I love your car its really nice... I have a small question to ask... I have the ususally problems with my 04' maxima and I was just wondering if once you installed the Nismo transmission did all that stop as well. Have you had any problems with regards to kicking or reving or shifting issues now...
@BeautyIAOM After rebuilding my OEM transmission and valve body I didn't have any further issues. It should be noted that my problems were a result of putting down over 300+ lbs of TQ after I went boost! 3 years after the rebuild I lost 3rd gear again and this time I'm taking the Tranny for a rebuild at Level 10 and have it rebuilt to withstand 700hp
@Visavic1771 No because your recycling the exhaust to spin the Turbo which pushes air into it faster. I saw no real lose at all going Turbo! When I race it's a little different but with an auto boost controler I have a one button selection for low or high boost. Low is for normal street driving so no lost MPG.
@maximaowner not when I first did the Turbo, later on I did bend 3 rods and did a total engine rebuild with racing parts. Google "chernmax" and check out my Cardomain website for details...
@maximaowner the Angel eyes I've seen for our rides don't look great IMO and are too thin. Max members have broken them easily during install. I had my headlights custom done (paint, halo, installation) in Richmond VA by customlightz(dot)com. Check out their web site, you can ship them your lights and they will mod and send back!
@nandiito The big piping to the right of the Turbo Air Intake Filter is the cooler air coming from the below silver intercooler going into the Kinetex intake manifold.
you sound like mr miogi. "hit it young grasshopper" hahaha. i love the maxis man my 97 is still kicking in 13's with 173k! you cant go wrong wit nissan
@Weedednote94 Not to my knowledge. Also no one is really sure if a CVT transmission can hold it or be rebult to hold the added tranny pressure. You can hit up the website SpeedForceRacing(dot)com and Tim's number is listed. They make the Turbo kits for the Maxima's. Good Luck
did'nt say every car on the road I said 350z's. Because they think they are fast and they are slow IMO. I said that more so becuase of the sleeper aspect
I've heard CVT transmissions can only hold about an extra 50 hp before they start having major problems. But thats what i've heard throughout forums and such. Not proven to be true. I have an 04 maxima. Where can i get one of these bad boys?
Yes she has been Dyno Tuned and was putting down 345whp or roughly 412 crank HP. Also my car is a 2004 SE and it does not have a CVT but a 5AT with manual matic. The CVT did not get put on the Maxima until model year 2007 and up
Cost was around $1200, but I'm friends with the owner and he gets tons of work thrown his way by me and I'm not sure what the labor rates are in your area. It also took about a week. I would contact Speed Force Racing and ask them how much they charge for a more realistic idea to budget for.
thanks chern great job once again cant wait for your new videos cant wait to work more on my altima 3.5 , people are telling me i shouldnt hook it up im going to prove them wrong :)
People said their were no Headers, I successfully installed Hotshots from a 2005 Altima SE-R with no modification but a couple busted knuckles. Then they said their wasn't enough room for a Turbo sooooooooo... Anyway I love the looks on peoples faces when they say CANT!!! And I prove them WRONG!!! Most of all I enjoy it as a part time hobby after work or on weekends in my garage.
I hear that man, great job on the car! I'm showing this video at the shop on Monday! Maybe it will motivate some of the slack asses to spend some money and get something.
This kit was made for the 6th Gen by SpeedForceRacing(dot)com not the new 7th Gen Maxima. As a matter of fact, no one to my knowledge has put a turbo in a Maxima above year 2007. I suspect no one knows how the CVT transmission will handle the increased torque!!!
New Cattman Headers for 04-08 Maxima and 05/06Altima The development phase of our header project for the 2004-08 Maxima and 2005/06 V6 Altima recently ended after a two-month road test on Mark's (aka Deus ex Maxima) 2005 Maxima 6MT.
DynoJet tests showed the Cattman headers and y-pipe picked up 25+ whp and ft/lbs torque. We were pleased.
We're taking pre-orders now (no $) for an initial production run of 20 sets expected in late November/early December. Demand will outpace supply, so move now to get a set before the next batch in early February.

dam ur car is so sick i know what u mean about performance parts 4 these cars i have an 05 maxima /w nismo intake but finding anbything after that is an arm and a leg or does not exist i just saw the turbo dam that shit takes some cheese for that like $5500. have u heard anything about a supercharger? also that grill u have "LUCKY" i want one to.
good choice in car i love the look when i fly by mustangs no gts but still. their sleepers no one expects that 4 door car to blow their two right off.
well, listening to the idle it sounds like the exhaust valve might be open longer. a more aggressive camshaft (than OEM). or it could be video quality. or i might be stupid
No I didn't change the cam. Speed force racing said the internals are good up to about 450hp, I'm running about 345whp or about 410hp at the crank right now.
Yeah maybe but I also use a GReddy automatic boost controller and I have 1 button that quickly changes from low and high boost. For the Street I roll in low boost (4psi), about 300+whp, if I hit the track, high boost (7psi and I can dial up to 8psi for some more) 345whp+. Anyway, my point is I'm not putting that much of a strain on my car that would require me to mess with engine internals at this time. Having a mid 13 sec car is cool but she will never be a race car, I can live with that!
You have to have one if your boosted and automatic boost controllers are the best for one button operation between Hi and Low boost. I also have a Split Second Timing computer in the glove box and an AEM Wide band monitor in one of my cup holders. We cool, I don't take it as judging, some great recommendations actually!!!
@chernmax unless u want it to be one. I saw that they have upgraded cams and alum forged pistons for 6th gens. Id imagine one can get upgraded springs/rings and other internals. A bullet proof motot that could withstand a twin turbo set up.
That would be sick.
But Im think of thrown a set up like your on my 06.
@tastings4life Thanks for the feedback, I already had a complete motor rebuild, I have 1000hp Arias racing low compression pistons (8.6 to 1), Brian Crower Pro Series Connecting Rods , cometic head gaskets, APR head bolts, 440cc fuel injectors, Arias racing rings, Cosworth High Performance Rod Bearings, all new gaskets, seals, springs, polished piston hosing etc.etc.
Thanks for the feedback, I'd been waiting 4 years for a Turbo kit with possibilities, thanks to Speed Force Racing found it. The wait is over and it's good to do a first at something. Have a great day and drive safe... :-)
Currently have her Dynoed at about 412hp, waiting another tuning session to increase to 8psi of boost and closer to 450hp. On the spank list Mustang GT, HEMI Charger, WRX STI (not off the line but I caught him and beat him), SRT-4, Acura TL-R, Cadillac CTS-V, BMW 335i. Car runs solid mid to low 13's and with slicks and configured for the track, she can hit 12's!!! Not bad for a 4 door grocery getter and she's my daily driver!!!
Maybe but that's because I'm boosted. But hey I'm a realist, there are way better cars out there that should be purchased for modding and racing, I just wanted to do something different. The Mod market is limited for Maxima's thus more expensive, for every 1000 aftermarket and performance part you can buy for let's say a Honda Civic, you may find 10-15 for a 6th gen Max. It's just a fun car to drive and I like the surprise look I get when people don't expect such performance from a V6!!!
bro if ur taking 335i's then ur smokingggg g37's 335i's do 0-60 in mid 4 seconds the g37 does it in mid 5 seconds so yea ur taking then forsure. have u clocked ur 0-60 yet? and have u tried racing an srt8? and sorry bout all the questions but by how much do you beat a stock 04 maxi lol? my stock maxi is right next to g35's an i take srt-4's
Actually the 2008 BMW 335i are putting down about 5.1 sec in 0-60 and the new M3's running about 4.8. On the street or track there are so many variables that you can never guarantee these cars as well as mine own will perform consistently at the same numbers. Was pacing an SRT8 several weeks back and he really weren't trying to race me but any move he made I was on him so he gave me a thumbs up for not being able to shake me and pulling on him several times. Being able to drive is a plus!!!
So how much modifying did you have to do to get a turbo on it? They do make a turbo kit for the '03 maximas, so im just wondering, are the 2 cars that much different?
Yes the 2004-2008 Nissan Maxima share the same subframe with the 2002 Nissan Altima. Not any 5th Gen...
I had some more unique requirements since I modified my Hotshot headers, trunk mounted my battery, relocated my fuse box, and had to have the piping custom fabricated since no one did it before and their was no prefabbed set of piping to install...
Thanks for the feedback and props bro, and this kit when properly tuned will put down close to 400whp and 450hp at the crank which is what car manufactures advertise...
Awesome job! Idle seem a little rough though, almost like there was a miss, but not quite. I'm sure you've iron'ed it all out though. Glad to see someone giving 6th gen's some boosted love. :)
how do i get in touch with this guy? i would love to know how he did this....i was gonna settle on an electric supercharger, but to hell with that lol....now i see it IS possible afterall....hell of an inspiration man
I love your car its really nice... I have a small question to ask... I have the ususally problems with my 04' maxima and I was just wondering if once you installed the Nismo transmission did all that stop as well. Have you had any problems with regards to kicking or reving or shifting issues now...

where or what parts did you use? were there any special made parts?
mexieddie 3 years ago
Google Speed Force Racing, they made the kit for a 2002 Nissan Altima. Check out their contact page and call Tim "Turbo Tim"
No special parts, but fabrication of piping (bends, etc.)is required...

Wow, nice work. You are an inspiration to all of us Maxima owners. Have you dyno'd it lately, you've got to be pushing 400hp.

Thanks for the feedback and props bro, and this kit when properly tuned will put down close to 400whp and 450hp at the crank which is what car manufactures advertise...
