  • Listening to her brings to mind one phrase : "Sheer class and perfection". Our loss of her (like

so many others) was truly Heaven's gain.

  • voice of an angel, leave it at that!

  • if u had an army of starving cannibals....

  • so sad to lose such a great voice too soon,so smooth and creamy.

  • i would sex a warm scarf

  • god...she's cute... ;_;

  • @atfatw I bet your a fat middle aged man who can't accept talent because you don't have any, she was beautiful Person with the voice of an Angel, this is REAL MUSIC

  • she had a beautiful voice no matter how old the song is

  • wonderful video, thanks !

    :)

  • I don´t give a damn for beauty ideals as long as I can listen to such a great voice. If you want to discuss seize and weight please do this on the Weight Watchers homepage !

  • XfuckyouX24

ur name says it all thats how ""i feel about ur comment!""

  • Great voice, great talent.

  • when i was out at sea in the navy i was reading the teletype news (i was a radioman and took care of communication aboard and a teletype was what it sounds like, a typewriter that types messages or news that were broadcast) and noticed that mama cass passed away. i felt bad cause she was such a class act and the music world lost such a devoted member!

  • Cass is the classiest singer from the hippie era. God enjoys now her wonderful voice.

  • DO you THINK shed SOUND better if she was SKINNY!!??

SHE sang for ears not for EYES

  • @purselady2 That's why I'm reading the comments while listening to the video.

  • Class? Making her put on a circustent is not class!! Her voice is wonderful!

  • Pure class :)

  • ♫ Dream of feeding Ice-cream to Meeeee ♫

  • @noxomox HAHAHAHAHAH OMG THATS SOOO FUNNY!!!! Hey you know what you should try? Try having some respect and maybe a little class ASSHOLE

  • @madambuttahfly oh yeah, your reply reeks of "class" . . . are you a fatty too? Sorry but that was your decision in life . . . . not mine

  • @noxomox .... funny, but not nice!

  • MAMMA CASS SINGS FOR EARS NOT FOR EYES

  • @purselady2 aint that the truth!!!

  • As a pleasantly plump gal I find it a sad commentary on society that for as far as we think we have come as humans--there are still those that chose to judge others by their appearance. Mama Cass seemed like a kind & very talented artist...what more do u want? Those of u that left ignorant & nasty comments must be all perfect yourselves. Grow up people & look past the exterior--do u like others judging you? Not very nice is it? Peace.

  • one of the most brilliant voices

  • such a sweet song,full of love.

  • a nice song

  • What singer these days can display this kind of talent in a LIVE recording, sans autotune, producing fixes and what not? This is raw talent, and it doesn't come along often... Awesome.

  • @JohnGalTHM yeah i love her singing this but there is talent about 1 word Adele!

  • Owen Elliott....mama cass's daughter says Mama Cass sung this song to her "forever"

say what you will. Ellen Cohen aka Mama Cass was a class act par none

  • Aloha...I was a teenager vacationing in Hawaii with my cousins who live there when I first heard this song. Great songs freeze frame a place & time like this one did.

  • A class act and songbird shot out before her prime.

  • Only a luscious fat lady can sing like that !

  • I love that she's smiling thru the whole song. I think it makes her performance even better, if that's possible.

  • Im 55 years and this song brings back so much, it nearly brings me to tears. She and Him come along with their cover and it like a life experience all over again.

  • Music is made for ears. Not eyes. :)

  • A beautiful heavenly voice! She will go on forever. You only have to look at all of the recent comments to appreciate how many people are still listening to her. Even those who left the ignorant comments about her looks must have appreciated that voice. I wish she she was still with us.

  • People don't make sense. A person's weight doesn't define their personality, or their talent. She's a beautiful person.

  • @Aristes no she wasn't she sucked! and so do you

  • @Aristes But, would you sex her?

  • Just because a majority of u are Fat doesn`t mean you have to protect Cass...Lets face it, she was fat , Ugly and she had a very beautiful voice!!!!!

  • @1SNITCH She was not ugly, yeah she wasnt no Ann Wilson, but she was pretty.

  • @XfuckyouX24 Pretty fat you might say.

  • As long as I can listen to such a voice, I don´t give a damn for the way she looks. If someone wants to discuss weight, please visit the Weight Watchers homepage

  • I meant to say "bogan" but my iPad autocorrected

  • She is very hogan fat, but I'll give due credit to her rich lavender voice. Her voice reminds me of lavenders and roses and custard, how weird.

  • Chubby chasers luv Mama Cass!

  • Did she just come from Santa picture day?

  • Damn look at those teeth. I bet she could tear the fuck outta a huge steak.

  • Beautiful singing. I loved this song and after so many years still thinking she was a great singer!!!

  • I'm not of this generation but what an amazing voice!

  • I have sung this song to my kids since they were babies. The first time my daughter heard Cass sing it she was speechless. She had big wide eyes and she whispered "mamma, that lady sings pretty" then she said "She sounds A LOT better than you mamma".

  • @SuperBrobo

One day by accident, my pregnant wife played this in the car on a cd. Our daughter would respond to this song whenever we played it, no other, this song. And it had to be sung by Mama Cass. My daughter is 13 now and likes the music of that era but has no special affinity for the song or the Mamas and Papas. Still, it is a wonderful memory of a great group and especially Mama Cass.

  • @SuperBrobo Children are VERY sincere...lol

  • Mama Cass had one of the best female voices of the 60's for this type of torch song.

  • I love this. This is Mama Cass' finest one ever.

  • im only 20 but i looooooooove mama cass!!!!! i love this song sooooooo much. but i have to say...shes got some really long canines...lol.oh well.still love her!!

  • @macpromikem youre an imbecile go choke on jizz

  • I love this song and this is definitely the only version I listen to. Her voice is just so pure and free flowing. Absolutely beautiful

  • Wonderful...just wish i had a time machine to go back to when music was real...paul 47 yo guitar player,Gillingham,Medway ,Kent ,England

  • All should listen to Doris Day's version. Not better, just different style.

  • real music not fucking nig music

  • @VICIOUSVORTMAX By "nig music" I guess you are referring to black music? Do you not realise that a lot of the 60's music was inspired by black culture? Elvis was possibly the most notable example of a white man using the soulful music of the black south. Radio stations refused to play his music at first because they thought he was black. So what's your point caller? If you are referring to today's music then I'm right with you but not just black artists, music as a whole is not as good as then.

  • I remember her TV special called "Don't Call Me Mama Anymore!".

  • shes the best

  • bravissima, bellissima voce... peccato per la Nutella nascosta sotto il letto...

  • She looks like a man in drag here. Seen her look better

  • All you people saying how fat she is need to shut your fucking mouths I'd love to see you try to sing as beautifully as her. This woman is a legend.

  • @theambercupcake

she sings very beautifully, with a clear tone and a lot of soul. But she's still fat

  • @theambercupcake

    you speak the truth.

There are days if I should hear this in the a.m. I can't get this out of my head all day. But that is NOT a bad thing, her cover will pass the test of time -no doubt

  • correction: "Choke" on a sandwich.

  • Comment removed

  • I rate Mama Cass very highly, along with the likes of Dusty Springfield, Barbara Dixon, Brenda Lee - nice clear strong female voice.

Please enjoy her singing voice, what had Mama Cass ever done to offend anyone?

  • @macvatu in all fairness wasn't hit her weight that cost her her life and therefore denied the world her talent for years to come?

  • @macvatu a decent singer she was mostly responsible for the success of the mamas and the papas she and the skinny girl whose name eludes. their different voices were the best! what a bitter sorrow it was that a super colossal oversize ham sandwich dripping with butter, beaten raw eggs, and bacon bits took this talent's life

  • @macvatu You might say a ton of things.

  • I remember having a little crush on her when I was about 10 or 11 years old. Not long after that, she died. The mamas & papas would"nt be without Cass.

  • I have never seen one negative comment about Mama Cass, can you folks get over it? You don't have to keep saying "she's beautiful bla bla bla". It's fine no one's saying anything bad.

  • @dylanlawless1 Exactly my thoughts

  • @dylanlawless1 The women was ridiculed about her appearance for her full professional career, even making a joke about her death saying she shocked on a sandwich.

  • @ZNORXtj you nailed that on the head. i couldn't of said it better. she is not a "Woman" but instead she is multiple "Women" you sir, are a genius. by the way, she did "Chock" on a sandwich. it wasn't plugged in or battery operated to "Shock" her. most people would of seen that as a simple typo. but i didnt, i saw it as an incomplete two liner about a woman and her eating ability's. thank you again sir for the setup of the week.

  • Such a big rich voluptuous voice ....

    smother me luscious , ahhhh¦)

  • She was a beautiful woman with a great voice - years later - sad that we appreciate what she left behind. But as the saying goes - the good die young ... :(

  • Ignore the morons with the negative comments !!!!

  • beautiful, image is nothing, rather than our perceptions

  • This woman had a beautiful voice. I don't think most people know how old this song is. Many of the great singers of days past would not get a chance today. Music has been corrupted into a visual media where less talented yet more "attractive" singers advance.

  • @cspace1234nz In the spirit of the season? Asshole.

  • @bdgop Piss off, you think you are all of a sudden the youtube policeman or something ?

Yet you call me an asshole ? That would make you no better than what you claim me to be, fucking idiot !

  • @cspace1234nz hahaha

  • Gaggag can only dream of being this talented. Mama Cass didn't have to rely on shock value to be a success.

  • MAN THE HARPOONS!

  • @MrLeGarry And good evening to the Japanese viewers...

  • her voice lightens my heart

  • Great voice.

  • Love her!! Love this song!

  • Ahhh that's so sweet , but it's not it fault , singers we're singers then not models or strippers , lol

  • @macpromik You know its Lady "Gaga" right?

  • hey everyone i'm a 15 year old, and sincerely apologize what my generation has done to music...

  • @injectablefame666 oh its not your generation that has done this to music. all these new people are in their 20s and 30s so I should be the one apolagizing. lol Hello everyone I am 23 and I sincerely apologize for what my generation has done to music...

  • Awesone Mama Cass...as usual

  • Fat, ugly, whatever you want to say about her, she's as beautiful as her voice, and her voice is pretty god damn beautiful...

  • I'm 35 and I would love to cuddle up with mama cass if she were still alive.. sadly fate decided she would sing in heaven.

God , the music today pales when set aside past music like cass Eliot

  • One could think people come here to listen, not to masturbate they eyeballs with pictures of half naked pop stars. If that's the case, it's not weird at all that they don't like Mama's appearance...

  • Perfect.

  • I miss you Mama Cass, You and the Mamas and the Papas

  • such a beautiful lady.

  • her voice is absolutely beautiful.Love mama Cass. That's one of several reasons I don`t care about music today....I just don´t need it.

  • @Darbukarlitos1 her voice just so beautiful and melow!

  • She seemed really happy- and that's what counts!

  • I dont care what everyone else says, Mama Cass is beautiful. Oh, and also a legend.

  • @lolziepops I wouldn't say "everyone else." There's many people like me who agree with you completely. If some low class douche wants to make fun of her appearance, that's his private hell to live in.

  • @lolziepops agreed

  • @lolziepops .... I totally agree with you. Who cares that she wasn't a size zero? DIdn't change the fact that sista could sing circles around these anorexic bitches out there today.

  • @lolziepops you better be fucking kidding

  • @lolziepops I totally agree. Her beauty comes deep from within. What a lovely spirit. Her voice heals me.

  • @lolziepops Mama Cass will always rock. She is beautiful inside, out, and vocally. The world would be a much better place with her now.

  • @lolziepops But that's what everyone says...

  • Great lost,R.I.P. Cass, you will always be missed

  • This was a time when it was all about how good you were, and not about your looks.

  • Im sorry but... you wont fit in to a little dream :(

  • Beautiful!!! Wonderful talent. Brings back wonderful memories. Rest in Peace Mama Cass.

  • Oh my that's a big Building

  • Youtube is the most successful platform for the opinions of idiots that has ever existed. Never has so much rubbish been spoken so stupidly, with such venom, so frequently, by so many.

How can we hope to survive if this represents the general state of human intelligence?

  • why ,how do you want her look ,like you maggots, what about the voice, the tune, the lyrics, this is a song my 7year is singing at her school break concert,52 dislikes go on pull your head out of your arse before you become more tragic and suffer total lonliness.A HOLE

  • The old joke is if Mama Cass had given Karen Carpenter her ham sandwich both would be alive now. I think they both would have appreciated the joke, I really do. Both giant talents who left us too soon.

  • It's the inside that counts. Mainly the lungs.

  • lovely song

  • Who cares what about looks? What a BEAUTIFUL voice!

  • A true star with a pure voice!

  • what a classic top this if you can

  • Soothing angel's voice!!!! Truly inspiring!

  • @1960BarbaraAnn No I genuinely think she was thinking about food. I'm no comedian and i don't try to be.

  • I can't stand when people try to compare artist from this time to artist from today. I love this style of music and I love the music today...Shut up people and listen to the damn music!

  • @ibreonica here here!!

  • I don't care about size ... she had more talent in her little finger than beyonce and Lady Gaga Have in both of their bodies combined.

  • @Thelonesniper101 You´re so right. You can find artists with an angel´s voice and comments of people with nothing else on their mind than discussing size, weight or beauty ideals.I guess some people´s got voice, talent and charisma and others got just a good portion of envy and a notebook

  • @Thelonesniper101 She is better then Lady Gaga.....but Lady Gaga is still extremely talented and you can't say other wise...even if you don't like her style of music

  • @Thelonesniper101 depends how you measure talent. So go away with your stupid utterly subjective comments.

  • i hate this generation of youth. i love the sixties along with many indie slash alternative rock + blues and i am in 2nd year high school, i am 13 an nobody likes my musical choice. sometimes i just want to kill myself, and see mama cass to sing me a lullaby

  • @villarealian The sixties generation led to today's youth. The sixties said that there was no such thing as absolute truth. In other words, "what you believe is what you believe and what I believe is what I believe. Nobody is right. I can live the way I want and you have no right to tell me I am wrong."

  • is it just me or is Adele really Mama Cass????

  • Her face says a lot... so sweet... like a song..

  • Heavenly voice and there's no other word for this woman

  • love you Mama...voice of velvet.

  • She looks like she was singing about food you can see it in her actions... May she RIP

  • she is awsome! haters are stupid.

  • @clairenunavut

    stupid haters...

  • @Impaktaoff well its their loss if they cant see how awsome she was

  • AWESOME.

  • So ugly

  • @momentoangular1 Ugly? ..........While you are entitled to an opinion, have you considered that your comment is "ugly" and like a poison. I do understand, I too spoke my mind for many years and alienated many people. Why not try a little kindness, you will gain so much in the process, and you'll find that you will begin to feel better about yourself as well.

  • @MerCherBer17 I agree. Mama Cass = beautiful!

  • Beautiful voice. Taken from us way too soon.

  • The original Adele.

  • A legend....A beautiful voice...sweet dreams mama cass

  • MAMMA CASS:::::HAD STYLE:::PERSONALTY;;;;;;;AND OF COURSE ''GREAT SINGER

  • Always one of my favorite female singers...she had as great a voice as anyone in that era. Maybe Judith Durham of the Seekers and one or 2 others were in her league.

  • My generation loved Cass and was in great pain to see her leave. But listen = She is still with us .

  • Mama Cass was an AMAZING woman..

  • My mom used to sing this song to me when I was a baby.

  • One of the greatest voices of all time! And the beauty to go with it! I wish you had stopped to talk to me!

  • must have been great to live in those times, when people made nice music- not bitchslapping gangbanging gangstarap-, and nice cars - not 4 wheeled soaps

  • @rchrdbgi8 Thats entirely innacurate... except for the beautiful part THATS true.-

  • @dmnemaine well she died of a heart attack! But not because she was overweight, but because she had a pre-existing heart condition, so even if she was "healthy" she probably would have ended up the same way in any case. Its just so sad she had to die so early in life... :_(

  • Same Ham Sandwich that took out Janis Joplin got Cass Elliot too... .

  • She died of anarexia. An eaing disorder and before you say anything you don't have to be thin to die of anarexia it is the shock of loosing too much weight too quickly. But just listen to that voice.I think she is beautiful. What a shame so tragic a loss.

  • a great voice to a great song.

  • beautiful woman, wonderful voice ):

  • LARGE AND IN CHARGE ... until she ate one ham sandwich too many.

  • @tsartodd check your history,,and then delete. stop spreading ignorance. She was a amazing

  • @tsartodd

She didn't die from a ham sandwich, moron. Here's a lesson for you, since you seem to be missing in smarts, don't take history lessons from tv and rumors!
