Just get a leash long enough to wrap around your waist. this way you have better control of your balance and dog. every time he pulls your going to have to correct the steering.
Great job! Very creative; just goes to show that you don't have to have fancy/expensive store bought contraptions to be able to walk you dog with a bike. Great exercise for a high energy dog too!
