—then great!! But as I said, unfortunately most students see the negative side first and see it more often that the good. Perhaps students need to be more involved in the good things the organization does- there‘s no better way of showing to others the truth of what good you do.

  • Another thing about the excuse of “the "show”…its not the person who partys, drinks and fornicates on Saturday and then goes to church the next day who gets respect- its the person who can maintain her virtues wherever and with whomever she is- continuously rising above influence or compliance to do what everyone else does just because of the "thats just what we do" attitude.

  • I'm not saying we should all be saints- we’re not perfect. People will always want to feel they belong to something and they’ll do things to fit in and bond with one another- sometimes in good ways, and sometimes in bad stereotypical ways. All I'm saying is that I wish people would be a little more open and honest when discussing such an issue of stereotypes. The only person who can claim to be truly colour-blind …is the blind. (..and dogs...jk..lol)

  • Turning on and off your Delta or AKA persona is unbelievalbe! I'm sorry, but you are who you are and when you are on stage it's NOT a persona or a alter ego your are portraying for your org....IT'S REALLY YOU! In general, people need to own up to who they really are! If you "play" a vain, stuck up pretty girl on stage, that's who you are in real life. Turning it on and off like a switch just doesn't make sense! If that's the case, all the BGLO members should be high paid actors/actresses!

  • and why when someppl pldge and its like when they get in they act different ???

  • im so happy that ya"ll did this video because i want to pledge and my good friend want to pledge aka and i want to pledge delta and she was like we cant talk ..i just thought it was stupid

  • Well honestly you had me until the part of “Best of Both Worlds”…As a Man of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, I feel….no…I KNOW that I have the Best on my side and those are the Lovely Ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. Sorry I just had to make a correction. But of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

  • So glad someone said this! My mom wants to be a Delta and if and when she does it, I will wear my AKA pin proud and I will cheer her on!!!! We have to come together as a ppl instead of letting colors tear us apart.

  • thank you so much for this video, i know that deltas and akas can't hate each other as much as many people make it seem. doing my research i wanted to make sure that this isn't true because like you said many people won't join because of the disliking and fighting and some people (like me) do not fight over little things like that. so thank you ladies so much!!!! i'm so glad i saw this. =)

  • 4 people accidentally missed the like button, but we've learned from this video not to judge you.

  • Every school needs this video

  • Acrimonious comments, behaviours and/or attitudes are anti -prodructive representing another device used to separate us as a people. 29 yearsDST

  • @hallknowles Absolutely true!!! AKA17yearsStrong with some cool DST in my realm of friends :)

  • This is lovely :)

  • I wish you both could tell the one's here at my school!!!!

  • Whenever I see sorors that fight just because of letters I'm shamed they were even let into either organization! We're all intelligent, beautiful women with the same purpose. You make your choice for your personal reasons and if you're happy with that choice there is no reason to "hate" anyone...When I crossed I was so happy I loved EVERYONE, especially other NPHC orgs! (skee-wee ;o)

  • My mother is one of these organizations and I'm interested in the same one she is in. She has never ever pressured me into pledging. She gave me that freedom of choice whether I wanted to do it or not. She often reflects on the community work she has done while she was in college and that is the main reason why I am interested, not because she is in the organization

I loved this video because it showed that black women and people in general should help each other out.

  • Thats true because my step father is an omega and his friend is a sigma. So doesnt matter if you hang around w/ ppl from a different sorority/fertinity

  • (CONTINUED) Again, these are from a select few sorors & DST who are over zealous. All should just uphold & support their respective organizations; I'm sure their founders would've wanted it that way! Skee Wee, my soror!

    Skee-Ooop, fab job!

  • This is a great video! As I mentioned on other posts, I'm an "old head" pledged & AKA in Fall 1989 (I know its not politically correct to state "pledged, whatever.) There was always occasional friction btwn most organizations but usually they were expressed during the step shows, BEFORE the dance routines & strip teases! It never escalated into fights (at least at my school). These ladies should be commended on making a responsible video because it has truly gotten out of control!

  • i'm an oes - good job ladies!

  • LOVE :)

  • If you know who you are before becoming a member, then you should have no problem remaining who you are. Just let's you know how mature a person really is. So Ooooo-oop my Soror & Oo-oop Skee sister Greek. Oh yea...it's always 3 sides to a story: our side, their side, & the truth. Lol I love that saying!

  • Great job ladies! I totally agree with everything you all said. I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. & my best friend is an AKA. We were also roommates for 1.5 years in our undergrad & we did not allow our Greek affiliations to change our friendship. We are women first & should remember that & carry ourselves in a respectful manner at all times. I have seen it time & time again where people have transformed into totally different people after being initiated into an org. If y

  • Hey Sierra. I stumbled on this video and was like....I know her. lol Met you at the Delta week/ probate and cook out( good friends with ste'k, toya, and steph) Hope all is well, and I liked the video!

  • I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. I crossed in 1999 so I have been around a long time. What I have notice is that this young generation as taken it too far with this so-called hating on each other. Many of this young men and women join this organizations in order to wear the jacket, part-hop and step. They are not they are not in this organizations to what they are suppose to do. These organization were built on improving the black communities. Not breaking each other down.

  • Ladies, phenemonal video...I love it!

  • P.s. these things happened almost a HUNDRED years ago... NONE of these people who are members now should have anything to say about what happened... i like this video.... lol theres no need for beef work together and heal the world

  • Im a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity!! and I say Job well done!!!

  • This video is soo mature. Thank you for letting people. know! It is okay to joke about the supposed histories but to take it sooo seruiously? come on...

  • Thank you for making this vdeo. Some people take the sorority thing to a whole new level. I hear a lot of mess wth AKA and Delta mostly. It 'll be great if the sororities stop dissing each other altogether. Most of the tme you see the sisters giving positive shout outs to the frats, but then turn around and continue to diss each other whether with history, numbers look, or whatever. It'll good to see chants celebrating their own organizatons and recognizing but not not dissing the others.

  • Skee-Wee soror Jameka, and Skee-Oop to Sierra, thank you ladies for making this video...One of my great friends is a Delta and I love her to death, and my organization definitely does not define who I am or who she is as a person, so again thank you ladies for the video.....

  • Hii. I'm 12 nd I've decided I want to be Apart of Delta Sigma Theta . When I qet older and my best friend wants to be Apart of Alpha Kappa Alpha . And I don't qet why they say those two aren't suppose to qet along!

  • luv true sisterhood...come on through ......skee-oo-oop

  • hey i got that yellow dress :)

  • ur guys are sisterhoods not gangmembers so its shouldnt be like that

  • I will like to say OOO-OOP to my soror Sierra!!!

Thanks for creating this video, it really helps clarify some misunderstandings for those who aren't greek! On another note, I really enjoy you videos and seeing two young women from different greek letter organizations working together. Continue the succees!!!!

  • I love all fraternities and sororities. Some people be making fun of me saying that I get along with everyone. I can care less who you are actually. Before we were greek, we had a government name, and you are a human. Now, you have another title, behind your name. That's all! Nevertheless, YOU make the letters. And I'm done.

    Phi-Skee!

    Phi-Oop!

  • I'm glad I saw this video. I'm a Kappa and one of my boys is a Sigma. My little sister is an AKA and her best friend is a Delta. We've also noticed that whenever we go to other places, some greeks find it odd that we talk and joke wit ppl outside our orgs. Some individuals do need to learn that the disses are just for show and never meant to be personal.

  • OO-OOP my soror! and OOP-Skee! love the video it is very positive and shows greek unity. I'm a Delta and have friends that are AKAs or want to be AKAs.

  • Thank you ladies for snapping a lot of people back into reality and opening their eyes to a more wise and mature insight. It is much need in our black community. It is like we have gangs in the streets and we do not need "gangs" in college. These organizations should be working with high school students to help lead them in the right direction. Focus on the things that matter or important not on things that happened in the past that no one can change.Only thing that we can produce is the future

  • WOOOOW!!!! Such a magnificent video! I learned sooo much!!!! I agree with everything of what you all are both saying!!!! I really appreciate this video! I do feel that African Americans need to help one another, rather than put down one another! We are all the same and we should loove one another and appreciate who we are as a people! Thank you for talking about this! Very, very interesting and again I learned a lot from this video! Great video, God bless!

  • Skee-oop!!! I I see you Soror!! U are against protocol wit yo cute lil Ivy tat tho lol . I like ur vid tho. History is history and we are individuals, organizations and affiliations have nothing to do with who we are. I like the vid ladies. We all cousins in my eyes lol I do love my AKA tho.

  • I loooove dat awkward moment before you guys got off into the "epic spilt" lmbo! Its funny me n my friend are the exact same way when people ask her about the AKA/dst thing. But I have a bunch of friends that are da redz n i love dem n respect dem as der desicion...den again a mother always loves her child jk

  • As black women, we should ALL work together to uplift our community. Nice job ladies.

  • this really is a good video; thank you for making it. i think everybody who is interested in Greek Life (and even people who aren't) need to watch this & learn something. i really feel enlightened, and i'm glad i watched this. thanks again :)

  • You ladies are WONDERFUL. A lot of Greeks would not come out and say this. I simply love this video! You ladies are flat out splendid; simply FABULOUS!!! Thank you for saying this because there are a lot of ignorant, uneducated people out there that don't want to know the truth and just accept and grasp the stereotype. Thank you so much. I love this video.

  • That's wats up to both of u ladies.... i am a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and on our campus The que's and us Alphas have a huge issue with respect to each other because of the boot issue and i am glad u ladies addressed this because community service and any other services should be all thats important not some boots or history on yalls behalf.

  • I agree with you ladies fully!! I am inspiring to be a delta in college and this video just furthermore opened my eyes to greek life!! :-D

  • i am also a greek, my mind set was to be myself after i was initiated and b4 i was even interested so im still glad i watched this video cuz some ppl do hide behind there letter, from the stereotypes and changing who they really are .... thumbs up .... Kappa Chi Phi Fraternity INC. =)

  • Great video ladies!! I am glad that you addressed this issue, especially for these crazy commenting folks on youtube. I am a Delta and many of my friends are AKA's, Deltas and Zetas. Like y'all said..... if I liked you before we pledged then you still cool, but if I didn't then you know the deal. Much love to my natural Greek sistahs!! OOO-OOP Skee!!

  • Awesome... Very interesting ladies... I am from the OLD SCHOOL... I pledged in the seventies when sorority & fraterntiy relations were quite a bit different to say the least...We must all remember that we are black men & women first, then we choose what orginization we want to become affiliated with.. My best friend of 30-plus years is a Que..I associate with and befriend whoever I feel I have a connection with.. Much love to all my fellow Greeks..

  • Ladies you did a wonderful job!

  • Just judging by looks, I definitely thought it would be the other way around in terms of which sorority they would be in. Congrats on being mature & sharing your stories with us.

  • And another reason I like this video is because...the AKA is a darker complextion and the Delta is a lighter complextion! Great jobs lady!

  • That's great! The best of both worlds :). Delta here!!!

  • Wonder what school they went to lol

  • I'm not Greek but I am thinking about it and I really appreciate BOTH of you representing your different organizations together in this video. It just shows Greek Unity. I LOVE IT LADIES. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this! Because I actually thought "i don't want to be greek because of the pity things that happen." But from tons of research that I've personal done I love what NPHC organizations are founded on. Thank you once again.

  • Great Job ladies!! =)

  • Great Video! I don't have any BGLOs at my school but i've witnessed this disagreement. I appreciate this you two are making individual steps to show that this is just for show and not a way of life where members of organizations should hate each other. I'm a new subscriber and i think your channel is great! keep it up!

  • I definitely respect you beautiful ladies for letting people know that our differences make us unique and that organizations do not make or break us as individuals. ****Applause

  • I found this video by accident and LOVE the message! I'm a lady of Sigma Gamma Rho and have a member of my org for almost 8 years ago. It seems like people take ish in their organizations waaaay too seriously and it seems as it as has gotten worse on a grad level. I'm glad you guys said the comment just bc I don't like you as a person does not mean I don't like your org. Some folk(s) get that so confused. Keep up the great work and definitely a subscriber now.

  • As some1 who is looking to be a part of a Greekdom I can definitely appreciate this video!!

  • Excellent idea. I am glad I happened by this video. God bless you both. I love all the greeks. I see something "cool and great" in each of them!

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-OOOOP!! MY SWEET SAWRAHS

  • i love this video. although my own heart will forever be with AKA....i still have love for all of my friends who chose other D9 orgs. i like them for who they are instead of disliking them for what they belong to.

  • Hello soror Sierra @NaviiGurl2007 I agree with you, I realize some people join the greek life just to be popular. I'm very big on public service I love kids and been a mentor since I was 17. Now that I am a delta I continue to do my public service not to make the sorority look good but because this is who I am. Thank you again ladies you did a great job.

  • what i really would like to see on youtube is a unity step show AKAS DST on the same stage steppin together Ques and Alphas ect... that would mean alot to younger ppl who want to pledge when they graduate they see that it's about unity, service, and uplifting there communities and not about gold boots, and canes

  • OMG I am so glad that the both of you brought this issue to the forefront because as an undergrad, I attended Florida Memorial University and I ALWAYS saw that once people crossed D9, they became a totally different person. I always thought it was ridiculous and they also don't like people who choose to join service sororitities and fraternities. They honestly don't believe in greek diversity at that school. It's so much more to life & college life than worrying about which greek org u dont like

  • this is prob kinda off topic...buh imma sigma beta && my bestfriend is a kappa leauge & we always get dogged out buh our brothers for hangiin w. each otha.lol (No HOMO!!)

  • Ladies thank you, thank you, thank you for speaking on this topic! I really appreciate it! I can really can relate! I have friends that are members of alpha kappa alpha and delta sigma theta and all the ladies told me to do my research when i was interested in joining a particular sorority. I also agree that you shouldn't be defined by the sorority! Time and time again I've seen a few young women that get their letters and become a totally different people. Thank you ladies again!

  • THANK YOU SISTERS FOR EDUACATING US FOR THAT MAN I WISH YOU GUYS WENT TO MY SCHOOL CUS I AGREE PPL DO GET IT TWISTED.

  • i see that all the time. Most AKA's i know really play the stereotype of being boshie. they get it confused,, YOU MAKE THE LETTERS, DONT LET THE LETTERS MAKE YOU!

  • AMEN TO THAT SISTERS LET OTHERS KNOW.

  • Roo to the Greeks, I am a brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and I must agree with what you ladies are saying. Especially, the point that Sierra made of... if you were a nobody before you crossed any organization, then you shouldnt be dependent upon an organization to make you a somebody. The common goal among all greek organization is service and uplifting your community, so lets continue to seek that common goal. Roo, thats my two cents!!!! and I'm Owt!

  • yes Sierra thank for tagging that point cause alot of greeks that have crossed does that and that make me sooo upset and J i tell my friend that all the time bout what you have to look like to join a sorrority i believe its in your heart

  • I must commend you both ladies for an awesome viewpoint video! I founded my own co-ed fraternal organization 4 years ago, after myself and my best friend graduated from the same college. All of the Hateration that people bring about by individuals is just ridiculous. And ESPECIALLY if someone wants to argue and fight over the fact that anyone didnt join their organization. I think that is RIDICULOUS! I've seen it happen and people need to just drop an issue that we werent even alive to even see!

  • i love this i am A Lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha and my best friiend is A Delta and that has not changed our friend ship 1 bit . . . Skee Wee J

  • This video needs to be apart NPHC informationals. I agree, it should be about the service that all of our founders started. We must put all petty acts to the side, so we can better both our organizations and communities. Once again, great video.

  • Thank you for this video, sistergreeks! Much needed.

    Z Phi!

  • Thanks girls for the video! As a member of a Greek organization (OO-OOP Sierra!) I have friends in every organization. Choosing a sorority is a personal preference. They all represent the same thing: Service. The sorority that you choose must reflect who you ARE and not who you are TRYING to be.

  • I'm glad that you guys did this video. I've been to so many step shows that the women of these historic organizations fight and it's def not a good look. I am not sure about the cream of the crop comment because you don't have to be in any organization to be "the cream of the crop" Ex. Barack Obama, Condeleza Rice, Malcom X (You can make a difference without these organizations).... However, I love the fact that you educating people on the history of "the beef" and how to step beyond that!

  • The last few statements you made at the end of the video were on point. That was the best part of the video

  • I appreciate you both for making this video to enlighten those who lost sight of what being in an organization means. I am a Prince Hall Affiliated Mason and I respect all orgs, they were founded to service the community and improve character, continue to enlighten those who are blind to the obvious. Live well my black queens.

  • people are just ignorant.

  • I love the captions on the sides of the screen that randomly pop up. But, I truly hope that this video clears up alot of confusion among those who may be watching.

  • I didnt know both you ladies were greek! Skee Wee to J and how you doin to Sierra. I am too happy you both addressed this. When i was in school alot of my line sisters were cool and lived with their Delta friends. Their apts were filled with frogs and elephants. LOL Grow up people because some of yall go to hard. Go that hard for Jesus, helping with this oil spill , or doing some good on campus like your suppose to be doing if your apart of the Divine 9 anyway.

  • PEOPLE HIDE BEHIND THEIR LETTERS :: AGREE! && its a damn shame! ugh!

lol sorry - had to get that out lol

  • i agree. you have to find the sisterhood/brotherhood that fits YOU & that YOU will be COMMITTED to. it's a lifetime commitment & whatever decision you make should be right for you. as a Zeta, I have NO problems with members of another organization. I respect them all and a person's decision to be a part of that org. Do work, service, support your org, positively rep your org & there's no reason 4 disrepect. I'm still Cristine despite being a Zeta. & that's how it should be.

  • This is a great video. A lot of college aged women need to view this so that they can know the truth behind the myth. PHI SKEE and PHI OOP to you both!!!

  • random but...whered u get the 'go natural' tshirt? i luv it :)

  • You are so right I applauded you for this video. I am not greek but I came across this video and watched it. When I was college Deltas & AKAs really could not stand each other. It was crazy. People who were friends before becoming Greek became enemies. Right now I have two friends that go to the college I use to go to and they were the best of friends. One became an Zeta and the other a SGRho. Some people in there respective Sororities got into it and they are not friends anymore.

  • Pause... WHERE DiD YOUU GET THE 'NATURAL' SHiRT? That is super freshh. Lol.

  • Awesome video ladies, I love that Go Natural shirt too.

  • As a fellow sister in greekdom, some just take it too far. We were created to service and the black community and everyone else cuz real talk, you don't NEED to join a greek organization to do community service and help people. It's so important to make the organization and not let it make you. You are no better or that insanely different than those without letters or letters different than yours.

  • @vivacious1083 @vivacious1083 As a non-Greek, I'm not knocking for what a person is doing but why do you feel the need to make the organization if it's already been made? In college one of the things on your to-do-list is finding yourself, who you want to be. Not who other people want you to be. Just be an individual. I'm not joining one because I already have a sisterhood: my sisters and mother =) and I don't need colors or letters to define me as a person.

  • @vivacious1083 It's messed up that some women actually died to get where you are now. I mean is it worth losing your life over?

  • stuff like this is great esp for young college girls like me that consider pledging. I feel that it is absolutely essential for one to know exactly who they are before sporting letters because if thats no the case their definition of themselves will be based on those horrible stereotypes and stigmas..... Food for Thought.. THANKS!

  • great job ladies..i love my sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, as well as the wonderful women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. both are very awesome prestigous organizations you just have to find the one that is best for you...well said ladies!!! Skee-Wee

  • This is great, and I saw that video of the fight. I wish my Greek friends would atleat TRY to get along. Great topic :)

  • great job Soror! Same to you greek!

Gawjus and natural. rock that hair & those letters with pride!

  • Both of you are beautiful and I love you and both your organizations, that's right hand to the man...Phi-Skee & Phi-Oop, mhm

  • Great video! Gives me something to think about. You all have very valid points.

  • Exactly. People need to come together and lift each other up.

  • Awwwww! I agree I know alot of bout greek like greek life and I hope to become an AKA one day! (soon hopefully)

  • i agree!! at ma school the divine nine have to stick together !!! yet there are a few people who cross and bring unwanted drama .

  • I am apart of one of the above sororities and I think it's great that you all work together. The "beef" is stupid, and on my old campus, the relationship was decent and even better between individuals. Now that tatoo missy . . . it is cute though. I love the channel and keep it up.

  • Great discussion!
