  • Nice video but i had trouble setting it up. I run win 7 and when i want to use ICS its gives my loopback a ip of 192.168.137.1 which its not as the same of my network 192.168.0.0. The other way i've managed do to this lab is using my real physical nic instead of the loopback and used VMnet1 with the host only option. Rest of the config is the same.

  • Dear Imran Assalam-o-alaikum, I tried to remake this lab of your's but couldn't get it going. I wanted to see the NAT translation in action. But win7 got it running automatically. My question is that..Can we change the IP add of the Virtual adapters so that we can use em in Gns accordingly ? After i change IPs on Vm8 and when i go to virtual machine it still has its auto ip address..how to change them..?

Aur han..Happy Eid Mubarak to u too..

    Thanks and Regards,

    Suleman

  • @sulemantajik

No need to change the ip address please fellow the steps

    1. Click on start > all programmers>VMware>Virtual Network Editor>

    2. Click on VMnet8 or any one which have connected in GNS3

    3. At the bottom you will see an option for “Use local DHCP service to distribute IP address toVMs” just un-check

    4. Press OK

just open vm and assign the desire ip address it will work fine

if not contact me at skype "imeezmob"

  • Salaam imran

    my setup as follows

win 7 physical machine running gns3 connecting to internet through wireless , win xp on vm workstation. How should i configure the ip settings etc on virtual machine. i followed ur instructions and unable to ping the router.. Ultimately i am trying to setup the CME lab.

    Many thanks

  • @marsamuk

    Walikumsalam

Actually wireless (WLAN)is not perfect way to do this lab, there is some problems occurs during configuration with wireless. LAN works perfectly, there is a tip for VMware turn off DHCP server which is built-in in VMware that provide more control and surety for your lab.

in CME lab you can do some thing amazing if you have 2 or more wirless PC or Laptop, just config the CME router and install Cisco Communicator with the same class of network of your physical rotuer

  • Hi,

Imran i am facing some problem in GNS 3, i am not getting symbol manger option i

am having GNS 3 0.4 beta.

  • @mail2mukaram

    hi

You are using bit old version best is that download the latest verion of GNS 3 or just bring the cloud symbol in working area in GNS3 and right click on it. you will find the one of the option for change symbol, click on that and slect the symbol which you would like to chose for your topology.

    Thanks

  • @imeezz Hi, do you know how to fix this? I JUST turned on my vm (Virtual Machine) and randomly the internet just stopped working! It worked before. But now... nothing :( Do you know how to fix it?

  • @imeezz i didnt mess with the internet settings at all, i was just enjoying my vm (Virtual Machine) And randomly the internet stopped working. I looked this up and people said the MAC Address changed. Is that right? I think it stopped on all of my VM's. I'll give you more info if you need.3

    Thanks

  • @Videogameman156

please contact me at skype "imeezmob"

  • @imeezz nvm, it randomly starting working haha

  • why ddn't you bridge the loopback with the physical nic? Might be easier i think

  • @dodo3tt

    hi dodo!!!

you are right that is possible and easier.

but the viewer of this video learn how to create a microsoft loopback

there is another easist way just attach physical NIC and give any of un-used ip address from the range of your physical NIC class and bring the interface up. route the all trafic for nating to that interface

    that will work perfectly

    Thanks for your comments

  • Excellent walk-through, thanks.

Hit one or two speedbumps along the way but I got there in the end!
