I think the early native americans deffinately hunted many species to extinction but it's impossible to prove either way.

Nice "story". I have read some historical accounts from around 1900. Some of the first white men that encountered native American people in Ohio said the native Americans had no idea how the mounds or earthworks were built and had no stories handed down from their ancestors that explained these ancient structures. I do not believe these Indians can claim the ancient Woodland culture as their people. I also do not believe this story is anything more than a native American's embellishment.
