The unique Stan Getz Dynasty band was formed in Paris. It included
the brilliant Belgian guitarist René Thomas, organist Eddy Louiss from Martinique, and French classical and jazz percussionist Bernard Lubat.
Not having brought charts Getz, who had arrived to watch championship tennis, was happy to play music composed by himself, Rene Thomas, Eddy Louiss, also better known works by Bronislau Kaper and Benny Golson.
Thanks for posting this wonderful video. Dynasty has always been on of my favorite albums. I didn't know This video existed. That's amazing. Beautiful
Agree with the previous comment about Thomas's solo. There's not enough of him on youtube - or on record, for that matter. Interesting to consider that for Rene, playing alongside Getz must have felt like he was following in the footsteps of Jimmy Raney, who must have been a prime influence. Yet Thomas was comfortable in more different styles; it's hard to imagine Jimmy in the "Destiny" band! Thanks for posting!

Achingly beautiful, the way Stan brings Rene in after Eddy's solo. Work of art.

I've had the Dynasty album since I was 9, and it still is my all time favorite jazz album. ever. ever.
Would any of you here know any other albums/artists to recommend me? It's been years that I've been looking for music in the same style...
... and weather report just ain't cuttin' it. ;)

@eklectric: Suggest Larry Young's "Unity" with Woody Shaw, Joe Henderson & Elvin Jones. Repeated listening gives huge rewards.

Thanks Niall. A wonderful, albeit short, Renè solo at 5:06. I hope you come across some more great Renè clips like this.
