  • Please!!! Can the guy who uploaded the video and did this work tell me what did he do to get this sound?? Awesome sound

  • By far best sounding Duramax video I have yet to see! Love it keep it up!

  • Duramax, Powerstroke, and Cummins, The 3 BEST Diesel motors you could put in a pick-up.

  • I was reading the comments and Cummins have soft aluminum pistons that burn through on a hard pull, their weak point. As for the Duramax: chevy engineers dont know how to build a real diesel engine... the 6.2 was a failure as was the 5.7 (Oldsmobile).

  • @dollman0 your trolling ability leaves much to be desired.

  • @dollman0 your right chevy engineers dont know how to build a diesel, so they didnt dumbass. Izuzu makes the engines. Or atleast used to. i dont know if their built in house now or not.

  • @foxracing279 The crankshaft and the rods are built in Japan. But the rest, plus full assembly takes place in Moraine, Ohio. Dmax isnt the only diesel; The International DT466 (commonly found in medium duty trucks and buses) is also partially built in Japan. It's not because they dont know how to engineer, it's the cost of labor, paying all them union workers, and having to put up with all the government bullshit rules and reg's. So all 3 automakers HAVE to outsource labor just to make profit.

  • @BBTthetank I was saying that izuzu designed their engines. The guy I was talking to was saying that chevy cant design a diesel, well they didnt. Just like ford with navistar-international, and dodge with cummins, chevy had izuzu design the duramax. Like I said I dont know about nowadays though. I know the 6.7 powerstroke is being built in house by ford.

  • @foxracing279 It's the same with the LML duramax (2011) its entirely in house now.

  • @dollman0 the duramax is an isuzu diesel and it is the fastest full weight tuned diesel I have ever seen. 10.70's@127mph and gets 23mpg on the highway

  • @dollman0 The Cummins (5.9 and 6.7) are 100% cast iron. That means internal and external. Why do you think the cummins weighs the most even though it has 2 less cylinders and 30% less moving parts? None of the company's except ford are making their own diesel. The Duramax (Isuzu and GM) and the cummins are both amazing motors. I miss my cummins, but I got a Duramax because it wasnt badly priced, and its loaded to the tits. The Cummins had just rolled 1.7 MILLION MILES and was still goin strong.

  • @dollman0 the 6.2 was never meant to be a puller, didnt even have a turbo. it was meant for longevity and fuel efficiency..and the 5.7 was a rushed mistake, why the fuck are you putting down technology used 30 years ago? so what does the duramax have to do with the 6.2 and 5.7? nothing lmao trying to put down a new and completely different engine compared to a 30 year old dinosaur lol good argument

  • @schmitz1988 I am really happy to waste days of my time fixing a manufacturing defect in the Duramax. If you don't know what I am talking about, try replacing the reluctor ring on the oil pump drive gear after all the bolts fall out on the highway when the truck only has 36,000 miles and the dealer don't want to fix it. I had to buy a butt load of special tools to work on the Duramax and the shop I work in don't have anything for this engine. The fun part was torquing the flywheel 180 degrees

  • @dollman0

    6.2 wasn't a duramax, good try though

  • @dollman0

5.7 was a failure? Their LS1's are 5.7's and are some of the toughest motor's built... as are their older 350's..

I've worked in industry, i've seen it all, Duramaxx outlasted them all.

  • sounds like a beast

  • i'm starting to like the turbo diesel. lots of torque and an awesome sound.

  • I love it ahhaha!!!

  • look i can see myself in the bumper!!!:D

  • whats the sound at 1 minute?

  • chevies suck

  • @metallicaman3331 if you cant spell it right, dont hate...

  • hummer in the background = failure!!!

  • Did u guys know that durmax engines are not chevy made they are Isuzu

  • @86camaroboy Yep, the very same Isuzu that makes the majority of Medium Duty diesel/Cab forward commercial trucks and has been making reliable diesels for 6 decades... That was one of the best selling points of the engine for me, and one more reason I didn't get the Ford with it's all Ford design engine..

  • @86camaroboy Actually the Duramax engine was a joint venture back with the lb7 engine with Isuzu, But GM owned half of Isuzu at the time. It has been made and produced in Ohio. Since Isuzu backed out of the states and stopped doing business with GM in 06, GM has been doing the redesigns and production of the Duramax engine all on its own.

  • @zr2chevypickupman right now gm owns 60% of duramax and isuzu still owns 40% look it up on the duramax's website

  • the tire looks so small haha

  • what kind of exhaust system do u got to make that so loud i like it. it make that chevy sound badass.

  • mine ill do that to lol

  • cummins and duramax, best diesel engines you'll ever buy

  • It black smokes because it's a diesel. It's just unburnt fuel

  • so whats the black smoke from? oil?

  • @AndyRoddick969 You're dumb.

  • @countrybyo your the dumb one, its called a joke. . .

  • @AndyRoddick969 if it was burning oil it will be light blue smoke

  • No wastegate on a variable vain turbo.

  • @bnowlin001 I have to beg your pardon on this. I have a 07.5 lmm and it does indeed have a wastegate on it.

  • @LRWarrior If you've put an aftermarket turbo in your truck, then your are correct. But a wastegate is not needed in a variable vane turbo. The purpose of a wastegate is to open to control boost pressure. The vanes in a variable vane turbo "open" and "close" to do the same thing.

  • @bnowlin001 Yeah, you are right. My bad for sounding like a complete idiot. I went out to the truck and looked and sure enough no wastegate. I don't usually fuck up like this. lol Thanks for giving me a reason to pop the hood again. :D

  • @bnowlin001 a wastegate isnt required in any diesel. diesels dont have a throttle plate because they are always taking as much air as possible. high compression means turbo surge isnt a problem either

  • Some of that whistling is turbo boostin', most of the higher pitch loud whistle is the turbo wastegatin. Sounds excellent to be sure but search wastegate to hear more of this glorious music.

  • how to you open your turbo vanes

  • the 2 dislike were either powerstroke fans or justin bieber fans :D

  • Powerjoke ain't got shit on this

  • Long live GM !

  • THE WHISTLES GO WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I just got an earection...

  • how do i make mine sound like this..

    sounds amazing.

  • sounds like a damn bottle rocket.

  • AEM Brut Force CAI and a chip will have a duramax turbo sounding real nice.

  • i got a 05. love it

  • Sounds just like my chevy 3500 daully turbo

  • @GarrettKeetley Get a Ford 7.3

Don't get any other Ford diesel engine, they are all shit, from what I've heard

    Or go for a Cummins

  • @mirlin235 I call them Powerjoke

  • @alex189100 Powerstrokes, in my opinion are far better than a Duramax

Cummins destroys both, unless you fine tune a 6-6.4-6.7L Powerstroke, or the 6.6L Duramax, Cummins destroys both

Its simple understanding of how they work, but I'm a ford guy, I prefer my 7.3L over any Chevy or GM, but thats just me

    I also call them Duracraps

  • @mirlin235 Im going have to say your an idiot. Because all of the diesel engines are about the same in power and torque. (talking stock) its jsut what you prefer And out of all the diesel engines, duramax is actually the biggest at 6.6 L most ford and dodge come at a 6.4 L. Im a GMC guy and I would have to sound the best. and the Duramax is fast as hell for a diesel. plus I think GMC has nice looks (gas or diesel)

  • @mirlin235 Have you replaced your tranny yet? And have fun with the slowest diesel of the decade. I have to say though, the 7.3 will run, well walk, forever.

  • @02duramaxlb7 Um my tranny? Dude I don't own a F250 Super Duty yet, I'm planning on buying one in the next few months, and from what I've heard, International's trannys never die, unless you fuck around with them

  • @mirlin235 The engine is made by international but not the transmission it is ford. Btw don't buy a powerjoke they suck I drive a damn stroke everyday at work and the damn thing has no power. I like my dmax better. If you do get a stroke though get a 7.3 not a shitty 6.0

  • @Zolatoner No with the 7.3L both the tranmission and engine are made by International

the 6.0L was assited by Navistar, which owns International, but it was a quick build, not a quality build. As for the 6.4 and the 6.7 they seem very good at the moment, but lets give us 2 or 3 years

  • @mirlin235 No the 6.0 & 6.4 where built by International not Navstar the 6.0 is the same as a International VT365 and the 6.4 same as a Maxxforce 7 when I replaced the injector in my 6.0 the part came from International not Ford or Navstar it was cheaper doing so

and No International did not make the C6, E4OD or the 4R100 transmissions all used by the 7.3L

  • @wdmforrent1 Thats strange cause my buddy whos a mechanic told me that International made the transmission on it

All I know is that diesels are very costly, and I might have to wait on buying one

  • @mirlin235 Don't buy one if you don't have a uses for it money wasted i only got mine for hauling 15,000lbs loads in the mountains

  • @wdmforrent1 My buddy wants me to buy the 7.3L because he says it will save me money for gas

However I'm wanting to buy a 1978 F150 with a 351M in it cause its a nice pick up

I really honestly don't know what to buy, I don't think I'll even have enough money for a diesel

  • @wdmforrent1 The vt family and Maxxforce family are Navistar. Navistar is international, Navistar even makes the chassis for the F650 but not the engine 650 has a cummins 6.7.

  • @Zolatoner yes Navistar International or Navistar is a combantion of all the brands but International still puts there logo on there product that they design but all Navistar really is is a holding company

the 650 also comes with a C7 my old mans got one we flashed the computer changed the injectors and turbo to the first responder package 550Hp

  • @wdmforrent1 They used to come with a c7 but not anymore check out fords medium duty site.

  • @Zolatoner wrong the f 650 can have a cat or cummings as well as others we have one at work wth a international in it and one of my old jods had one with a cat and a allson trans

  • @TheKillzone69 Like I said in the past you could get a Cat, but now you can only get the cummins ISB. Check it out.

  • @Zolatoner i never seen you say that they came with a cat im sorry . yes they no longer come with a cat c7 because cat quit make on road pawertrain and ford dont offer the 6.0 in it now not that i would want one the 6.0 in are 05 f-650 has no balls

  • @TheKillzone69 Cat is actually still making on road engines they had to pay a huge fine for not meeting emissions. But now I heard they have met the emissions standard you can get a brand new pete with a cat we have two 2010 pete's at work and they have cats.

  • @Zolatoner i heard there stoping production by like 2015

  • @TheKillzone69 I hope they don't I prefer the cat over cummins.

  • @Zolatoner me to there is no compairison

  • @Zolatoner Also CAT is now marketing their own trucks for vocational use. They are using a rebadged International Prostar as well as an 8600. All engines are 2010 EPA certified and include the CT11, CT13 and in the future CT15. Don't know about emissions systems though, ACCERT was a bit of a flop and caused allot of problems and reliability took a dive.

Also of note is the future International 15 liter is a CAT C15 with heavy modifications so it figures the two are working together.

  • @TheKillzone69 w ww.commtruck.ford.com/vehicles/medium_duty/powertrain.html

  • @TheKillzone69 And yes they still come with the Allison. Allison's are in a lot of trucks. All of our sterlings at work either have a 5.9 or 8.3 cummins with an Alli a couple have a c7 with an alli.

  • @mirlin235 No they are ford transmissions they are not international who ever told you that does not know what they are talking about.

  • @mirlin235 The 7.3 trannys suck. Only one out of the four of my friends who own a 7.3 have not had to replace the tranny. And the one guy who didn't replace it as modified it and doesn't do any work with the truck. The guy I bought my duramax from bought a brand new F350 in 2001 to tow equipment, and replaced the tranny 3 times. Luckily for him it was all under warranty. He bought what is now my truck and never had a problem.

  • @02duramaxlb7 kid just stop..ford stucks ass!

    its all about the cummins!

  • @bubbleboyE40 WHY DO PEOPLE WITH CUMMINS ENGINES ACT SO EGOTISTICAL ABOUT IT?

  • @bubbleboyE40 you didn't speel sucks right

  • @dt3140 true....lol that was a fail!

  • @mirlin235 well your opinion is wrong all my buddies have huge boners for ford and dodge just like you and they all make fun of my chevy cuz it doesnt have a magnum or 302(big joke). except im the only one who hasnt had to put any money into there vehicle. just start it up and go plus i have more power than they will ever dream of having. a few of my friends also have cummins and powerjoke and they all tell me to get a duramax because there the better engines. they just dont have the money.

  • @TomCat9164 Well good for your buddys, they either don't know what the fuck they are doing with a powerstroke, or a cummins, or they just like to waste money on them, because I can tell you right now, all the guys I know have spent money on there trucks, either because they want too, or just cause they can. And don't bring up the 6.0 into all of this, I know quite a few guys who have them on powerstrokenation and they love them, all you have too do is get it in the right year

  • man that thing sounds sexy

  • Ok that sounds nice but besides the sound I think you might wanna get a bigger exhaust tip, just my opinion but it still sounds great

  • duramax engines are made in japan. jap crap

  • @crazykincardineite they might be made in japan but Isuzu makes more diesel engines than cummins and powerstroke. and they have been makeing them since 1934 so im pretty sure they know what there doing.

  • @crazykincardineite

... and by Japan you really mean Moraine, Ohio

    ... right :)

  • @z123670 i was unaware that the duramax engines that GM uses were produced in the US. The only isuzu engines I have ever dealt with were bought and shipped from japan. and I hated both of them

  • @z123670 lol

  • @crazykincardineite No actually Duramax diesels are built by a GM and Isuzu joint-venture in Ohio they cal it DMAX ltd. just like Dodge uses Cummins engines and Ford uses International ( until this year Ford is now ford lol), and i dont think the winner for 1st place almost every year scince 2001 for The Diesel Power Challange was a Cummins or a powerstroke it was a DURAMAX!

  • @chevelleguns92 thankyou for re-stating when i corrected myself (insert evil glare here). Personally, i don't like powerstrokes, the bad exhaust valves create a kinda cool problem tho. Flames are fun lol. I'll stick to my cummins tho, no cummins has ever let me down.

  • @crazykincardineite ya just cause the made in japan doesnt me crap a dmax block can handle a lot more power then a sill powercrap

  • if powerstrokes were so much better why do they have to get a new freakin motor ever 2yrs......they had the 7..3 for a while then the got the 6.0 then the 6.4 and now the 6.7.....while chevys had the duramax for years now.....all that means is they can keep perfecting the duramax while ford goes back to the drawing boards and comes up with shit motor after shit motor

  • Damn, that thing is a Polluter. . . . I like it.

  • powerstroke is better

  • @nazarethfan89 fuck powerstroke bitch boy

  • @dlutz88 hey its true i'm a gm guy love the muscle cars they have made but GM isnt GM anymore to much has changed over the years and the duramax isnt even made by GM they bought it and called it theres. and the powerstroke is alot better then the duramax in everyday the only thing better then a powerstroke is a cummins

  • @dlutz88 you mean powerjoke?...

  • @metalsound7 haha hellyeah

  • I Love how you spool with no smoke haha its great!

  • MMMM Black Smoke

  • hey dude how much was ur efi live? and is ur tranny stock?

  • Thats tight.

  • pull the silencer ring out of the turbo and really listen to it whine

  • @27riccioconroe that is the turbo

  • @27riccioconroe ...to continue....engine's with VGT's have a more distinct whistle to them. In this video the whistle is kind of hard to hear, even for someone with good hearing. If you look though there are a lot of videos with VERY apparent whistles to them. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the Navistar (Ford Powerstroke) engines, I will say that the 6.0L engines from them have probably the most prominent whistle of any, check out one of those videos to hear a very clear turbo whistle.

  • @goattke True, The VGT (or garretts original name VNT) has vanes that shut in the exhaust housing and increase the spool speed which is crucial on big turbos to reduce lag. But once the vanes are open, a straight turbo and a VGT are almost the same but the straight has the advantage of no restriction in the housing. Case in point, the 1990 Dodge Daytona VNT. Same motor- 1/4mi times were the same vs straight Garrett. BUT the 20-80MPH times were cut by OVER A FULL SECOND. Just shedding some light

  • @buckracer Very good point buckracer. I do remember seeing the comparisons on that engine of straight vs VGT. And you are right, on a higher revving gas engine, the straight turbo DOES have the advantage, but on a lower revving diesel engine, the VGT has the advantage since it spools quicker to boost the torque as quickly as possible, in street driving/towing anyway. Racing applications though a VGT will never touch a straight turbo, diesel or gas.

  • @27riccioconroe Since it seems like there's very few people giving you a straight answer I'll give it a shot. The folks that are saying it's the air getting sucked in are right, but you won't hear as much whistle on an engine with a "straight" turbo such as a 5.9 Cummins. Your later trucks with variable geometry turbos, or VGT's, have adjustable vanes to allow air flow to change. These turbos spool faster and ultimately provide more power than a "straight" turbo. The also have a more distinct...

  • not so eco friendly

  • @kryptikkk777 more eco friendly than a hybrid

  • @kryptikkk777 shut the hell up you freaking idiot and go hug a tree.

  • @austinatkinson1 shut up faggot...you will remember me when there wont be enough oxygen to breathe you fucking dushback

  • Hell yeah!!! Nothin beats a d-max...nothing!! Gotta love that whistle

  • that came straight out of a country song you homo haha

  • ignorant people like joedirtcr250 need to be watching cummins videos, im not sayin cummins is bad its an awesome motor so is duramax, if dodge didnt put there motor in such an ugly wrapper and actually use quality parts(drivetrain) especially their shity transmissions maybe i would consider a dodge haha, once you chip a cummins and a duramax their both comparable

  • peice of shit should have got a cummins

  • Wow real mature man comments like this are stupid. If you don't like it don't watch the video.

  • thats sick!

  • get a diamond eye down pipe and you will hear that whistle alot louder

  • Man that sounds mean!

  • i got an 05 also, gettin efi live tunes n it next week!

  • fuk bro <<< bad fukin ass id suk u

  • @alittlecountry09 haha its all good man no big deal to me!!

  • @alittlecountry09 do u know what his comment was to me? to set it all off? i made a comment to someone who said something about the ford 6.0 being cool. he said its a 6.6 dumb fuck... no where in my comment i said anything about it being a 6.6, i own duramax diesels..

  • @alittlecountry09 and i hope u realize this was pointless too. you probably dont even know that comment i made to begin w/???

  • @alittlecountry09 ok? cus im pretty sure u were the one calling me unsucesful. umm.... ya

ill be an ignorant prick all i want, cus i know i busted my ass day in day out for what i have.

  • hahah is it just me or is that guy nuts????

  • it is not JUST you

  • @bygoran thats cool

  • @alittlecountry09 i know being owned by a 22 yr old sucks, its all good, i know u wanted to get your 2 cents in. even tho it didnt mean shit. pluss... i never made a "claim" so thats alright.

  • @chevy1973. I dont have any cats on my duramax it is a straight pipe from my downpipe back.

  • @alittlecountry09 who are u talking to? Me.. thats interesting, i turned 22 dec 1 and my firm i started when i was 18 brought in 150,000 last year. whatd u do?

  • EARGASM!

  • its a 6.6 retard

  • if you're refering to curbApp1 he was talking to the guy that was talking about the ford.... and @lt250r the 6.0's just sound like junk, no one likes a broken truck...

  • @soccerjay913 good lookin nephew, some ppl dont read down

  • that was just pure sex

  • Sounds like my old 05 LLY! Liked the truck other than it got the worst fuel millage out of any diesel ive ever had. Bought it new drove it to 190k and that fucker never got better than 15 mpg but ran like a striped assed ape! lol

  • sounds good love the sound of the turbo and all that smoke is awesome!!!!

  • i want to take my cat off my 07 d max but some one told me that the check egine light would come on and that it was a heat exchange let me know if you know

  • if its a LBZ then probly not, unless its a Cali truck then it might throw a code

  • @kkurt212 its a 07 classic last year of the old body style not in cali

  • i dont think you will have a problem then.

  • Yea i am not sure if my LLY is the same as the LBZ but i took the cat and muffler off mine and didnt throw a code

  • @cbhsboy29 you only took off one cat right? i took off one cat and my muffler and it didnt trow codes and it passed emmissions too lol

  • sounds sick for a durimax for sure still doesnt sound like a 6.0 whistle though..

  • @lt250r who cares about the 6.0 whistle, its garbage

  • @curbApp1 You dumb fuck! It's a 6.6!

  • @chevydmax04 ya cus i was talking about the duramax? i know what a 6.6 sounds like, i own 3 of em. bitchh

  • hahaha yeah right its not that simple at all trust me i do it the alittle more difficult way my self with more software than tube 2 tones

  • nice sounding exhaust! Do you know how i can get that same sound out of my 2002 LB7?

  • Eliminate you catiladic converter if you don't have emitions were you live?

  • holy fuck thats the perfect sound

  • nice bud love efi live

  • ahhhh the sound of power right there :)

  • then get a fucken hearing aid dumbass

  • i like all turbos! all diesels! SWEET SWEET SOUND

  • i agree fucking pricks don't have to be such ass holes because you ask a simple question, and for the record the reason it whistle's is because of the turbos fan blade when the air is getting sucked in. its really quite a beautiful sound, i have never owned a diesel but hope to be getting a 2500 hd at some point in the near future.

  • Are you running EFI live

  • did you read the discription?

  • hey what yr is that and what exhaust are you running?

  • nice sounding D max
