this is typical for japan. if a fight is good, they often give an extra round because the people want to see action like this. i think it´s poor, that the sport is just treated for commercial... karaev should have won after round 3.
if headbutts kicks on a downed opponent and groin shots were legal then yes karaev won. even with all that he still couldn't finish musashi. and ne way its clean strikes that land that get points not over random strikes to ne where.

godoftakedown is right. I have been watching K-1 for a long time and musashi always has had the support of the judjes. If you don´t believe me, watch Aerts vs Musashi, Sefo vs Musashi, Karaev vs musashi and many other fights. Choi has the same support, he won Mighty Mo by decision in a fight that Mo won clearly. Choi kicked Mo´s balls and reffere told that it was a clean kick...
I agree with the countdown part, it was unfair. But then again Mo signals being hit in the balls way too many times in his fights recently. That seems almost impossible to get hit more then all the other fighters together. So maybe the refs are a little suspicious about him and do not often pay attention to it.
The main reason why Musashi won is because he was the only japanese fighter in the tournament and the promoters want to have a japanese fighter as long as possible in the tournament. Similar can be said about Hong man choi from Korea (Korean TV market is very important for K1, the reason why Mighty Mo was robbed of his victory). If you don´t ko them you simply CAN´T win by decision. Sucks big time in my opinion.
That's true about musashi, but Hong Man won his fight fair and square. How many connecting punches did Mo throw at Choi? How many connecting punches and kicks did Choi throw?
if i remember right Mo was clearly dominating the fight and the biggest piece of bullshit was when he was counted for a knockdown when he was clearly hit in the groin...another shitty decision was between Choi and Kaoklai (fight was in Korea...guess who won)

I guess the judges gave to match to Musashi to engage the Japanese audience, but Karaev is a more dynamic fighter and far more entertaining to watch. It was almost worth Musashi getting through just to see him get whaled on by Feitosa though.
musashi is always supported by the judges, cause those fights take place in his homecountry. he can take a lot but is not a good fighter. to slow, not enough power..........

If musashi landed a good knee strike after that great low kick, he could have won. Those were the kind of situations that Peter Aerts took so smartly and fucking ripped.
Karaev could have dictated that fight if he threw a solid jab it was sloppy with no snap. It was close most of Mushahi's power shots hit all glove they didn't even land Karaev got robbed.

1. That first fall of Musashi was a knock down
2. It didn't need to go to a 4th round
3. Karaev clearly won the last round.
