Anybody else see a resemblence of the Moai Statues' faces & Doh from Arkanoid arcade game? Just thought I'd ask, even though they each seem to be somewhat creepy-looking in their own ways.
Maybe the rocks were in place, washed out from the volcanic site by a tidal wave, like in 1960. They must have cleared the others out. Has anybody try to plant a tree in the island? This people where much smarter than us, just like the Mayas and Incas.
If you think about it ...they travelled hundreds of miles across sea to the most isolated island in the world , and perhaps wondering were there other Polynesian people going to follow them , so they build large human statues clearly visible from the sea to show who ever was to follow that they have made it and there is human life on to the island...
The Giant carvings represented certain chiefs & gods & were a symbol of power to incoming enemies. Easter Island Is the Fatherland of all Polynesian cultures They had the first written language of Polynesia, invented tattooing, raised Livestock & salmon farms. Unfortunately the tribes broke into warfare over land & deteriorating resources, Thus began the great voyage throughout the pacific by The Ancient Moais to settle what we now know as Polynesia.
@Cormac77 well after the great continent fell lemuria they fled and made it to the island!!! they built these statues in honor of all those dat perished in the great catastrophe!!!
