To me, that keyboard combo will always be the sound of the Doors. Although session men were brought in for several songs on the first album, the Fender Piano Bass was used on this cut, which was just backed up by Bruce Botnick in a recent Mojo issue. It's such an other-wordly sound; I was fascinated by it as a lad and still am today, and the Vox Continental's just the icing on the cake. Thanks so much for posting this!

@tvvdo  i think for this song yes, though he later used a Gibson G-101 because the Italian Continental keys "sticked" and remained "down" without pushing it.In my opinion i like this sound more than the Gibs...

@MightyMiguel Hey buddy, he's using an English made one I believe, which go for a higher price because of the wooden keys and more solid electronics. There is an Italian version which sounds the same, but has plastic keys and not as high quality of electronics, which tend to break, and after a while the keys start sticking. There is an American version with wooden keys that is very similar to the UK , except its worth more since Ray had it.

@SuburbanDon Bass ist not so complicated, you can find it on a midi file or in some song books...but you need some coordination. The organ solo has a simple bass line, A C# E - B D F# , try to play this for a long, long time following the music with your left hand...(normally the organ is at one speaker and the bass at the other)...until you can play some melody with your right hand at the same time. Some people follow the beat with the feet, like a metronome...

@IbanezNick75 Yeah, then on the remasters its fixed. Its the whole first and second I think albums, because of the speed was a little slower than it actually is played. So to play with how its written in sheet, you have to play with the remasters. But I just found that out recently, its VERY interesting!

I learned the version in Keyboard Magazine in 1990 issue, did this guy learned it from back them or did Ray actually wrote it for keyboard magazine and then he learned it musically from there. I play the same version in my keyboard. cool though
