McCreary had one advangate on Richard (Gibbs) he could see where the show was going before he had to write something. I agree with people who say that the music infuences the show, and I think Bear did use Gibbs music as a starting point. On the ot her hand, I asked Gibbs, and he says he DOESN'T play the accordian.
I have 96 Galactica songs in my playlist, and before Richard Gibbs got pissy I didn't know he existed, fine, I'll take out the opening season song, so now I got 95 Galactica songs in my playlist. Bitch.
So the moral of the show is: Never share critical secrets with your girlfriend, she might turn out to be a toaster. And this oddly has a strange truth to it which you will know if you have ever been left by a lover... Amazing show, amazing music.
@chrisbiro1 Or the moral of the show is that, you might find out that you love your girlfriend despite her being a traitor! Also, that hybrids kick non-hybrids' asses (or so I assume, that's how Boomer and Helo's kid ...spoilerspoiler)?
I love all of the BSG music, but this piece is especially moving. It seems to embody the idea that "this is not all that we are." If we strive and believe, then someday, somewhere, in some way we all have the potential to "touch the stars." I could swear that I heard the essence of this song many times before in a recurring dream long before BSG aired...a dream of a room atop a castle, of white birds, flying, and freedom.
@Cyl0nCaprica I was trying to think of a way to convey what this song makes me think of, and seeing the word castle in your summary did it for me. I see a bunch of people standing atop a crumbling castle, heaving and shaking and spitting out dust and rock as it slowly, ever so slowly groans that it will soon fall completely. And all around in the night they stare at the fires and listen to the screaming from the town below. They are all crying.
@thehindmost88 I set my photos on slideshow to music from BSG. Passaglia is one of my favorites. It perfectly suits my beach photos, flowers, wildlife, scenes of Scotland and more. To be galactically correct i added some pics of nebulae i found online. I also did a video of our Christmas tree to Passaglia and it is magical. In the dream i mentioned the setting seems to be medieval and at the end of the dream I escape and am somehow flying...a common solution to escape in dreams.
Funny I found out that if u listen closely that this is a Spanish song with a beat cut out u can hear it better in the song the shape of thinks to come in this same album but if u really listen u will hear it
Passacaglia and The Shape of Things to Come from S1, Allegro and A Promise to Return from S2, and Violence and Variations from S3 all have the same motif, I believe. THEY ARE ALL SO PRETTY!! Lovelovelove! <3
who disliked this?! the fact that music is possibly the most important thing to the human race (in this fable) is what i love the most about this show
@JediNg135 Don't look at me I came here from Richard Gibbs channel, and I swear, I was trying to get through a full song. I don't have that problem here.
I've always found this piece to be so striking that even after all the spectacular music Bear has given us since, all of which I absolutely love, I still find this to be my favorite. There is just something so compelling about it.
try torrents sites, like isohunt or thepiratebay. you can probably find albums from all four seasons. only thing is u need a program like azureus vuze (torrent downloader, only one i rely on)

@bassbonesteve I was impressed it went this long without one. Someone probably just did it out of spite and not actually disliking it.
JediNg135 3 months ago 8
@JediNg135 I wouldn't call it spite, I'd call it an irritating sense of humor

I love this one as well. I like most of the ones at and including Battle on the Asteroid and after. Except for 1 - 3.
I'd rank them
Passacaglia + Shape of things to come
A good lighter
Wander my friends
Battle on the Asteroid
Two Funerals
