i think because of it's sheer size and the number of people whi go there. I suppose rips are fairly common too which doesn't help..

They mentioned before that when tourists go there they tend to swim close to the rocks because it's close to the busses and hostels. (I think they call it backpackers rip) Problem is they don't know that it's the most dangerous part of the beach. Many people just don't swim between the red and yellow flags. That's how most of the accidents happen. Also when people don't know how to keep themselves from getting swept up by the rips.

i live in australia and i live in the country i have cousins and aunties and uncles who live on farms that is one of the best most peaceful awsom places u can be or the beach... i would rather live at uluru than in america... let me guess u go to disney land and theme parks every day .... even if u think oz is 99% desert its better than it being 99% builings, smog, theme parks,and crap...by the way australia has got more "lush fertile land than europe does... they are basicaly cars and smog

nothing to with national pride at all, i used to be a lifesaver myself and know exactly what these guys go through every day and how hard they have to train to do what they do so you insulting them over not being excellent at being medically knowledgeable wasn't even relevant was what i was trying to say. these lifesavers would yearly save thousands minimum of lives, i'm not assuming to know how many lives you've saved but i doubt it would be that many.and i'm not insecure in any way at all.

Which, in order to keep their jobs just reach the requirements two being A Workcover accredited Senior First Aid Certificate & A VETAB accredited Advanced Resuscitation Certificate, i'm sure they both invovle some form of protocol

Dude dont knock the UK, i been there. we might have great beaches and weather but thats all we got.
