@solodude23 A catless downpipe makes a huge difference vs. stock. The stock downpipe has two cats in it and is very restrictive for air flow. It's great for emissions, but you really sacrifice a lot of power with it. When you switch to a catless downpipe and get a proper tune for it, you can easily gain up to 30-40 whp.

@solodude23 High-flow cats work pretty well as long as you don't upgrade your turbo. With the stock turbo, you'll find little difference between a catless downpipe and one with a high-flow cat. However, once you replace the turbo, the cat will always restrict flow no matter if it's a high-flow cat or not, so you can potentially lose 20-30 whp with even a high-flow cat in there. Keep in mind though, this matters more on cars with STIs that have turbos that are capable of 350-375 whp or more.

Yhea its nice scooby... adding a quart or to would keep it going for while longer.. but eventually major internal damage is unavoidable. still a sick scooby..

the car is fine, it just doesn't get driven very often. i think when we made that vidoe, i hadn't driven it in 6? weeks. the stuff behind the exhaust isn't oil, it's carbon. i've had it looked at several times and i check the oil and change regularly. it's an 04 with 28k miles.. 18k of which were the first 2 years... so you can see it hasn't been driven much in the last 4.

depends on what kind of sound you are looking for. If you want a low profile sound (with the oem look) to stay away from cops and what nots -- I'd go with a Maddad Whisper / Borla Hush / Strommung Dual tip exhausts. They sound great and adds the much needed performance. If your're looking for the bigger diameter exhausts, get a greddy Ti-C or Blitz Nur Spec if loud is what you want.

Cool thing about 02-07 wrx / sti's are that their parts are quite interchangable minus the rims. 02 - 04 are 5x100 and 05 and above are 5x114.3

downpipe: not quite. on the WRX/STI you have the turbo mounted high in the engine bay, so the downpipe collects the gases running from the exhaust (hot) side of the turbo and vents them toward the catback. the headers are connected to an up-pipe that goes through the turbo. so it goes: headers, up-pipe, hotside, downpipe, catback, atmosphere
