One object closer to us while the other was farther away... then again the comet could have interrupted the sun's activity and caused the burst. Nothing in the comet video was "against physics", quite the contrary, the comets path described an Elliptical path exactly as calculated by well known equations of astrodynamics. It's tail behaved as expected, being pushed outwards by the solar wind. The coronal mass ejection was purely coincidental - these happen several times a day at peak times, one is bound to happen as a comet is passing, as it did here.
nothing can be 'against physics'. however our current understanding of physics predicts that if an object with a greater mass than jupiter were to pass between the sun and mercury, mercury's orbit would be affected to the point that it will crash into the sun. this didnt happen. perhaps our understanding of physics still in its infancy.
btw, solar flares reaching as far as earth's orbit aren't common. to occur on time to alter the trajectory of a comet is some coincidence indeed;)

Elgyn11. Comets don't get sucked into the Sun for the same reason planets don't get sucked in. They are orbiting. That's why the same comets come back time and time again, their orbits can be calculated, they reappear on a regular and predictable basis, for example they correctly predicted when comet Shoemaker-Levy was due to crash into Jupiter. "Sun grazing" comets orbits take them close to the sun, and they can survive many passes, but occasionally some do hit the Sun.
Nasim has been proven wrong on some of his scientific and philisophical theories, proven to be either lying or just being ignorant of indisputable facts. You have to research this stuff yourself. So, if want to believe him, fine but just know that some of his info is false and he has not done his homework. Why would such a bright individual sound like a fool on certain subjects? Two common misconceptions about the galactic plane;
1. It is a "line of centrifugal force". Nope. Centrifugal force is felt by objects due to their own inertia, it is not a separate "force" in space like gravity.
2. It is a region of suddenly increasing gravity. Nope. It is just a line where the further you go above it, the larger the difference becomes between the total mass of stars, planets, etc, below you than above you, so you slowly start to move downwards. Vice versa when below it.
Observations indicate that the solar system crossed the line of the galactic plane 3 million years ago, so in fact we are currently moving away from the plane, not towards it. We wont be due to cross it again for another 30 million years. (This is the up/down bobbing of the solar system within the galaxy's disc - Do not confuse this with other "alignments")

It's an imaginary line dividing the upper and lower halves of the galaxy. The solar system passes through it about every 30 million years, and the density of matter isn't much different to the space a few lightyears either side of it. Since we can't even locate the exact plane accurately, we can only estimate when we cross it within half a million years. (Many people confuse this actual crossing with the precession of the equinoxes type "alignment")
The comet had no effect on us because its nucleus was small, therefore of negligible gravitational pull.
"Lining up" to the galactic centre will have no effect on us, because the only thing that changes is the visible line of sight, we do not *move* any closer!

Total bullshit. The large apparent size of comets is due to the surrounding Coma and tails, which are made of extremely thin gas and dust. Many photos of comets show stars visible through the Coma, it is so thin. The solid centre of this comet was small. Its mass was small. Gravity depends on mass. This comets gravitational pull was totally insignificant compared to the Sun, Earth or any other planet. Nassim is simply a liar.

@indie3: There are other ways to figure the size and mass of a body than a camera. He's a physicist and so are many other scientists who observed this. I'm sure they probably found the mass through other means. He's looked at astronomy a lot. He knows about the size of comets compared to the size in the video. "astronomers thought it would hit the sun," they looked more in depth att his than just looking at some SOHO video.
@indie3 I agree that the coma is made of gases, however one must also admit that even a tiny, minuscule item, such as the size of a space shuttle can greatly alter the orbit of a larger item. We've already begun experimenting the positioning of asteroids nearby. By manoeuvring an unmanned satellite near it, close enough to effect the orbit, the trajectory is altered and we have repositioned it's original path.
The comet itself was, at it's core, close to twice the size of Jupiter, or so I'm told from many sources. In addition, an impact with our star would have cause significant damage, possibly destabilizing it. It doesn't matter if you claim the gases coming off are thin or not, they are volatile gases, and would react if thrown into the furnace of a burning star. I believe that is the point that Nassim was trying to make

Comet NEAT is a normal sized comet, only a few miles across. It's coma grew to immense proportions as it neared the inner solar system, but the chunk of ice and rock remained only a few miles across throughout the entire journey....

im sorry but no object that big can b considered a comet. a comet is made up mostly of ice and some silicates. for a object getting that big it would need to b made of gas. look at planet formation. and for it to b a comet it would have had to b ejected out of a solar system when the star started fusion solar wind would be powerful enough to do that. because of the size if it wasn't gas it would be liquid metal and would have no tail tails of caused be water vapor expanding and and releasing gas

One object closer to us while the other was farther away... then again the comet could have interrupted the sun's activity and caused the burst. Nothing in the comet video was "against physics", quite the contrary, the comets path described an Elliptical path exactly as calculated by well known equations of astrodynamics. It's tail behaved as expected, being pushed outwards by the solar wind. The coronal mass ejection was purely coincidental - these happen several times a day at peak times, one is bound to happen as a comet is passing, as it did here.

nothing can be 'against physics'. however our current understanding of physics predicts that if an object with a greater mass than jupiter were to pass between the sun and mercury, mercury's orbit would be affected to the point that it will crash into the sun. this didnt happen. perhaps our understanding of physics still in its infancy.
btw, solar flares reaching as far as earth's orbit aren't common. to occur on time to alter the trajectory of a comet is some coincidence indeed;)

Elgyn11. Comets don't get sucked into the Sun for the same reason planets don't get sucked in. They are orbiting. That's why the same comets come back time and time again, their orbits can be calculated, they reappear on a regular and predictable basis, for example they correctly predicted when comet Shoemaker-Levy was due to crash into Jupiter. "Sun grazing" comets orbits take them close to the sun, and they can survive many passes, but occasionally some do hit the Sun.

Two common misconceptions about the galactic plane;
1. It is a "line of centrifugal force". Nope. Centrifugal force is felt by objects due to their own inertia, it is not a separate "force" in space like gravity.
2. It is a region of suddenly increasing gravity. Nope. It is just a line where the further you go above it, the larger the difference becomes between the total mass of stars, planets, etc, below you than above you, so you slowly start to move downwards. Vice versa when below it.

Observations indicate that the solar system crossed the line of the galactic plane 3 million years ago, so in fact we are currently moving away from the plane, not towards it. We wont be due to cross it again for another 30 million years. (This is the up/down bobbing of the solar system within the galaxy's disc - Do not confuse this with other "alignments")

The galactic plane is not a physical thing.
It's an imaginary line dividing the upper and lower halves of the galaxy. The solar system passes through it about every 30 million years, and the density of matter isn't much different to the space a few lightyears either side of it. Since we can't even locate the exact plane accurately, we can only estimate when we cross it within half a million years. (Many people confuse this actual crossing with the precession of the equinoxes type "alignment")

He confuses the visible size of the comet's extremely thin, transparent, gas/dust coma (larger than Jupiter) with it's solid core (a few miles across). The total mass was very small. It's gravitational pull was very small.

Total bullshit. The large apparent size of comets is due to the surrounding Coma and tails, which are made of extremely thin gas and dust. Many photos of comets show stars visible through the Coma, it is so thin. The solid centre of this comet was small. Its mass was small. Gravity depends on mass. This comets gravitational pull was totally insignificant compared to the Sun, Earth or any other planet. Nassim is simply a liar.

@indie3: There are other ways to figure the size and mass of a body than a camera. He's a physicist and so are many other scientists who observed this. I'm sure they probably found the mass through other means. He's looked at astronomy a lot. He knows about the size of comets compared to the size in the video. "astronomers thought it would hit the sun," they looked more in depth att his than just looking at some SOHO video.

@indie3 I agree that the coma is made of gases, however one must also admit that even a tiny, minuscule item, such as the size of a space shuttle can greatly alter the orbit of a larger item. We've already begun experimenting the positioning of asteroids nearby. By manoeuvring an unmanned satellite near it, close enough to effect the orbit, the trajectory is altered and we have repositioned it's original path.

The comet itself was, at it's core, close to twice the size of Jupiter, or so I'm told from many sources. In addition, an impact with our star would have cause significant damage, possibly destabilizing it. It doesn't matter if you claim the gases coming off are thin or not, they are volatile gases, and would react if thrown into the furnace of a burning star. I believe that is the point that Nassim was trying to make

Comet NEAT is a normal sized comet, only a few miles across. It's coma grew to immense proportions as it neared the inner solar system, but the chunk of ice and rock remained only a few miles across throughout the entire journey....

size is all relative within our universe. Remember there are stars out there that would make our sun look tiny. this was a comet just on a massive scale that would of destroyed us and left no trace and we should just be grateful that it never hit. I truly believe we were being looked after. Just how are we going to show how grateful we are though?

im sorry but no object that big can b considered a comet. a comet is made up mostly of ice and some silicates. for a object getting that big it would need to b made of gas. look at planet formation. and for it to b a comet it would have had to b ejected out of a solar system when the star started fusion solar wind would be powerful enough to do that. because of the size if it wasn't gas it would be liquid metal and would have no tail tails of caused be water vapor expanding and and releasing gas

I could care less about Nibiru, to tell the truth. Call it a hunch. But I am more interested in what the star at the center of our galaxy, which enables all life to continue living on this planet.
Is anyone aware that our Sun is 'pulsing' every so often (week or so) like a capacitor? Or that whereupon doing so it is then very dark in appearance for a short duration after the pulses?

This picture was taken by a spacecraft called SOHO. When the SOHO spacecraft took this picture, we couldnt see Comet NEAT from Earth because the comet was too close to the Sun. SOHO has a special instrument called a coronagraph which blocks the brightest light from the Sun. A coronagraph is a lot like a solar eclipse in the way it blocks the Sun's light

Actually, this comet was discovered by NASA's Near Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) program, so that is the real reason it is called Comet NEAT. This time NEAT found a comet instead of an asteroid. Comet NEAT (which is also called Comet C/2002 V1) was discovered in November 2002.

Hey guy even on the video you clearly see the magnetoshpere, the sun is way bigger than shown by this guy on the video on the very same image but the so called twice the size of juspiter is way far more smaller than the sun.
So learn before speaking.

Comets are not twice the size of Jupiter - and if it passed by Earth and was that large none of us would be here. An object twice the size of Jupiter would have either torn the Earth apart through tides or disrupted our orbit by its gravitation. The very fact that no one knew of it proves it didn't happen.
