You seem to understand very little, the Mujihadeen of Afganistan were not Islam Radicals, infact, as history shows they were quite secular, the US CIA provided the Mujihadeen of Afgansitan with Stinger missle launchers to destroy Soviet Gunship Helicopters. Also, you must know that the Taliban fought the Mujihadeen of Afganistan for being "to moderate"... the rest is history
