if this is footage that aired on KTCA in 1979 I remember watching this as a 16 year old and not knowing what to make of it. I wish then that I knew the gravity of what I was witnessing. I remember him singing "your pretty face is going to hell" and being blown away.
I just saw the ending, that's crazy rare I would think. Now I know I'm gonna get a lot of conjecture from the punk rockin freakin weirdos but could that possibly the first time that DIY was encouraged outright as "Do It Yourself". I know there were plenty of DIY'ers in the punk scene, but I dunno if they called it "Do It Yourself". If so he's the godfather of everything, if not he nailed the question at least. Simple, concise, do it your own self.
i'm so sorry to hear about the unfortunate mishap with the spit. you know you gotta remember there are other people there to spit on. if he focused on just one dude he'd waste all that spit. think of the people who got puked on, that'll probably never happen again :( Iggy please puke on my face :(
Fantastic footage... I had to sift through the standard clips for a while to unearth this gem, but thank you for the upload... most enjoyable. If footage such as this exists, isn't it time there was a worthwhile documentary made for the 1977-82 period encapsulating everything from The Idiot to Zombie Birdhouse?
Amazing...he is the onlyone I've ever seen in rockn'roll who doesn't have tattoos to emphasize how cool and how very rockn'roll he is...:-) This guy is awful nice.
Dude Iggy Pop is not poor at all, instead, he's quit wealty. Songs that he has written are on albums of artists like David Bowie, Lou Reed and The Sex Pistols and he gets money for every copy sold.
This show was the first time I ever went to a bar/nightclub to see a band. There was a good brawl in the audience that night. I got to meet Iggy at the Wax Museum Records in-store autograph signing. He signed my copy of Raw power. I had just turned 18 years old.
Wow! I wish I'd been close when I saw Iggy in 1979, at the Stardust Ballroom in H'wood (a dive). It was a wild, hair-raising experience. I fell, I got hit, got felt-up, stomped on; I lost my shoes...
I finally saw Iggy again (w/The Stooges) in 2007, and it was almost as crazy as when I saw him in '79. I went home covered in bruises (but happy) from being-front row in the pit. I'm too much of an old-lady for this stuff now, but Iggy's STILL going strong. The man's immortal.
That Brian James is incredible too. I can't believe he isn't more famous these days. The Ig comes off totally disgusted and exhausted but still putting on an amazing show. Glad he's alive and healthy. Wouldn't have expected such a happy outcome looking at that vid and interview.
haha you seem like a asome man but i mean you are bringing the crazy music and wacky dance mooves too the audiance... soo you know some crazy teens are gunna start a mosh pit or a fight soo dont stop that amazing music IGGY POP I LOVE YOU...

Had Iggy Started his career 10 years later then he had he'd of been a multi millioniare 100 times over.
The prophets usually stay poorer and hungrier then the clones that come along later and steal their ideas while turning huge profits in the process.
