@nicolibri Some songs, they don't, when they sang Molly Malone, they were up waving their arms and singing along, this song they're like a crowd of statues.
As an Irish (na hÉireannaigh) I am concerned that they, and others reference Chicago... It is the lowest form of socialist filth and is more interested in how many blacks it can get to vote for Obama nowadays.... There is no "Irish" left in Chicago.
@DannyDad208 i hope you realize that the Irish have a long history of being liberal socialists who are at the center of most labor movements in the UK
My great-grandfather left Ireland over a century ago. Like the man in the song, he never returned. I hope to visit one day. How I would love to walk the streets of Dublin and find some good soil for roots.
WOW! ,,,,The Dubliners are AMAZING!!! ....it's a shame that Ed Sullivan did not get his hands on them because if he did they would sell out the House that Ruth built on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and a Doubleheader on Sunday....WOW!...WOW!!
same here!! Which version of "whiskey in the jar do you prefer"? Metallica's or the Dubliner's... I think that they're both great, but the Dubliner's is better as it is played how it was traditionally played. What do you think??
PEOPLE OF IRELAND you will be a minority in your own country in around 40 years. Your culture, your national identity and your proud heritage which our brave forefathers fought and died for will be gone as a result of short sighted liberals seeking 15 minutes of reputation in the EU. I am not a racist i like many people coming over here (the poles are very hardworking) but it is our duty to save our glorious culture before its too late.
That'll teach me to cut and paste the lyrics, without listening to them through again. I posted in response to "Sing so we can hear the lyrics!!" below. I can see he changes the names or roder of names of his pals migrating across America. I must have located either the Copyright version, or another transliteration. I CAN make out the lyrics as sung by Sean Cannon, and "legacy of dreaming" is a better fit.
Man this crowd just sucks, doesn't it?

P.S.: I hope that the Celtic langues will survive forever.

i've never heard metallica's version, sorry. But the dubliner's version is indeed great!

dubliners, metallica is too much about rock, this is a traditional song but there's is still good dont get me wrong

In spite of wind and rain and stormy weather,
We all sat down and drank a glass, and wished each other well,
And we said that we'd be goin' back together.
Now Joe he went to Boston, and Sam to Buffalo,
And Pat went out as far as California;
I used to get some letters then, but that was long ago;
And they always spoke of Ireland and returning.

Sean Canon's Voice and accent are great for this song & Paddy's sick note
I always will remember well the day we went away,
Sailing out of Belfast in the mornin',
Our hopes were on tomorrow as we kissed the girls goodbye,
And our dreams were on the day of our returnin'.
Chorus:
There'll be dancin', romancin', and never more we'll roam,
There'll be rollin' in the hay, there'll be whiskey in the tay
When the boys come rolling home.
We safely reached the other side in New York City fair;
