If Black Arrow was relaunched as part of a space programme for the UK, it would be great! The Black Arrow is a small rocket, which is cheaper to make and compared to the Soyuz and Delta launchers, which is capable of taking a heavy sattilites or probes into space at a low cost.

I'm an American. Personally, I love all these nations who are heading for Space. There will need to be a global breakaway mentality, Nations of this modern Earth are quite capable to going into Space. Our electronics are better, we sit on an archive of 50 years of experience. I want to see Humans all over the Solar System. Companies all over the world want to get a piece of the future. Super engines, Spacestation 2x the size of the ISS up in 1 year. 40 days of travel to Mars? What a world!

@SamsSpaghetti unlikely we still give aid to India, Russia, China, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Vietnam who all run space programs yet have mass poverty thats one place where money for this is going down the drain we could easily rival the USA on a tiny budget the Russians conducted 60 space missions in 2010 america only 10 yet america spends 19 billion on their space program the Russians only 4 billion we could be a Russia just more advanced on the same budget if only the government would listen.

@darnocslew the reason why all space programs don't join together is because they are all competing with each other to do things first. For example NASA was competing with the Russian space program to get to the moon first. If there was no competition and NASA was the only one trying to get to the moon then it probably would have happened much later than it actually did. I very much doubt that is the case now though, space programs are co-operating now. The space station is partly made by NASA,

what i dont get is why dont all space programs join in one big space operartion team so we can achive bigger goals like gettng to mars, and with more money income they would be able to have more exciting missions!

All serious stuff aside, I was a toddler at Woomera when the blue streak went up and I can still remember it. Nobody mentions the Jindavik (although there were still flying in the UK not too long ago).

@rag5206 I remember my Dad saying that new recruits doing their (British) national service were asked if they cared to take part in a program to "test a cure for the common cold" which he wisely declined. We Brits, especially the English, have a tremendous ability to piss people off.

As with many projects that are born in the Uk, there's always some spending review on the horizon and the good exciting stuff usually gets cancelled. @rag5206 Aaah. Now we're moving off the point. lol. From what I understand, it would have taken a while to build and preapre another Black Arrow for launch. Some people have mentioned 1974 before another launch. Not exactly a swift operation but with governments dragging their heels I don't see how Black Arrow could have supplied the marketplace with what they want. A great shame but Black Arrow was the end of the line. Europa was a complete mess as the Coralie 2nd stage was unreliable.

@rag5206 Eh? We built the Typhoon which only the F-22 can match, why worry about the Gripen, BAe builds the wings anyway. We're building carriers because they are essential to our defense, all of the rest of the worlds military are or wish they were building carriers what does that tell you? The F-35 programme will give us major technology benefits. If the UK government had faith in the 70's we could have paid for all of this from the discarded space programme.
