Every time I watch your video I can't help but cry...with emotion. My daugther was born 32w with severe IUGR and SGa 860gr and I sooo understand all your comments and I can see her, me and her father in so many of your pics. She will be soon 12 months and is still so tiny but we are extremely proud of her. I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart! :)
@zombogurt It breaks my heart every time I hear of another family having to go through the highs and lows of NICU and beyond, I'm so sorry you and your family had to take that journey but glad to hear your she made it through. Sincerely hope she is doing well, all the best for you all too
I gave birth 4 months ago to our little boy who was born at 29 weeks and weighed 970 grams. Your video brought back so many memories and i cried my eyes out. He is doing well and even though he is very small for 4 months (3.8kg) he is doing great and they truly are our little fighters.
I'm very glad I came across your video. My husband and I have just been told our baby has sever IUGR at only 23 weeks pregnant. It is going to be a rough road but your video is giving me hope when there is not much to hold on to!
Your son's story echoes mine in so many ways! My daughter was born at 28 weeks, weighing 1 pound, 13 ounces due to severe preeclampsia. She was in neonatal ICU for 3 months. She had many tummy issues, kept on getting distended and they had to stop the milk feedings and stick with IV nutrition, but as soon as she got over it we got another bomb dropped on us - retinopathy, but went home when that was corrected! We preemie parents are in a class all our own. So glad your little one is thriving!
he's so adorable im glad he's here and he looks very happy to be with his family. i wish you the best of luck throught the rest of his life and god bless you all!
that was incredibly inspiring... made me really excited that picked the right career as a respiratory therapist so i can help babies just like that see their 1st birthday etc etc.
God bless you. I am so touched by your story. I can't imagine the strength it must of took to wait, day by day, minute by minute. To gain little bits of hope, and then to have it snatched away by another ailment, another complication. Your son is solid proof that miracles happen. He is definitely a fighter! Tristan fought for his place on earth, and I know in my heart that he is going to grow up to do something wonderful. He already seems pretty spectacular to me! Best wishes! <3 Jessica

That is SO sweet... At first I was thinking why dont they just kill it and try again for a healthy one, but the little bugger grew on me, or maybe it was Enrique...I dunno, God bless.
I did think in his first weeks that if the powers of be were going to take him to DO IT NOW before we get more attached but we have lost 2 babies to a recently diagnosed rare condition and may never have the chance to be parents again let alone to a healthy one. Despite the rollercoaster journey and challenges we face we feel lucky to have him. I have been told that I should be grateful for him....I think everyone with healthy kids should be the grateful ones.
@tekubus seriously? that makes me want to cry. i had 27 wk twins. the dr at different times told me to give up on my daughter bc she was going to be retarded. i understand that you don't like the idea now, but seriously. my daughter is 2and a half and smarter than most 4 yr olds
it's wonderful to see such a brave family get through such trauma. its amazing to see him getting better and better, even after the setback he looks healthier! such a handsome little boy. so cute at 7:20 :D:D congrats
Thankyou for watching! Yes there is another video in progress, it will be a while away but I hope everyone will agree that it will be worth the wait!!!
Thankyou, he has significant overall Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and have to remind ourselves that he is here but he is still a stubborn cheeky lil monkey that brings us many challenges and proud moments!
This just brings back so many memories. My son was born at 28 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. He weighed 1lb 13oz. He fought so hard for 6 days when he got an infection and could fight no more. I cuddled him for a few mins before he passed away in my arms. I went through this all on my own - I was 19 yrs old. Hard times. That was 8 years ago now and last year i gave birth to a healthy baby boy. I will never forget the pain of losing my son but i think about him every day & he wont be forgotten !!!!
Sorry about the very delayed reply and sooo sorry to hear of yr loss, especially all by yourself at such a young age. *hugs* Congrats on the birth of yr lil boy. All the best xx
I also had pre-eclampsia and my daughter was born two weeks shy of full term weighing 2lb 14oz. I feel for both your pain and your joy.Thank you for posting Tristan's journey. Although it's been 21 years seeing this seems like it was yesterday and reminds me what a miracle life really is. God bless all of you!
I was born in the same conditions and back in 76 i was said to be a case of miracle not even medicine (as the doctors had no idea why in so point where i suppose to die i start to became stronger from nowhere) i was extremely tiny but when i reached my 10´s birthday i start to develop very fast and i never had any physical or psychological problem after that! This could be my little boy's story also. He was born at 24 weeks for no apparent reason, but all the things are so familiar. Couldn't stop the tears from rolling.
Makes me soooooo thankful for my healthy little boy!!! God bless yall!!! I don't think I could have made it through that!!! I'm hoping he is doing well!!!
Just cried my way through your video - your son is an absolute angel and you must be sooo proud, he's such a gorgeous cutie too and has the cheekiest little face! God bless to you all xxxx
What a heart-warming story!! What a beautiful boy!! I almost delivered my daughter at 24 weeks after getting hit by a drunk driver. I just sobbed watching your journey!!
I truly believe in miracles!! Hug that gorgeous angel for me!!
my little boy turns six months next week ( c.a age 3 months) watching this makes you love each minute of being a mommy. Its a hard road being in the NICU but you enjoy every minute of it ...
U r so brave.. my lil boy is iugr too, he is 6 months 4.5 months C/A.. this video gives me hope that he is going to catch up some day... thanks for postin this.. god bless our lil miracles..
this actually bought a tear to my eye, he has already been through so much in his short life, and you both are amazing parents, dont you ever let anyone tell you otherwise, because im 15 and i can see how much you truly love him and how special he is to you. :) I wish you look in the future :)
As a mother of five healthy children.....and as a human being......your video gave me chill bumps. Hold that angel tight in your arms as long as you live! I am so thankful my 4 lb. preemie was completely healthy and went home in just three days.
That was so touching. Like you I had a premie. born @ only 28 wks. 2lbs.11 oz.11 in. long. He spent the 1st 2& 1/2 mos. of his little life in the hospital, w/only a 5% chance of survival. & yes the doll clothes were too big! Just you wait for those teen yrs. Now he is 20 yrs. I see now how big and strong he is he fought so hard to live and he made it. The funny part is, is that to look @ him you can't even tell he was a premie!

I had preeclampsia as well, but they didn't catch it til I was 34 weeks pregnant. He was born 4lbs 6oz. He's still tiny but catching up fast :) He's 2 1/2 months and he's already about 11lbs :) Congrats on raising such a gorgeous boy, I'm sorry you had to go through this, but always remember God doesn't hand us things that he doesn't think we can make it through, he has a plan for Tristan :) Was Skye yours as well? I'm very sorry if so. Good luck with your handsome little man!
I was looking up nursing diagnosis for IUGR, and came across your YT video. Tears were rolling down my face instantly. your little one is sooo adorable, and such a fighter. I can only imagine what you and your husband must have gone through, just not knowing what will come of this. And I'm so happy that Tristan made it through. I love the part where he was smiling in the nursing unit. That was so sweet and I just wanted to hold him. Well, thank goodness this obstacle is over now.
Talk about doting parents. Such detail and documentation! Think I got confused at 6:19 where it shows baby as 8kg (since later it says 7.3kg on first birthday!)
I hereby nominate these people as one of Australia's best parents! :)
OMG........my mistake, that was meant to be 3kg! lol Thankyou for your nomination!!!!!.......but there are soo other parents out there like us...bless em!
I have tears running down my face watching this. I gave birth to my son at King Eddies in April. He was 24+6 and weighed 720grams. Seeing pics of Tristan in nursery three made it all flood back. I distinctly remember reading your poster of hope about Tristan. It was one of the few things that gave me hope. I remember countless sleep deprived nights just reading the board over and over to give me the strength to go back to aggi walsh and do it again the next day. Thankyou. xxx
My lil baby was born 3/27/08 at 29 wks and 4 days, he was 3lbs 11oz.. he was in the hospital 4 2 months.. he is now a growing boy, but still a little behind.. God Bless you
Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming story. He is such a beautiful child! This video made me cry! My daughter was also a preemie, weighing only 2 pounds 3 1/2 oz.. I had her early for the same reasons. She is now 2 and 1/2 and the joy of my life. These kids are truly stronger than people give them credit for. You would never know by looking at them what they endured. Your son is an adorable little boy!
Such an amazing little boy .. such amazing parents .. so happy this has had a happy ending . You film was so emotional i can barely see my keyboard to type this . May you all live a very long happy and healthy life together .. God bless !!!!!
You have a BEAUTIFUL son....what a fighter. I can't imagine what you and your husband had to go through. I'm so happy this had a happy ending to it. God bless you.
My daughter is in the NICU now, she was born at 30weeks bc I also had preeclampsia, it was very severe also, thank goodness my dr app. was that day, or me or my little girl would not be here. She is almost 2months old and will stay in the NICU for atleast 2-3more months, I know God is with her and is protecting her.
I have a friend who was a preemie - but I call her my miracle friend because they didn't think she would make it through the night and she did and I am glad she is my friend and in my life.
wow/!! im soo happy that u ur baby made it!! i also had a baby she was a girl but i lost her at 26 weeks due to the same thing she didnt make it she was at 12 ounces and 10 inches long.. congrats andmay god bless your family
Its so amazing to see your family's story! And to see such huge differences in his appearance in the earlier photos...like his color changing and his weight filling in his stiny cheeks. Your story is very inspiring and I know it brings other families facing their own journeys hope. Beautiful! =]
i have to say that watching this and then seeing the such cute and funny photos of him as he got older the faces that he makes are just priceless.i give you and your husband a lot of credit for your courage.i can't even imagine going through something like that. my son was a month early and he was 6lbs.1oz when he was born and i was afraid for him then.but you had a lot more to be afraid of.i wish you, your husband and beautiful son all the best. i think that there was an angel watching over you.
Thank you so much for this. My grandaughter suffered from IUGR but was not as tiny as your son. Have they suggested growth hormone if he does not show catch up growth by age 2?
No growth hormone has been suggested, in the Doc's words he'll be the "runt" through school and catch up more in his teens. Preemies usually catch up by age 2-3 though in cases like Tristans they cant explain why but they've experienced much later growth catch up....despite us both being tall! Saying that, at his 2 yr C/A assessment they were surprised about his height, though not about his weight.........
Wow your son is so precious! He really is a fighter! With an amazing mommy and daddy!! My nephew was born due to pre-eclampsia. My sister was 35 weeks but Evan only measured at a 30 week old fetus. He stayed in the NICU for 3 weeks and then got to come home! Your little man is truly a fighter and a miracle :)
Thank you for making this video...I watched it and got a lot of joy from it. You both are obviously very strong and it's a given that your boy will be too. Again thank you
I am in tears because I so can relate to your little boy's story. My husband and I opted to deliver our twin girls at 27 weeks because of severe IUGR of one girl. She too weighed 1 lb. 4 ozs and had a lengthy NICU stay (89 days). She and her sister are now healthy, thriving 20-month olds. Our IUGR baby is significantly smaller and took longer to reach certain milestones (sitting up, crawling, and walking) but is such a feisty little girl. These little miracles never cease to amaze me.
Beautiful outcome! Tristan also took a lot longer to reach his milestones....and still does! We are learning to accept that is just the way it's going to be but it makes those moments SOOO much more rewarding. Bless them all :)
Your story gives me hope. I am currently 25 weeks pregnant with twin girls. One of my babies sacs ruptured at 21 weeks. My other baby has IUGR. We pray to make it to at least 28 weeks. Thanks for the inspiration.
Many prayers here - my twin girls were born at 27 weeks because of IUGR in one girl. They are healthy, thriving toddlers now who love life! I believe that God answers prayers.
He's a darling little miracle! My nephew was born due to the same complications. He is now 8 months old and weighs only 7 1/2 lbs. He spent 116 days in the NICU and we are truly greatful he is home. I look forward to seeing him sit and walk. Thank you for sharing.
you give me so much hope with my pregnancy im so happy to see a survivor he is so adorable. i will now worry less then i have been since i know theres hope.
That was a beautiful video! What a long and arduous journey you had, but thanks to love, hope, faith and hard work you were successful. I am inspired by your perserverence. MUch love to you all.
Thanks for such a beautiful story! I'm so glad your precious son made it!! Your story brought tears to my eyes. I can't even imagine how strong you must be from all of this. You are all heroes!
Wow your video brought me to tears. I am 6 weeks pregnant and my co-worker was just diagnosed with preeclamsia like 2 hours ago. She is so scared. I found your video, sitting here at work and I cried. So so sweet! Thank-you for posting and inspiring others! Your son is very cute :o) I pray he continues to grow big and strong. Please give a big hug to Tristan from me!!
Our video is what we've been going through also. our stories are verry similiar. The doctors ran test for gentetic issues about 16 weeks in, my wife had blood pressure issues during, but none that caused real concern, until an ultra sound checking growth at 26 weeks, that said our daughter wasn't growing and may have to come out that same day, instead bed rest for another week and a half, and then she came into this world!
thank you for the beautiful video I am 28 weeks pregnant and my baby is now 453kg d/t IUGR he also has tetalogy of fallot a heart condition I have weekly ultrasounds and they always seem to make me scared of what will go wrong next ex. echogenic kidneys bowel watching your video fills my heart with so much Hope and my eyes with tears of happiness for you and your family May GOD Bless You Always
Beautiful baby boy, beautiful video! My twin daughters were born in january 2007 due to pre-eclampsia also. They weighed a bit under 1,5 kilo´s and were 38cm tall. Born 6 weeks premature at 34 weeks. Our other daughter is allready doing just fine, but our other one has been threw so much, nothing serious thank god. You can see my video of our girls on the you tube: preemie girls by: kekione
I can barely see through all the tears. My son was born @ 28wks. weighing 2.4lbs. due to severe preeclampsia and is now a perfect toddler! Its amazing the strength in these little angels have to survive. You have such a beautiful family!!! God bless you all!
Such an inspirational journey. Tristan is looking fantastic and is so handsome. My son was born at 27 weeks but was never that small. Well done to not only Tristan but to mum and dad too!
I've watched this video so many times - what a sweetheart!! He makes me cry every time!! I'm sitting here at work BAWLING!! Our babies are such inspirations!!! They've overcome more than I EVER would have the strength to!!!
How good miracles are! My beautiful one passed away at 27 weeks due to severe PE. I love the giraffe thing; I like to see it is not always the end of the world, some of them make it through!
I'm soo deeply sorry for your loss. It's hard to understand why things that are beyond us happen but believe it was obviously for a reason and it is only now that I appreciate what we have gone through.
Thoughts and blessings for you and your family also :)
What a beautiful video. My daughter was born in June 2007 at 25 weeks due to preeclampsia. (IUGR: 23 weeks) You've captured so much about what it is to be in a NICU. --I have many of the same photos of us. Thank you for sharing this.
triston is one handsom lil man! i have 2 daughters and my first son on the way and your story has touched my heart that no matter what happens great things will prosper from it. he is growing so well and so amazingly gifted in every way
Tristin is such a beautiful boy. He has been through so much in his first year of life then most will in a life time... he shows us just how precious life is and what a gift each and every day is. He is truly a fighter! What wonder parents he has to look after him. God's blessing to all of you :) Thank you for sharing your story and to help spread awareness about this awful disorder preeclampsia.

I was looking up nursing diagnosis for IUGR, and came across your YT video. Tears were rolling down my face instantly. your little one is sooo adorable, and such a fighter. I can only imagine what you and your husband must have gone through, just not knowing what will come of this. And I'm so happy that Tristan made it through. I love the part where he was smiling in the nursing unit. That was so sweet and I just wanted to hold him. Well, thank goodness this obstacle is over now.

Thankyou. xxx

Thank you so much for this. My grandaughter suffered from IUGR but was not as tiny as your son. Have they suggested growth hormone if he does not show catch up growth by age 2?
pbradley936 2 years ago
No growth hormone has been suggested, in the Doc's words he'll be the "runt" through school and catch up more in his teens. Preemies usually catch up by age 2-3 though in cases like Tristans they cant explain why but they've experienced much later growth catch up....despite us both being tall! Saying that, at his 2 yr C/A assessment they were surprised about his height, though not about his weight.........
Guess you can't defy the family genes!!!!!! :)

These little miracles never cease to amaze me.
mommy2miracles 3 years ago
Beautiful outcome! Tristan also took a lot longer to reach his milestones....and still does! We are learning to accept that is just the way it's going to be but it makes those moments SOOO much more rewarding. Bless them all :)
