  • love this song.

  • That is a beautiful and mesmerising song. Thank you.

  • Such incredible skill. I love how she does this from the heart... it truly shows. Magnificent, peaceful, and calming. This brought a tear to my eye, after a hectic day. Thank you so much, Brooke.

  • What a cool song, and what a great voice (and accent!)

  • Just saw her tonight at the Kempt Shore acoustic festival! She's fantastic

  • whats the tuning?

  • Those nails look like they could do some serious damage..

  • one of the coolest singer songwriters around

  • i will share with all

  • anthem of america

  • I have watched this again:

    this to me is abosolutely perfect;

  • Hey -

I've been listening to clips on Candyrat Records this morning. Just wanted to say I picked up two copies of "You Can See Everything" and the very LAST copy of "Shake It Off" from Amazon.com this morning. Time to stock 'em up again, Brooke.

I also wanted to say: it's soooo much fun to be excited about what's coming in the mail. I can't wait to receive the CDs.

    Thx!

  • Sorry Brooke I asked you about cords. I didn't mean 'chords', I meant 'strings'...

    Cheers.

  • That's brilliant, it has been said... I wondered what cords you are using ?

  • I don't cry much. Only every time I watch this performance. It's just crazy good. Beautiful lyrics, magically sung and perfectly accompanied.

  • our nations anthem

  • I just can't move away from this song - it is so excellent . She should be award winning-best selling - #1 female singer/songwriter-Few artists today have her skills-and many have none at all.

  • She made me cry; simply beautiful, and the song was fantastic.

  • i have few words that suffice an expression of praise and gratitude ms miller,

  • I second my friend Adam's thoughts below, Brooke. Sharing your creations is truly a gift to mankind. Thank you.

  • I love you Brooke, as an struggling artist with the deepest respect for you and Don. May your wonderful creations fill the heart and souls of mankind forever.

  • Thank you Brooke Miller... what a nice, introspective piece of Canadian songcraft!

  • Just read the comment above about Brooke having an Irish accent, did someone really say this? I know absoluely nothing about where she grew up but the only way you could think she sounds Irish is that you have no idea what an Irish accent sounds like.

  • Brilliant...Beautiful...and Blonde...Don u gifted in more than one ways..thanks for the great music you guys are.....BOSS ;)

  • song is just to slow...

  • @mvdiablo maybe your too impatient?

  • did don ross just use the german word "ERSATZ"? oO did he use it instead of the word "fake"?

  • greatttttt i will post a guitar cover

  • You, your music and voice are beautiful. Thank you for showing people what music can be.

  • Beautiful song :)

It's hard to believe Brooke used to tour the Maritimes as young as 12 years old and played in an angsty punk band for many years... actually, i take that back, its not hard to believe that she was that talented when she was young when you look at her now & plenty of great songwriters came out of the punk scene, so I'm just being foolish. I need to catch her live sometimes.

  • Lovin the guitar track, good vocals too

  • Ricky Robles

In my opinion, there is nothing more sexier than a girl that can play the guitar and sing well! I'm glad there are still indie artists out there, that write music from the heart. Sometimes I forget. I'm reminded today. I would rather hear your story, instead of people trying to please the mainstream. Now, where's my guitar.

  • Wonderfully euphonious.

  • this song always touching me

  • When i watched this video, 1337 ppl liked it!! :D

  • hands down wonderful... made me tear up and im not a pussy...music like this does it to me though

  • Nice tune, very unique and beautiful.

Go P.E.I.!!, All the best to you and yours

  • Gorgeous

  • Mannnnnn, this song spooks me.

(That's a grown man's way of saying it makes him cry.)

    Beautiful.

  • people need to understand just how hard it is to do what she is doing. singing and strumming guitar is one thing... but to sing and play guitar like that, in finger-style, is incredible. round of applause.

  • Truly a beautiful song. What tuning is that?

  • This is a masterpiece, seriously

Brings me back to the south, Love the feel, Love your music!

you to Don ;) and all those in the Rat Pack for that matter!

  • @tomkemp4000 That's what she said.

  • beautiful brooke! you are a huge influence in my music. check out some of my songs here on youtube.

  • Very heartfelt. I really miss "real" music with a message having been a child of the '60's. One of my fondest wishes is for more of this type of music to come back on the scene. Thank you. Sami ;-)

  • This is stunningly good.

    Love her right hand

  • she got to be irish to play that good...lol i been searching for women like yall all my life...lol

  • she got to be irish to play that good...lol

  • joni mitchell would approve so much.

  • The nails give her an advantage.

  • @Pendulemon why? otherwise i'd be a bad guitarist? hehe . or i could just let my fingers BLEED from playing so hard. would that be more impressive?

    i think not.

  • @MrookeBiller bleeding fingers = dedication

  • Super

  • Great, wonderful, Thank you

The best instrument to make a mans heart listen is an acoustic guitar.

The best way to make a mans brain listen is a voice like this.

  • just got a glass of laphroaig, heard this song , and felt good...

  • I am in love... Really I am. xxx

  • sweet jesus

  • Beautiful :-)))

  • OMG this actually brought a tear or two to my eye! WOW

  • @tomkemp4000 Giggity.

  • She's got has four cerebrum, as though God created to reveal emotions !

  • Wonderful compo and playing, nice voice, but when, when, when is this fashion of singing with an awful Irish accent going to stop ? Every woman singer now has to use an ersatz Irish accent. Sick of Irish accented singing.

  • @nicbordeaux Hi there! I'm married to Brooke, and I can attest to the fact that this is NOT an example of a "woman singer" using an "ersatz Irish accent." Brooke is from Prince Edward Island, on the east coast of Canada. In addition to the Mi'kmaq native population, the two biggest immigrant communities on the Island are the Irish and the Scots. Brooke speaks with a gentle PEI accent, which she simply can't help. We now live in Nova Scotia, just down the road from PEI. It's NATURAL!! Believe me

  • @DonRossMusic

Sorry for the rest of us on the Internet, Don; collectively, we, by and large, just don't get it. But, on occasion, like tonight, the 17 of September, 2010, I look at the work of your wife and cry. And I remember shedding a tear over what you do, as well, as the founder of the Canadian Fingerstyle Explosion, IMO. Apologies, from all of us. Cheers, Mate and Matey! Thank you for the rare experiences of being able to say, "Yeah! I'm a human, too. And we rock."

    Best,

    SaintFu

  • @DonRossMusic... not surprised at all...have seen your beautyful Island on pictures and someday if I still have time I will come and see the home of the "kindred spirits"...I don't see why your wife should have to justyfy her accent to the listeners...maybe I'm missing something...enlighten me please...

  • @DonRossMusic i love canada.

  • @DonRossMusic lol donny you make us sound like aliens when you say it like that! just say shes Canadian bro! haha. were excited to see you in Kingston soon man.

  • @DonRossMusic tell him Don!

  • @DonRossMusic God bless the Irish. I love this song. Congrats to you both for achieving something I can only wish for in music.

  • @DonRossMusic You lucky basterd :)

  • @DonRossMusic please! please! please! come back to cape breaton soon >>>>>>>and dont come without brooke<<<<i missed her set last time in halifax <<<i was pissed <<<please come soon<<<

  • @DonRossMusic please come back to cape breaton soon <<<<<<

  • @DonRossMusic ignore the ignorant youtube trolls. This can only sound irish to untrained ears (I have been guilty of erroneous irish accent identification on YT videos myself in the past). What "nicbordeaux" fails to account for is that, as you have said Don, the vast majority of the population of Canada and the USA is made up of immigrants from parts of Europe, including many from Ireland. The many american and canadian accents are massively influenced by irish which shows especially in song.

  • @DonRossMusic

You might just be the luckiest man alive, from one Scotsman's view anyway.

And anyway, yer not bad yerself! Keep it up, both of ye's!

  • @nicbordeaux No idea from where you're getting your vitriol, unless it's some form of jelly-belly.

This is as authentic a Maritime accent (my home) as you get and it's nowhere near an 'Irish' accent--real or affected. True, for people with a tin ear, the Maritime accent, made up of the elements from where we come--Irish, Scottish, French, etc.--is going to sound different from the typical accent found in central Canada and might sound like any number of things it is not. But you're way off.

  • Lovely song. Is she well known? Never heard of her.

She should be a household name.

  • When the love of music and the belief in the story one is telling combine, magic like this fuses the performer and the listener in a singular joy.

  • OMG your beautiful in everyway :)

  • I think this is the girl Robert Plant was talking about in "Going to California" who plays guitar and cries and sings.

  • Absolutely amazing soul in this song

  • Real good

  • I was amazed by your guitar work. BUT! When you started singing.. totally took me by surprise. You are AWESOME! Trust me you really are! :)

  • Yeah lets all go out and buy some shit music being pumped out by the machine, while artists like this exist in relative obscurity. Its fucked.

Theres a lot of great artists, real artists still making real music, you have to make an effort to find it, but it is worth it. I love this song. great sound.

  • i love her sound

  • i was checking jerry and david two soilders a trad cival war number, and i here this and i am speechless.thank u brook.

  • idk y, but i dont really like her voice, i rather her just play guitar like most of the crazy rat musicains, its a good voice, but for me it just doesnt fit i guess...

  • @tomkemp4000 THATS WHAT SHE SAID!!!!!!!

  • @deathamphetaminexxx

Sooner or later someone was gonna drop a comment like this... I guess you can't expect more from the internet.

    /sad

  • @Jouwl hahahahaha

  • @tomkemp4000 that's what she said

  • this song feels so right for her, the perfect voice for the perfect song with the perfect guitar skills, :D

and that she is beautiful only makes it better... but you can see her pain when she sings... she becomes older, but in a good way :D

  • Just listen

  • great harmonic

  • awful right hand position, but sounds nice at the end. my nails hurt for her anyway,

    really nice composition finally

  • @Ghawrod

yea that looks a bit akward

looks like she is holdin the guitar for the first time

But that doesnt matter the sound is unique!

  • hey, whoever says she aint a good singer, you try singing and playing guitar at the same time! I would consider tis a crowning achievement right here. I cant even sing and play death cab for cutie at the same time XP

  • That's what who said?

  • I like her voice a lot at some points. I'm so glad she did this song with a mic and a guitar. ALTHOUGH I disagree with "strangehero420" on the "There is very little talent out there today" statement. Bold and stupid to be honest. Talent is endless and everywhere. I love her playing. Great musician. Shame these people aren't as famous as they should be. :( Candyrat musicians forever :)

  • @LeVictoriaLovesJosh dont be an idiot i meant in mainstream music today, most those kids ge their songs written for them and cant even say composition, and having been in the studio , its easy to tell that alot of musicians now adays use alot of technology to make them sselfs sound good, so listen to the radio, and tell me about some talent on their

  • @strangehero420

Man, I've been in studios before. I'm no stranger either. But saying something such as "There is very little talent out there today" blah blah blah. You clearly have no idea what it takes to make it as a musician, look all over Youtube and tell me that there is no talent out there. Mainstream music isn't all bad, you probably listen to the "hits" radio. That's not mainstream, it's "hits" go on actual mainstream radio. Learn how to spell and use proper grammar. Damn -.-

  • @LeVictoriaLovesJosh ,ok man first before you start talking realize where we are when you start questioning my taste in music ( brooke miller youtube video). and i dont listen to the radio because its awful. now why dont you go back to "making music" with fruity loops, listening to lady gaga and making weak ass comments on a page otherwise beautiful. and you say look at what else is on youtube, and no tall mainstream music is bad, well yotube isnt mainstream music, now is it. so wtf are you syng

  • @LeVictoriaLovesJosh oh and by the way i dont give a fuck about my grammar, im sure you learned how to sound stuff out in speech class because of that giant lisp you have , faggot

  • @strangehero420 Lisp? :s

  • @LeVictoriaLovesJosh oh and by the way, making little faces after everything you say is pretty gay, what are you a 12 yr old grl

  • @strangehero420 Dude, shut the fuck up.

  • @LeVictoriaLovesJosh what no angry face

  • @strangehero420 I'm not angry lmfao. I'm just saying, your intelligence is lacking. I thought you'd understand if I used more simplistic wording. KayThanxBai.

  • @LeVictoriaLovesJosh what no smily face

  • @strangehero420 :) Happy?

  • @LeVictoriaLovesJosh what , no questiony face

  • her physical attractiveness almost distracts from her musical talent. nice soothing voice.

  • If there is one thing I love seeing is a beautiful woman (beautifully) playing the guitar and singing

  • She deserves way more views than this...

  • is this supposed to be sad or like a song of taking a stand on whats right .......i hear anti military anti elitism, well maybe not anti military but anti this military...ive always equated love for my land with loyalty to the army but now i understand im joining the opposition and never going home (powerful wrds that have been ringin in my head since i heard them) thank you for writing music that makes me think and is close to my heart.. p.s. i cant beleive you stole my women don

  • really great song =-)

  • niiiice!!!

  • your so amazing..i wanna play that so bad

  • Very sad song, tear up everytime

  • Beautiful!!

  • i love brooke miller soooooooooo much, i can't hardly breathe!!!

  • @johhnalexander If its any help to you john the guitar is tuned DGDGBD. its a good open tuning. thats from thick string to thin, and if you notice she has her capo on the third fret.I like the way she plays it Ime just starting to learn it HAVE FUN.

  • Her voice is actually awesome and she knows what clean pitch means!

  • most of the comments ive read dont talk about the words .its a good meaningful song and she sings it with feeling and plays well. if theres anyone out there who can do it better put it on youtubeand, we can comment on you VILE ERIC.

  • Saw you play last night! Impressed as always! Looking forward to seeing you again... still too shy to say hi though. Maybe next time!

  • Thanks! Very nice guitar work, singing and great lyrics. You are beautiful:)

  • linda la canción!

  • Gut das ich nur Tränen in.den Augen habe und nicht in den Ohren.......ich hör dir zu :-) und verstehe !

  • listening after years to this song and it is still as beautiful as the day it came out and i checked it the first time.

very funny to see, that candyrat uses the same mic as me (akg c 1000s) ; pretty good microphone for the amount of money (imo)

  • Wow, haunting. Where have I been? This girl is strong!

I agree with you, Woody. Sooo.... I'll shut up.

  • There are some voices that translate feelings so well that you have to just shut up and listen. I think she creates some great dynamics in this song...great!

  • sie singt so sexy ;-)

und spielt 100 mal besser als ich dabei !!! xD

  • reminds me of richard thompson

  • when you came in italy? i love her music

  • I think candyrat have only guitar song without sing ^^

  • Pretty song pretty girl

  • I love this! Gonna download the album this evening. Makes me want to hear more.

  • Guitar work is good, but voice is very pitchy. Lot of very flat points and large lack of control and forced lilts are what contribute to that end I think. Still very talented though.

  • @vileric

this is not an opera )

her voice is perfect for this song

  • Who said anything about an opera? She just needs a little vocal training to hit the lilts she's attempting, otherwise they end up without the sharp note changes and fall flat. It ends up hurting the vocal note and tone she's attempting to hit after the lilt. She doesn't always miss them, but more often than not she does. Like I said, she's still very talented, just needs some vocal work.
