I think you forget that just as many men have children as women :) , just because the woman happens to be the vessel for pregnancy and is subject to most of the danger that is involved with this responsibility is it really fair that she should shoulder all the financial burden aswell, there should be paternal responsibility too. My sister has lways had insurance & is very healthy and responisble but now has to be on bed rest for the last month of her pregnancy. i was amazed that they would no longer cover her bcuz her pregnancy was a pre-existing condition! I couldn't believe that even counted its not like she was pregnant & then got insurance. I just dont understand how being born woman & being the gender in the marriage that actually bears children suddenly amkes you the irresponsible one.

The thing is, you're going to pay for it anyway. The lung cancer victim will go to the er or stiff doctors and make our costs go up. You don't actually have to do a mandate, you can have a penalty added to the premium if they wait until they get sick to buy insurance, like what they do with Medicare. That's an option anyway.

the curent healthcare system is such a hell hole that public option is not going to make things better, we should go back to the basics of.. Dr provides a service and we (the patient) pays for it, only using insurance for huge life altering problems. it use to be that if billy broke a leg, you would go and pay 20 bucks to get it fixed. now adays theres so much fighting between insurance companies, dr, and patients that no 1 is benifiting from it all, and the gov is no better then the comps

I think people on unemployment makes sense, if they can prove they are diligently searching for a new job. When you're jobless, you still have a duty: To find a job. Finding a job takes up as much of your time sometimes as actually working. Proving you're not wasting your time should be rewarded with unemployment benefits. Failure to do so means no more benefits.

well no, see I am what they call a "gold star" lesbian, which means I have never had any sexual relations of any kind with anyone who sees themself as "male" (be it biological or gender-wise). If I was to ever have a child biologically it would have to be through IVF or a turkey bastor and a cup. But I would think IVF would be better because the sperm could be cleaned (hence not have any STD's in the semen carrying it). No, dick is for dudes, not dykes (in my world).
