"Just because you have an individual right to bear arms doesn't mean the state...can't constrain" Ummmm yes it does. 10th Amendment "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." The right "shall not be infringed."
@eurohim No. He is right. The reason is that the 14th Amendement does not provide equal protection of the 2nd Amendment as it does with the 1st, 4th, and 5th. It has been ruled on by the Supreme Court on 2 occassions.
@sabretooth75 And here I was reading direct comments from the people who actually wrote the constitution. Silly me. The Supreme Court has their own biases.
@coolVideos231196 Why would we ever want to be like you idiots in the UK?....your country is on the brink of collapse due to mass entitlements....the euro is failing....your nation is propping up a failing Greece....your govt health care is so pathetic that your political leaders and wealthy fly to the United States for fast quality health care.....maybe your just that stupid because your 15 yrs old and don't have a clue!
@muskymod We are not idiots. We get free health care which we pay out of tax. No nut cases shooting every tom dick and harry in sight. We just get like the odd 100 knife crime instead a month :D
@muskymod Hey man, no need to insult all of the people in the because of one user, you realise the uk doesn't use the Euro?. Also the political leaders and wealthy don't fly to the us, they use private health care in the uk, also the person was an idiot, but you are a little to.
DONT BE FOOLED BY THIS LITTLE COMMUNIST BASTARD!!!!!
I promise you if he is elected for a second term, there will a 4 year all out assalt on our gun rights!!!!DONT DOUBT THIS, and if Obama is elected and gets a chance to appoint anymore supreme court justices, most of your freedoms will be taken away over the next few years,,,think before you vote!!!
Also, before the uninformed get all upset, consider this: 90-140 MILLION Americans own firearms legally. We own almost 300 million firearms, with the average owner possessing 4 guns. Combined US military and LEO personnel amount to about 5-6 million in number. ANY attempt to ban guns universally, would result in conflict, up to and including Civil War. There's no way to disarm the world's largest militia when we are united. Don't let these idiots brainwash you into beliving this BS.
The supreme court determined the 2nd amendment is constitutional? what you don't know is that should he be re-elected the availability of ammo and reloading supplies will be severely restricted.
@20wgm11 yes because the fear mongers will keep saying untrue things to drive up the demand of ammo, which will dwindle supplies and prices will sky rocket..seems like that happened before..OH YEAH from November 2008 until about August of 2009..when the same people did the same thing and caused gun owners to panic, buy up ammo and guns, and the NRA, Gun companies, and Ammo companies laughed all the way to the bank. They are doing it again...and people are falling for it again.
so the people who follow rules are being punnished while criminals still dont follow the rules it takes seconds for me to lose my life and minutes for the cops to get there and put me in a body bag and go on tv with cowards who or are affraid of defending themselves from harm
YOU CANT MAKE CERTAIN! You can make certain that the law abiding citizens obey the laws though. Disarming lawful citizens is pointless...idiot. Either an idiot or anti-American
@DanTheVikingr By state and local governements and private institutions...yes. The Constitution is supposed to limit the abilities of the Feds. Does it happen, no but its supposed to. You have much more to fear from state governments than the feds. That's why California, NY, NJ, and Ill get away with their gun restrictions. We, as gun owners need to be vigilant at the state level.
the constitution is the only gun law i will ever follow. i will not register. i will not hand over. i will not conform to YOUR laws which are over ridden by the constitution, but i will fight until my last breath to defend my rights from enemies foreign and domestic. come and fucking take them.
Abama says that we have the right to own guns but the government has the right to take away those rights. Shit talking ass hole. Also, the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting.
@MeatSmudge I'm no Obama fan, but he didn't really dance around it in my opinion. He said that he hasn't done enough research to answer the question which is a more intelligent sounding way of saying "I don't know". He also said he doesn't favor an all out ban on handguns.
So my state can also limit my freedom of speech, and tell me what to believe? is it a coincidence D.C doubled all other state for violent crimes in 06? what criminal wouldnt want to live there?
Once again Obama says in plain english what his stand is. He has signed on three different issues in favor of gun ownership since he has been in office. I wish that more and more that ignorant people would actually look into the stuff their local gun shop owner, Elk elder, American Legion leader, hate group wizard, unholy church, or any other supremacist circle (that won't just die) tell them.
@potsynolls He just said, he likes the 2nd amendment but the state should be able to over ride it. That to me does not sound like he supports it. And it seems funny how states can override an amendment but when ca votes to and passes medical marijuana laws the U.S government can come in and override it and repossess business owners land.
@zgermann209 You have to understand the Constitution. Unlike other rights laid out in the Bill of Rights (Free speech and due process, for example), the Second Amendment does not aply to states under the 14th Amendement's equal protection provisions. That means that private organizations can ban guns and states can be as permissive and as restrictive as they want to be with gun control laws. As a Constitutional scholar, Obama understands that and supports that.
@sabretooth75 And before anyone tries to flame me on this point, read the Malloy vs Hogan , 378 U.S. 1 (1964) case where the high court ruled that the 2nd Amendement was, " one of the rights not yet held applicable to the states through the 14th amendment"
@usamachinist Probably because you don't understand what you are reading dumbass. But I enjoy enlightening people: In 1964 Malloy vs Hagan, 378 U.S. 1, the court ruled, "that the second amdnement is one of the rights not yet held applicable to the states through the 14th amendment." Now then, before you call someone an idiot..you might want to know wtf you are talking about. Now, I'll allow you a moment to remove the foot out of your mouth.
@sabretooth75 There is nothing in the 14th ammendment about the states not holding to the 2nd ammendment as far as I can see, Fuck the court you mention, I don't have it in front of me, But I have seen earlier SCOTUS cases protecting our 2nd ammendment rights and no mention of States rights would overrule it!
@usamachinist And in the Heller vs DC case, where the court found the ban unconstitutional CONSERVATIVE Scalia wrote the majority brief...he stated: Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose..This reaffirms that the 2nd Amendment is not covered by the Equal Protection Clause under the 14th.
@sabretooth75 I believe the 2nd Ammendment stands on its own merit, and the 14th Ammendment (which was written much later!)Guarantees equal protection to all citizens to have the right of the 2nd Ammendment! Makes little difference to me anyway, They can Pry my weapons from my cold and clammy dead hands!!! The Gov. is totally corrupt and it's really every man for himself at this point! I don't know which side ur on, but Excuse me for jumping on u initially!
@sabretooth75 The language of the second amendment is broad enough to embrace both federal and state governments----nor is there anything in its terms which restricts its meaning....Is this a right reserved to the states or to themselves? Is it not an unalienable right, which lies at the bottom of every free government? Georgia Supreme Court, 1846
@usamachinist Later SCOTUS decisions have not denied states the right to establish more resrtictive laws, in fact that have empowered them to do so. Aside from the case I mentioned, read Scalia's opinion on the DC ban, particularly section (2). How do you tihink California, NJ, Ill, and NY get away with it? If the 14th applied to the 2nd in the same way as it does to the 1st..this would not be an issue.
@sabretooth75 I just think the 14th amendment has been twisted to mean what the states want it to mean, Individuals have no control over what judges interpretation is! Therefore, I will live by the original intent of the 2nd amendment!
@sabretooth75 for example: "But to be in conflict with the constitution, it is not essential that the act should contain a prohibition against bearing arms in every possible form; it is the right to bear arms in defense of the citizens and the state, that is secured by the constitution, and whatever the restraints the full and complete exercise of that right, though not an entire destruction of it, is forbidden by the explicit language of the constitution. Kerntucky supreme court, 1822.
@usamachinist I don't disagree with that. However, state supreme courts make rulings that affect their particular states and are often used in other states. If anything your Georigia and Kentucky SC posts make it clear that states can pretty much do as they wish. The feds are more restricted, at least in theory if not in practice. For that purpose, we should be grateful, since there would be less states like Oregon and more like California, NY, NJ, and Illl
@sabretooth75 I guess I just lean toward the intent of the second amendment, For American citizens to be able to defend themselves from enemies in their hometown or in D.C. The rest is just defamation of the original intent!
@usamachinist I am a big supporter of the 2nd Amedment (see my video about HR 2252). But I also understand that our founders intended to make the states stronger than a centralized government. I also realize that until the 14th is explicitly applied to the 2nd, we will always be in danger of having state governments slowly errode our rights...much like California's legislature has been doing. If they couldn't do what they have been, someone would have sued their ass by now.
His answer is Bull Shit...the RIGHT of ""The People"" to bare arms, is for the purpose of warding off a "Tyrranous Government"...not an amendment that discusses "hunting" !!! He's either a complete IDIOT, or he a great Con Artist !!!!
@ikram505 Believe it or not people do enjoy things that you will not. It is vain to think that people shouldn't have guns because you don't see the point. The 2nd amendment is common sense. Are you actually willing to not take responsibility for your own safety gun or not? The ones who are motivated to take from you by force will not disappear. You are naïve to think that we have reached the point where personal defense has been mad obsolete.
@potsynolls Oh yes enjoy things that cause killing. You nut jobs are paranoid and brain washed. Oh and where I'm from guns are illegal, oh and our crime rate is much lower than yours. Wonder why.
@ikram505 Where are you from? in my county the sheriff refuses to approve CCWs and we set a new record for homicides in my town with 69 murders for 2011 and were number ten on forbes list of most dangerous cities.
@zgermann209 Well where your from is fucked up because our murder count in 2011 was 10. And I'm from Canada. And guns are illegal everywhere here. Our country always has a lower crime rate than you guys and one thing we have that you guys dont is that guns are illegal
@zgermann209 put some heat on sheriffs ass with media, votes and..write him get him to say no then sue...He is SWORN to your Protect your rights,,,not make his own laws..Some lawyer ought to tear his ass up...
@ikram505 Three reasons your crime rate is lower. One, your country is very small (easier to police). Two, you don't have the gangs we do. Three, Brits have no balls. I have trained with your military. What a joke.
@ardvarkkkkk1 My country is small!!?? Dear god have you ever seen a damn map!? Canada is huge, wtf are you talking about? I dont know where you got the idea that I was british. And please tell my why we dont have the gangs that you do? Is it because we're not nut jobs? So no point dis proven, we're not safer because we're smaller but guns are illegal here so I'm going to go with that. If a child is exposed to guns even just as decoration they are more likely to be violent < I didnt make that up
@ikram505 You have No Right to protect yourself with a gun? Do You Feel safer? Have it your way, But I'll protect myself from Enemies foriegn and domestic with a GUN!!
@ikram505 I'm not an Idiot that thinks it is cool to own a gun! I Think it is A God given right to protect myself! You are decieved if you think otherwise!!!!
@usamachinist So god says its ok to kill others? I think you are deceived, the statistics speak for themselves having 9k murders a years compared to 145(Canada) or 14(UK) clearly the US is more dangerous and its because guns are legal there. You dont need to own a gun, they just make things worse. You're brainwashed into thinking gun ownership is necessary but its not.
@ikram505 Your numbers may be true..but allow me to enlighten you. California has very restrictive gun laws and their crime rates are outrageous. I'm from NYC and have lived in NJ..gun restrictive states where crime is outrageous. FACT: In states where concealed carry permits are issued, crimes like murder, rape, and aggrivated assault have shown substantial declines as more people have gotten permits. And you are right, in the US gun ownership is not necessary..it's a right.
@ikram505 One more thing: in national surveys of prisoners, they acknowledge that they are far more afraid of dealing with citizens who wield guns than they are of the police. Legal gun owners actually deter criminals from committing crimes. Without a right to bear arms, we would have higher crime rates AND be subjects for our government.

@ikram505 You need to study history my friend, Gun control worked wonders in Nazi Germany, China, Russia, God is against Murder, Not Self defense! People like you just don't get it.
@usamachinist So you're comparing Americans to the Nazis? Ok yea I see your point, both are crazy murderers so you're right they do think alike. I guess you're right I just dont get it but you sir definitely do, somehow making excuses for your 9k murders a year, the US must be doing something right when it has 60x more murders than gun free Canada.
@usamachinist Enslaved.. good one -_-, I guess not being a moron is being enslaved. At least I'm not the retard living in a country with almost 10k murders a year, good luck in life and try not to get shot.
@ikram505 Buzz off Slave! You're making a Fool of yourself! I don't give a damn about numbers!! You got it! I have the capacity to be free with My God given right of self defense and my constitution! You are already screwed , One of my founding fathers wrote " Those who would give up Liberty for Security Deserve Neither" . So go away and kiss ur gov's ass!
@usamachinist how ironic he's talking about slaves and founding fathers, Fun fact: many of the founding fathers owned slaves. And of course you dont care about numbers, you're republican moron, they dont care about facts or evidence or science for that matter. half of them would believe the earth is flat if Sarah Palin said it was. Go march in the streets with your stupid founding fathers costume with tea bags on your head you fucking weird ass circus clown
@ikram505 Look Asshole! I've humored your your Screwed up Opinion long enough, In case you're not up on current events. the world is headed into anarchy! So Try to defend yourself with your B.S point of view! Just because a founding father( Mine , not yours) had some slaves, Doesn't make the statement untrue! Good luck up there in Canada! Wouldn't wanna be yuh!
@ikram505 ikram being naive doesnt help anything. canada has the luxury of being a country free of strong militaries and the need of guns due to its ability to piggyback american authority. canada has lower murder rates in large part due to your lack of dense population centers as well as americans being raised on the concepts of respect and the right to bare arms however it is most likely effected in a far greater fashion by the former
@ikram505 and canada tends to have higher rape rates the way we see it here in America is better a dead rapist than a defiled and beaten mother of two. so id trade those statistics any day.
@ljjvl Lol oh boy "canada has the luxury of being a country free of strong militaries and the need of guns due to its ability to piggyback american authority" trust me America's "authority" does nothing for Canada. And you really do just make shit up. Canada's rape statistics in 2011 were 491 and the US 89k! So thats 1.5 out of 100k ppl in Canada and 28.6 per 100k ppl in the US. Thats horrible! I dont want any of your statistics! Ur stats are always way worse and not by a small margin either!
@ikram505 Did you know that statistics show that even if you do not own or carry a firearm, that those that do it within your community actually decrease your chances of being victimized? Do you know just how low the incidents are of LEGAL gun owners committing crimes are in the US? Also, did you know that legal gun owners accidentally kill people about 30 times a year, compared to the police who "accdentally" kill 330 people a year?
@sabretooth75 if what your saying is true then how come countries where guns are illegal have significantly less murders by guns!!! And by significantly I mean 60-100x less. Come on man when the numbers are that drastic then obviously you guys are wrong not the rest of the sane world. clearly there is a serious problem in the US, how can you defend owning a fucking assault rifle after so many school shootings, the columbine shooter wouldnt have been able to kill that many ppl with a knife.
@ikram505 Where are you getting your information from? If you look at it as a homocides committed per 100,000 people, the US numbers are actually quite low compared to most countries. In the US, that rate is about 5.22 per 100,000. In South Africa, where gun rights are slowly being erroded, that number is 36.54 per 100,000 as of 2008. As for Canada, You have 34 million people as oppsed to the US's 314 million people. So your point fails on that alone.
@ikram505 Now, if there are about 9,000 murders commited with firearms every year in the US and there are 90-140 million gun owners with about 287 million firearms, that would mean that 10% (or less)of gun owners commit murders. However, it's less than that because criminals use illegally obtained firearms and their numbers are not counted in the numbers I gave you, since they do not report their purchases or answer surveys.
@sabretooth75 Omg ur driving me crazy, I wrote it very clearly, the # of murders without a weapon is almost the same, the ones with weapons are drastically different. And what u said makes no sense, there are 287 million guns and 90-140 million gun owners, so what? ever heard of someone owning more than 1 gun? And its easy to buy them illegally since they are legal, a somewhat sane person buys them and sells them to u. And you cant prove why there is less murders with guns in Canada so im right
@ikram505 And you can? No. You can't say guns are the reason why there are less or more murders in a given country. it's based on people not their methods. Can you prove that crimials are getting their guns from the legal gun owners that purchase the guns in the stores? no you cannot. So no, you are not right. And Yes I own guns and I own more than the 4 that average Americans do.
@sabretooth75 Yes I can say that, when we share a border and the only difference between us is the fact that one place has it legal and other places dont and the results show the place that has them legal has more murders then yes its obvious. And I dont know for sure where the criminals are getting their guns and you cant prove that the murders are not caused by registered owners, what I do know is that the US has more gun murders. when you do an experiment to see if there is cause and effect..
@sabretooth75 You have a control group and an experimental, these 2 groups are the same number of ppl/age/gender etc, and you give an intervention to the experimental and a placebo to the control, if the experimental group shows drastic results that are different than the control group then we can conclude that the intervention did something so I reject the null hypothesis. So this is very clear in this example by intervention we're saying legal guns. Control Canada, experimental US. Very simple
@sabretooth75 "You can't say guns are the reason why there are less or more murders in a given country." <-- I can say this and I wrote 2 fucking replies explaining it. there are 15k total murders, and 9k of those are by guns. when I did the population conversion with Canada, Canada had like about 1k murders WITH guns, but the 3 # of murders without a gun was like 4k and the US about 5k, so the US has 9k extra murders that the Canada doesnt. how is that not proving the fact that its cuz of guns?
@ikram505 Because you can't definitively say that the amount of murders would decrease if guns were banned. Specifically, the majority of gun-related crimes are committed by guns that were obtained illegally by individuals who cannot otherwise obtain guns. Also, you cannot definitley say that, since you have no way to prove that those murders would be committed using other implements (knives, clubs, poison, etc).
@ikram505 Guns are not what causes people to commit murders or other crimes, which is what you are trying to portray. People use guns, but they can just as easily use knives, cars, a wrench, or other implements to commit murder. So you fail.
@sabretooth75 You cannot prove to me why Canada, UK and all the other countries have way less murders committed by a gun and less murders in general. I can say its cuz of the guns because that is the only difference between the US and Canada. And as I said be4 the school shootings would not have been as deadly if the killers were using knives. You fail. I'm not going to waste any more time with you, You know I'm right but ur too proud to admit it, thats why you cant come up with better arguments
@ikram505 Wrong. The burden of proof is on you. Your argument is simply that because we have more gun freedom than you or the UK do, that guns are the reason why there are high levels of murder in the US. Yet, you have no way to prove that. To do so, you would have to account for a level of reduction in the factors that lead to crime: drugs, poverty, and violence. You would also have to account for how criminals obtain firearms and be able to eliminate that. Criminals are already
@ikram505 forbidden from obtaining firearms, yet they still get them. Until you control the criminal aspect you cannot prove that banning firearms would reduce the murder rates. And using countries that have 10-30% of the population than we do is a poor way to do so because statistcally, those places have increased rates in other areas. So th eonly real diffeences are that we have more people and you guys have higher rates of victimization. So it can be argued that your gun bans don't
@ikram505 work because criminals see unarmed citizens as easy prey. If you guys had looser gun laws, your would not have higher rates of rape and assaults than we do per 100,000 people. Whereas with us, it is statistically proveable that our rates would be higher if we did not have the right to bear arms.
@sabretooth75 Like I said I'm not going to entertain this anymore because you Mr highest crime rate than everyone else thinks you're right, but I do have to clear one thing up, we do NOT have higher rape cases, you do, I think I told you that before, Canada is 1.6 per 100k ppl the US is 28 per 100k. So please dont make shit up. Your stats are worse in everything. But of course somehow according to you the US is somehow the safest.
@ikram505 yeah, way to distort what I said. I never said the US was the safest. But you assertion that if we had tighter gun laws then there would be less crime is flawed. At best, it's just speculation on your part. At best, it's just assanine since you cannot prove it.
@ikram505 If what you say is true then the government would start setting laws outlaw the possession of knives. They can be deadly right? Why not outlaw them? We should also outlaw cars because they can also kill people. Oh and toothbrushes.
@blazedbl You're a fucking idiot, I love how you guys talk as if what you're saying is reasonable. The purpose of a knife is to cut food the purpose of a car is to travel the purpose of a gun is to kill so that argument is fucking stupid. And like I said 50x before, a school shooting would not be as deadly if it was with knives!! School shootings are deadly because the kid had a fucking assault rifle. In Canada school shootings are uncommon because getting guns is not easy, in the US its simple
@ikram505 Virgina Tech had guns banned from being on their campus, did that stop Cho from killing 33 people? Guns are only tools for killing if they are in the hands of a criminal, if they are in the hands of a responsible law abiding citizen they are merely tools of protection against those said criminals. I hope one day someone in your family has their life in the hands of a criminal, and then saved by a responsible gun owner. If you outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns.
@paonek1 so what if they were banned from their campus? no shit most schools dont allow you to bring a gun to school, that has nothing to do with anything, the kid could still easily get their hands on a gun because guns are legal and go to school and shoot everyone, its not like he bought the gun at school. And you talk about how its used to protect you, then why dont we have this problem in Canada? I never had someone pull a gun on me, and what would scare me more a knife or a gun?
@paonek1 And I would say, how would you feel if you or your kid died in a school shooting? . Or if some bar fight broke out and some idiot started shooting everywhere and you got hit?Ask the parents of the kids that died in the columbine or virginia teck shooting and see how they like guns, if you knew someone who died from being shot, you would change ur mind, I know a few ppl who have. Some ppl used to be gun loving until their friend died from being shot and they completely changed their views
@ikram505 My point was gun control does not work. If I was in a life or death situation and was getting shot at, I would have the appropriate TOOL to PROTECT my life. Criminals go for an easy target, not a law abiding gun owner. Just because alcohol was banned during prohibition did that mean that I couldn't get a beer?. Good people dont need laws and restrictions to tell them how to behave, and criminals will get around them.
@ikram505 Lets make it harder for sober people to own cars so we can reduce drunk driving accidents, that is EXACTLY what gun control does. The only people you hurt by wanting guns banned are the innocent people whom just want to protect themselves and their loved ones. Drugs are illegal, does that stop drug cartels from distributing? They NEED laws against drugs to even exist. And if my kid died in a school shooting I would blame the SHOOTER...not the gun. The gun didn't do anything.

@ikram505 The purpose of a gun or rifle is for defending yourself. Not anyones fault that people go off and kill each other. Most people that kill others with guns don't even have a license. It's not legal to own a gun if you have a certain amount of felonies depending on your state. It all comes down to responsibility and the majority of people that own fire arms are responsible with them because they know they are deadly.
@blazedbl I gave you proof, The US has more murders committed by a gun but the murders without a gun are the same when we convert Canadas population to the US. Its the guns that are causing these problems, I know it cuz when you compare the US to any other country where guns are illegal we see less murders by a gun in those countries so clearly its cuz guns are legal. its very obvious but you hillbillies skulls are so fucking thick that you dont want to admit that thers no point in owning a gun
@ikram505 "when you compare the US to any other country where guns are illegal we see less murders by a gun" Like Mexico, South Africa, Columbia, Brazil, Bolivia etc. What would you do if someone broke into your house and tried to killed you? Call the police? Good luck they would be there to take pictures of your dead body.
@whothaplaya yea I'm talking about a developed country, those countries dont really have laws, so in a way they're just like the US. In a normal country ppl dont run around with guns and they dont break into houses with guns, where I'm from robbers dont really break in to kill ppl, they just want to steal cash or something which is not even worth it if you dont know your way around the house cuz you wouldnt know where the valuables are, so in Canada ur most likely being robbed by someone u know
@ikram505 They do have laws. Mexico has VERY strict gun laws and they enforce them. The problem is criminals do not follow laws and will get guns regardless of what the law says. You realize that in the UK and Australia you are much more likely to be a victim of a violent crime and home invasions than the US. All banning guns would do is disarm people who are not willing or determined of committing crimes.
@ikram505 Right. Because the holocaust could NEVER happen in a "Developed" country that's only a bunch of conspiracy-theorist nonsense!
I have one good reason to own a gun. Tea Partiers have guns, that's why. Those "Hillbillies" you speak of who talk so much about liberty and freedom are the same people who supported George Bush's military police state.
There is literally NO way to defend yourself against the next holocaust (which is possible ANYWHERE) without a gun. Remember Bush.
@ikram505 If liberals don't own guns, CONSERVATIVES WILL. Do YOU want a bunch of Tea Partiers to overthrow the government and make the minimum wage a thing of the past? If not then you need to prepare yourself to PHYSICALLY fight against such an atrocity.
Just answer me a question, don't call me names and don't use strawman arguments, just answer this honestly. What WOULD you do if a SWAT team kicked down your door and started shooting your family members in front of you?
@ikram505 And before you answer "the military could take care of that" please remember that the military often fights immoral wars killing countless innocent civilians and seeing what they do in Iraq, I doubt they'd value human life much more over here if they were brainwashed enough by their drill sargeants.
Don't think the Tea Partiers are crazy enough to do such a thing? Or if not them, them the military itself, or SWAT teams? You seem to forget how crazy Bush really was.
@ikram505 The point of owning a gun is in the constitution. Get over it there isn't ever going to be any changing it so your ridiculous rant is pointless.
@ikram505 But you have to put those stats in context. Most murders are committed in cities, where gun laws are more restrictive, because the legal citizens have more places where they cannot carry and there are higher population centers. Using your source, Canada ranks ahead in rapes, assaults, and has a higher % of crime victims than we do. Wheres if you look at US stats, places where gun laws are more permissable, murders, rapes, and assualts actually are less per 100,000 people
@ikram505 In fact, a book called More Guns, Less crimes uses stats dating back to the 1970's to show that the more that states allow concelaed carry permits and the more they are issued violent crimes actually decrease over time. Muders are generally committed by repeat offenders, who purchase guns on the black market. There are very low instances of legally-abiding citizens committing violent crimes.
@ikram505 And Guns are not the reason these people commit crimes, only the tool they use. If there were no guns, they would use other devices like knives and bats. The device does not make a person a murderer or criminal. Muderers and other criminals use the devices. Given today's economic climate we can only expect crime to rise and in my town it has. Responsible gun owners are not looking to become criminals..only to defend their loved ones, themselves, and their property.
@sabretooth75 Ok Im about to settle this, im gona write a lot so bare with me.Ok so the US has 4.8 murders per 100k ppl.Ok so if I take their population and divide it by 100k and then multiply that number by 4.8 then I should have total # of murders. So that comes to 15029 murders in total in 2011,now 9369 of those murders were with a gun, so if we subtract that it will be 5660, so thats the total # of murders without a gun. So if I did the same thing to Canada. which will be 542 murders contn
@sabretooth75 contu..542 murders total, and 145 of those murders were with a gun so 397 murders without a gun.Ok so since the US is 10x bigger if we multiply 391 by 10 to make the population equivalent we would get 3970 which is closer to the US' 5660 total murders without guns, conclusion:guns cause more murders because the #of murders without guns is similar(if we pretended Canada/US had the same population) but the US has way more gun murders than Canada.Even in general Canada is less violent
@polarisindytrail5000 Ok well thats clearly different, he was talking about hand guns. And I dont think you plan on using these guns of yours. But I still dont think having guns lying around in your house is safe.
@ardvarkkkkk1 huh? I dont even know what you're replying to, but unless you're a cop then I dont think you have the skill to shoot someone in self defense, you and many others would end up shooting someone else.
@ikram505 The majority of cops can't shoot worth a dam. I am ex military. I carried and qualified with a pistol. In addition, I have fired thousands of rounds as a civilian. The majority of shootings in the US are over drugs, are between street gangs or others that can not legally posses a firearm. Outlawing them would just put all the firearms in the hands of the criminal. Guns would flood into this country. We have far to much coastline to ever keep them out.
obama... did you even listen to yourself? the state can restrain your rights... " the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" you just told the state they could infringe... You forget that this country was founded, such that the government got permission from the people, not the people got permission from the government.
oh by all means try and constrain my right. im not going to by shy about this, if you come to my doorstep, and a goon like you tries to take my firearm which is in my posession so i can defend myself from you in the first place, i will defend my rights with deadly force.
What was so outrageous that he said? He said, agreed, and confirmed that it is an individuals right to own a gun. He simply suggested we look at what types of guns people have access to and responsible ways to monitor their usage as a means of limiting gun related violence and deaths. HOW is that bad? Because it's a 2nd amendment right we should let drug dealers and mentally unstable people walk around carrying a handgun? This is not a black and white issue, there IS gray here in some respect.
It's sad that are own people in are government,Won't to see the evil people to over take the good. When they can 100% stop evil people from hurting the good. Then that is when no one needs them. But by God that day will never happen. Are own government wonts to take over. Just like Adolf Hitler did to his own people. Then they can do what ever they wont to.
But God works on the side of good. He is the boss. So Mr government people,Fear God,When you do evil. That is the only time to fear God.
@ilikezappa To love him is to fear him, The rules is has give us to do. If you do evil then you put a curse on your self and your family. Read his words ,And know them. The father just made the rules, And when people don't do has he tell us. Then it is the one that puts the curses on your self. The father has not a thing to do with it.
When people do good,Then he or she is blessed with love. The father is about love. Love is power of all things. A mom is feared when you do bad.
@NRAGreer As far as I recall , my Mom never set fire to me when I pissed her off ,although she probably felt like it. Loving someone means not torturing them or murdering them. Put your Bible down and read some other books ,is my advice.
The Second Amendment covers all the gun control we need and I do not believe the states have the right to add any other amendments in there state PERIOD!
So Obama pretty much says, you have rights, but the government can take them away. Um, that means it's not a right. Rights our inherit, meaning I don't have to ask, they are unalienable, meaning they can never be taken away. The government cannot take away that which it did not give. You do not need a permit...PERIOD! And they are not "Constitutional" rights they are RIGHTS.
The best way to stop criminals and the mentally unstable from shooting up innocents is to arm all of the innocents and train them, or at least a large portion of them that choose so.
Obviously the second amendment is about duck hunting. George Washington pointed that out very clearly. Imagine if ducks were armed. If our cattle would be armed the price of steak would go up.Vote for the freedom of cattle.
How DARE these two (Clinton/Obama) stand before a "We the People" banner!!!
MeInTheCornfield 18 hours ago
"Just because you have an individual right to bear arms doesn't mean the state...can't constrain" Ummmm yes it does. 10th Amendment "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." The right "shall not be infringed."
eurohim 2 days ago
@eurohim No. He is right. The reason is that the 14th Amendement does not provide equal protection of the 2nd Amendment as it does with the 1st, 4th, and 5th. It has been ruled on by the Supreme Court on 2 occassions.

20wgm11 4 days ago
@20wgm11 yes because the fear mongers will keep saying untrue things to drive up the demand of ammo, which will dwindle supplies and prices will sky rocket..seems like that happened before..OH YEAH from November 2008 until about August of 2009..when the same people did the same thing and caused gun owners to panic, buy up ammo and guns, and the NRA, Gun companies, and Ammo companies laughed all the way to the bank. They are doing it again...and people are falling for it again.

I wish that more and more that ignorant people would actually look into the stuff their local gun shop owner, Elk elder, American Legion leader, hate group wizard, unholy church, or any other supremacist circle (that won't just die) tell them.
potsynolls 1 week ago
@potsynolls He just said, he likes the 2nd amendment but the state should be able to over ride it. That to me does not sound like he supports it. And it seems funny how states can override an amendment but when ca votes to and passes medical marijuana laws the U.S government can come in and override it and repossess business owners land.
zgermann209 1 week ago 6
@zgermann209 You have to understand the Constitution. Unlike other rights laid out in the Bill of Rights (Free speech and due process, for example), the Second Amendment does not aply to states under the 14th Amendement's equal protection provisions. That means that private organizations can ban guns and states can be as permissive and as restrictive as they want to be with gun control laws. As a Constitutional scholar, Obama understands that and supports that.
sabretooth75 5 days ago
@sabretooth75 And before anyone tries to flame me on this point, read the Malloy vs Hogan , 378 U.S. 1 (1964) case where the high court ruled that the 2nd Amendement was, " one of the rights not yet held applicable to the states through the 14th amendment"
sabretooth75 5 days ago
@sabretooth75 You're an Idiot!! I just read the 14th Ammendment and don't get where you're coming from!!
usamachinist 3 days ago
@usamachinist Probably because you don't understand what you are reading dumbass. But I enjoy enlightening people: In 1964 Malloy vs Hagan, 378 U.S. 1, the court ruled, "that the second amdnement is one of the rights not yet held applicable to the states through the 14th amendment." Now then, before you call someone an idiot..you might want to know wtf you are talking about. Now, I'll allow you a moment to remove the foot out of your mouth.
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 There is nothing in the 14th ammendment about the states not holding to the 2nd ammendment as far as I can see, Fuck the court you mention, I don't have it in front of me, But I have seen earlier SCOTUS cases protecting our 2nd ammendment rights and no mention of States rights would overrule it!
usamachinist 3 days ago
@usamachinist I can read the 14th ammendment just fine , and understand it Just Fine, How some Dipshit court interprets it is another matter!
usamachinist 3 days ago
@usamachinist That wasn't some dip shit court. That WAS the SCOTUS. .
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@usamachinist And in the Heller vs DC case, where the court found the ban unconstitutional CONSERVATIVE Scalia wrote the majority brief...he stated: Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose..This reaffirms that the 2nd Amendment is not covered by the Equal Protection Clause under the 14th.
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 I believe the 2nd Ammendment stands on its own merit, and the 14th Ammendment (which was written much later!)Guarantees equal protection to all citizens to have the right of the 2nd Ammendment! Makes little difference to me anyway, They can Pry my weapons from my cold and clammy dead hands!!! The Gov. is totally corrupt and it's really every man for himself at this point! I don't know which side ur on, but Excuse me for jumping on u initially!
usamachinist 3 days ago
@usamachinist I'm on your side actually. But I prefer to use facts and not fear or lies.
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 The language of the second amendment is broad enough to embrace both federal and state governments----nor is there anything in its terms which restricts its meaning....Is this a right reserved to the states or to themselves? Is it not an unalienable right, which lies at the bottom of every free government? Georgia Supreme Court, 1846
usamachinist 3 days ago
@usamachinist Later SCOTUS decisions have not denied states the right to establish more resrtictive laws, in fact that have empowered them to do so. Aside from the case I mentioned, read Scalia's opinion on the DC ban, particularly section (2). How do you tihink California, NJ, Ill, and NY get away with it? If the 14th applied to the 2nd in the same way as it does to the 1st..this would not be an issue.
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 I just think the 14th amendment has been twisted to mean what the states want it to mean, Individuals have no control over what judges interpretation is! Therefore, I will live by the original intent of the 2nd amendment!
usamachinist 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 for example: "But to be in conflict with the constitution, it is not essential that the act should contain a prohibition against bearing arms in every possible form; it is the right to bear arms in defense of the citizens and the state, that is secured by the constitution, and whatever the restraints the full and complete exercise of that right, though not an entire destruction of it, is forbidden by the explicit language of the constitution. Kerntucky supreme court, 1822.
usamachinist 3 days ago
@usamachinist I don't disagree with that. However, state supreme courts make rulings that affect their particular states and are often used in other states. If anything your Georigia and Kentucky SC posts make it clear that states can pretty much do as they wish. The feds are more restricted, at least in theory if not in practice. For that purpose, we should be grateful, since there would be less states like Oregon and more like California, NY, NJ, and Illl
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 I guess I just lean toward the intent of the second amendment, For American citizens to be able to defend themselves from enemies in their hometown or in D.C. The rest is just defamation of the original intent!
usamachinist 3 days ago
@usamachinist I am a big supporter of the 2nd Amedment (see my video about HR 2252). But I also understand that our founders intended to make the states stronger than a centralized government. I also realize that until the 14th is explicitly applied to the 2nd, we will always be in danger of having state governments slowly errode our rights...much like California's legislature has been doing. If they couldn't do what they have been, someone would have sued their ass by now.

@ikram505 Your numbers may be true..but allow me to enlighten you. California has very restrictive gun laws and their crime rates are outrageous. ikram505 3 days ago
@ikram505 Did you know that statistics show that even if you do not own or carry a firearm, that those that do it within your community actually decrease your chances of being victimized? Do you know just how low the incidents are of LEGAL gun owners committing crimes are in the US? Also, did you know that legal gun owners accidentally kill people about 30 times a year, compared to the police who "accdentally" kill 330 people a year?
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 if what your saying is true then how come countries where guns are illegal have significantly less murders by guns!!! And by significantly I mean 60-100x less. Come on man when the numbers are that drastic then obviously you guys are wrong not the rest of the sane world. clearly there is a serious problem in the US, how can you defend owning a fucking assault rifle after so many school shootings, the columbine shooter wouldnt have been able to kill that many ppl with a knife.
ikram505 3 days ago

However, it's less than that because criminals use illegally obtained firearms and their numbers are not counted in the numbers I gave you, since they do not report their purchases or answer surveys.
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 Omg ur driving me crazy, I wrote it very clearly, the # of murders without a weapon is almost the same, the ones with weapons are drastically different. And what u said makes no sense, there are 287 million guns and 90-140 million gun owners, so what? ever heard of someone owning more than 1 gun? And its easy to buy them illegally since they are legal, a somewhat sane person buys them and sells them to u. And you cant prove why there is less murders with guns in Canada so im right
ikram505 3 days ago
@ikram505 And you can? No. You can't say guns are the reason why there are less or more murders in a given country. it's based on people not their methods. Can you prove that crimials are getting their guns from the legal gun owners that purchase the guns in the stores? no you cannot. So no, you are not right. And Yes I own guns and I own more than the 4 that average Americans do.
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 Yes I can say that, when we share a border and the only difference between us is the fact that one place has it legal and other places dont and the results show the place that has them legal has more murders then yes its obvious. And I dont know for sure where the criminals are getting their guns and you cant prove that the murders are not caused by registered owners, what I do know is that the US has more gun murders. when you do an experiment to see if there is cause and effect..
ikram505 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 You have a control group and an experimental, these 2 groups are the same number of ppl/age/gender etc, and you give an intervention to the experimental and a placebo to the control, if the experimental group shows drastic results that are different than the control group then we can conclude that the intervention did something so I reject the null hypothesis. So this is very clear in this example by intervention we're saying legal guns. Control Canada, experimental US. Very simple
ikram505 3 days ago
@sabretooth75 "You can't say guns are the reason why there are less or more murders in a given country." <-- I can say this and I wrote 2 fucking replies explaining it. there are 15k total murders, and 9k of those are by guns. when I did the population conversion with Canada, Canada had like about 1k murders WITH guns, but the 3 # of murders without a gun was like 4k and the US about 5k, so the US has 9k extra murders that the Canada doesnt. how is that not proving the fact that its cuz of guns?
ikram505 3 days ago
@ikram505 Because you can't definitively say that the amount of murders would decrease if guns were banned. Specifically, the majority of gun-related crimes are committed by guns that were obtained illegally by individuals who cannot otherwise obtain guns. Also, you cannot definitley say that, since you have no way to prove that those murders would be committed using other implements (knives, clubs, poison, etc).
sabretooth75 1 day ago
@ikram505 Guns are not what causes people to commit murders or other crimes, which is what you are trying to portray. People use guns, but they can just as easily use knives, cars, a wrench, or other implements to commit murder. So you fail.
sabretooth75 1 day ago
@sabretooth75 You cannot prove to me why Canada, UK and all the other countries have way less murders committed by a gun and less murders in general. I can say its cuz of the guns because that is the only difference between the US and Canada. And as I said be4 the school shootings would not have been as deadly if the killers were using knives. You fail. I'm not going to waste any more time with you, You know I'm right but ur too proud to admit it, thats why you cant come up with better arguments
ikram505 1 day ago
@ikram505 Wrong. The burden of proof is on you. Your argument is simply that because we have more gun freedom than you or the UK do, that guns are the reason why there are high levels of murder in the US. Yet, you have no way to prove that. To do so, you would have to account for a level of reduction in the factors that lead to crime: drugs, poverty, and violence. You would also have to account for how criminals obtain firearms and be able to eliminate that. Criminals are already
sabretooth75 1 day ago
@ikram505 forbidden from obtaining firearms, yet they still get them. Until you control the criminal aspect you cannot prove that banning firearms would reduce the murder rates. And using countries that have 10-30% of the population than we do is a poor way to do so because statistcally, those places have increased rates in other areas. So th eonly real diffeences are that we have more people and you guys have higher rates of victimization. So it can be argued that your gun bans don't
sabretooth75 1 day ago
@ikram505 work because criminals see unarmed citizens as easy prey. If you guys had looser gun laws, your would not have higher rates of rape and assaults than we do per 100,000 people. Whereas with us, it is statistically proveable that our rates would be higher if we did not have the right to bear arms.
sabretooth75 1 day ago
@sabretooth75 Like I said I'm not going to entertain this anymore because you Mr highest crime rate than everyone else thinks you're right, but I do have to clear one thing up, we do NOT have higher rape cases, you do, I think I told you that before, Canada is 1.6 per 100k ppl the US is 28 per 100k. So please dont make shit up. Your stats are worse in everything. But of course somehow according to you the US is somehow the safest.
ikram505 1 day ago
@ikram505 yeah, way to distort what I said. I never said the US was the safest. But you assertion that if we had tighter gun laws then there would be less crime is flawed. At best, it's just speculation on your part. At best, it's just assanine since you cannot prove it.
sabretooth75 1 day ago
@ikram505 If what you say is true then the government would start setting laws outlaw the possession of knives. They can be deadly right? Why not outlaw them? We should also outlaw cars because they can also kill people. Oh and toothbrushes.
Fucking dumb ass.
blazedbl 1 day ago
@blazedbl You're a fucking idiot, I love how you guys talk as if what you're saying is reasonable. The purpose of a knife is to cut food the purpose of a car is to travel the purpose of a gun is to kill so that argument is fucking stupid. And like I said 50x before, a school shooting would not be as deadly if it was with knives!! School shootings are deadly because the kid had a fucking assault rifle. In Canada school shootings are uncommon because getting guns is not easy, in the US its simple
ikram505 1 day ago
@ikram505 Virgina Tech had guns banned from being on their campus, did that stop Cho from killing 33 people? Guns are only tools for killing if they are in the hands of a criminal, if they are in the hands of a responsible law abiding citizen they are merely tools of protection against those said criminals. I hope one day someone in your family has their life in the hands of a criminal, and then saved by a responsible gun owner. If you outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns.
paonek1 21 hours ago
@paonek1 so what if they were banned from their campus? no shit most schools dont allow you to bring a gun to school, that has nothing to do with anything, the kid could still easily get their hands on a gun because guns are legal and go to school and shoot everyone, its not like he bought the gun at school. And you talk about how its used to protect you, then why dont we have this problem in Canada? I never had someone pull a gun on me, and what would scare me more a knife or a gun?
ikram505 21 hours ago
@paonek1 And I would say, how would you feel if you or your kid died in a school shooting? . Or if some bar fight broke out and some idiot started shooting everywhere and you got hit?Ask the parents of the kids that died in the columbine or virginia teck shooting and see how they like guns, if you knew someone who died from being shot, you would change ur mind, I know a few ppl who have. Some ppl used to be gun loving until their friend died from being shot and they completely changed their views
ikram505 21 hours ago
@ikram505 My point was gun control does not work. If I was in a life or death situation and was getting shot at, I would have the appropriate TOOL to PROTECT my life. Criminals go for an easy target, not a law abiding gun owner. Just because alcohol was banned during prohibition did that mean that I couldn't get a beer?. Good people dont need laws and restrictions to tell them how to behave, and criminals will get around them.
paonek1 5 hours ago

It all comes down to responsibility and the majority of people that own fire arms are responsible with them because they know they are deadly.
blazedbl 5 hours ago
@blazedbl I gave you proof, The US has more murders committed by a gun but the murders without a gun are the same when we convert Canadas population to the US. Its the guns that are causing these problems, I know it cuz when you compare the US to any other country where guns are illegal we see less murders by a gun in those countries so clearly its cuz guns are legal. its very obvious but you hillbillies skulls are so fucking thick that you dont want to admit that thers no point in owning a gun
ikram505 1 day ago
@ikram505 "when you compare the US to any other country where guns are illegal we see less murders by a gun" Like Mexico, South Africa, Columbia, Brazil, Bolivia etc. What would you do if someone broke into your house and tried to killed you? Call the police? Good luck they would be there to take pictures of your dead body.
whothaplaya 21 hours ago
@whothaplaya yea I'm talking about a developed country, those countries dont really have laws, so in a way they're just like the US. In a normal country ppl dont run around with guns and they dont break into houses with guns, where I'm from robbers dont really break in to kill ppl, they just want to steal cash or something which is not even worth it if you dont know your way around the house cuz you wouldnt know where the valuables are, so in Canada ur most likely being robbed by someone u know
ikram505 21 hours ago
@ikram505 They do have laws. Mexico has VERY strict gun laws and they enforce them. The problem is criminals do not follow laws and will get guns regardless of what the law says. You realize that in the UK and Australia you are much more likely to be a victim of a violent crime and home invasions than the US. All banning guns would do is disarm people who are not willing or determined of committing crimes.
whothaplaya 20 hours ago
@ikram505 Right. Because the holocaust could NEVER happen in a "Developed" country that's only a bunch of conspiracy-theorist nonsense!
I have one good reason to own a gun. Tea Partiers have guns, that's why. Those "Hillbillies" you speak of who talk so much about liberty and freedom are the same people who supported George Bush's military police state.
There is literally NO way to defend yourself against the next holocaust (which is possible ANYWHERE) without a gun. Remember Bush.
KingRadbadical1988 18 hours ago
@ikram505 If liberals don't own guns, CONSERVATIVES WILL. Do YOU want a bunch of Tea Partiers to overthrow the government and make the minimum wage a thing of the past? If not then you need to prepare yourself to PHYSICALLY fight against such an atrocity.
Just answer me a question, don't call me names and don't use strawman arguments, just answer this honestly. What WOULD you do if a SWAT team kicked down your door and started shooting your family members in front of you?
KingRadbadical1988 18 hours ago
@ikram505 And before you answer "the military could take care of that" please remember that the military often fights immoral wars killing countless innocent civilians and seeing what they do in Iraq, I doubt they'd value human life much more over here if they were brainwashed enough by their drill sargeants.
Don't think the Tea Partiers are crazy enough to do such a thing? Or if not them, them the military itself, or SWAT teams? You seem to forget how crazy Bush really was.
KingRadbadical1988 18 hours ago
@ikram505 The point of owning a gun is in the constitution. Get over it there isn't ever going to be any changing it so your ridiculous rant is pointless.

@ikram505 But you have to put those stats in context. Most murders are committed in cities, where gun laws are more restrictive, because the legal citizens have more places where they cannot carry and there are higher population centers. Using your source, Canada ranks ahead in rapes, assaults, and has a higher % of crime victims than we do. Wheres if you look at US stats, places where gun laws are more permissable, murders, rapes, and assualts actually are less per 100,000 people
sabretooth75 3 days ago
@ikram505 In fact, a book called More Guns, Less crimes uses stats dating back to the 1970's to show that the more that states allow concelaed carry permits and the more they are issued violent crimes actually decrease over time. Muders are generally committed by repeat offenders, who purchase guns on the black market. There are very low instances of legally-abiding citizens committing violent crimes.
sabretooth75 3 days ago

So if I did the same thing to Canada. which will be 542 murders contn
ikram505 3 days ago

@sabretooth75 contu..542 murders total, and 145 of those murders were with a gun so 397 murders without a gun.Ok so since the US is 10x bigger if we multiply 391 by 10 to make the population equivalent we would get 3970 which is closer to the US' 5660 total murders without guns, conclusion:guns cause more murders because the #of murders without guns is similar(if we pretended Canada/US had the same population) but the US has way more gun murders than Canada.Even in general Canada is less violent

@ikram505 One more thing: in national surveys of prisoners, they acknowledge that they are far more afraid of dealing with citizens who wield guns than they are of the police. Legal gun owners actually deter criminals from committing crimes. Without a right to bear arms, we would have higher crime rates AND be subjects for our government.

ikram505 1 week ago
@ikram505 The majority of cops can't shoot worth a dam. I am ex military. I carried and qualified with a pistol. In addition, I have fired thousands of rounds as a civilian. The majority of shootings in the US are over drugs, are between street gangs or others that can not legally posses a firearm. Outlawing them would just put all the firearms in the hands of the criminal. Guns would flood into this country. We have far to much coastline to ever keep them out.
