i have the boss fs-5u pedal. am not sure about the compatibility with all brands but im quite sure it'll work fine with the yamaha motif as well. just make sure that you'll get an unlatch pedal instead of a latch one. you don't wanna stomp the pedal 2 times to change a sound

Well, that's not a big problem. A new keyboard or reporgramming this... what matters is that he can play the song very nicely.

Well I just save the sounds i'm gonna use in a row, and the pedal moves me through the sounds in the order i have saved them

U can change sound quickly whit a footswitch pedal. I use a "Boss FS 5U" and it works great. excuse my english.
