But in that case, one may wonder what is the point of music videos ?

To me this song sounds very 1988-ish. You can easily imagine Kate Pierce singing the backing vocals and Michael still having hair! Surprised me when I found out this song was released in '01, because it sounds like something from one of their late 80's records.
