I love this song! It's one of the one I've memorized quickly. I've been wanting to sing and don't know the lyrics to many of the songs on the new album so I haven't listened to it as much as I would like. :(
@alex78452 i just went to their concert on sunday and they are amazing!!! it was a small theatre and Isaac called everyone to the front for this song and heartbeat!! and i was so close to him :D !!! ohh and he walked in the aisles and went on the upper level too!! omgg .. loll sorry to break your heart i got too excited :)

Ok The Fray had been my favorite band your a very long time and I would have to say this song just might be my favorite of theirs-3 Such powerful lyrics... Tells a great story-3 And that's I why The Fray is a wonderful band:)
For those who feel the chorus is out of place, think of it this way: The fighter is the prideful man who is blinded by his dreams while the one he truly loves tries to bring him back down to earth; because he is blinded by pride, there is a chance that their relationship cannot work, thus he says "Maybe we were meant to be lonely." When he says "Loneliness has always been with me," he is implying that he's been alone all his life, and he finds it hard to believe that his lover could change that.
This song's is simply perfect. One of the bests in the album. So much passion and feel in this one. Definitely one of my favs. in the album. Love you guys! Keep making them music. ;] ♥

I can understand it being placed in there because Isaac said he wrote this song while he was alone in a cabin and looking at a Norman Rockwell painting of a boxing match. I would pin the verses as about the painting (with all of the "fighter" references) and then the chorus about his thoughts while spending alone time in the cabin ("loneliness").

@musiicisme123 I think there's the obvious meaning of a soldier going to war but I see more to it than that, calling it "the fighter" it's like he's talking about all kinds of fights one might through. Or it might even be talking about a forbidden love, wanting what the world won't let you have and having to fight everything for it... and these battles never end, and this seems like a last battle they both knew the outcome of "But lovers don't always win"

I can be just as big of fan as you by listening to their stuff on Youtube. Besides, a "true" fan would probably value seeing them live over owning any product.

It's not the fact that I spent "x" amount money. It's the fact that I purchased the album virtually 3 times. What is important is WHY i spent the money? It's our actions that define us, my actions like Layback5 put it, defines me as a fan.

Maybe the mark of a REAL fan is watching their Youtube vids, promoting them to your friends, learning how to play their songs on an instrument, or any other activity that doesn't involve spending money. Maybe sitting at home surrounded with your pile of merch validates you as a "fan", but it doesn't for me.

Downloading songs before they're out on the market to be bought isn't wrong - what's wrong is never buying them when they are on the market. Just makes you cheap, and you're stealing from what they make a living on
I found this song form the US iTunes store. I've known all along that the Scars and Stories album was meant to be coming out 7th February; however now I hear that that is just in the US and it doesn't come out here in Britain until the 5th of March. :@. I think I'll bring my New York trip forward a few months :D
@speo24: I know man. It's really aggravating me. I've tried emailing Epic Records, asking at Record Shops, looking on Amazon, and asking friends in the States. The only other thing I can think to do is tweet directly to The Fray and see if they can do something. No fairness whatsoever, though. Especially when you think that everywhere else in the world, the Album is released Feb 7th. Not only that, but I also hear the US one will have 5 extra songs! NOT FAIR! :(
@pianodrew Darn record companies. Ah well...guess we'll just have to wait an extra month. Sure hope they'll come tour UK though. Read somewhere it's all to do with the demand. But I'm certain The Fray should not worry about it...they'll still sell out cause Europe loves them even if they're not as big as they are in the States!
@speo24: Yeah, it's a real pain. I'm trying desperately to find a route of getting the album sooner; if I manage to find a way, I'll sure post a comment on this video :). What annoys me is they come over here to the UK, have interviews with ITV and Radio 1 and say that they have more fans in the UK than anywhere outside of the US, and we still get the album last. I guess though It's more in the hands of the record company than the band themselves.
@pianodrew Yeah it doesn't make sense to delay the release another month. Im sure if it was up to The Fray personally they'd do it globally. Anyway keep us posted if you find a way:)

@musiicisme123 I think there's the obvious meaning of a soldier going to war but I see more to it than that, calling it "the fighter" it's like he's talking about all kinds of fights one might through. Or it might even be talking about a forbidden love, wanting what the world won't let you have and having to fight everything for it... and these battles never end, and this seems like a last battle they both knew the outcome of "But lovers don't always win"

@DeepFryingGravity Being a "true" Fray fan doesn't depend on how much money you have to spend on their merchandise. You're not better than everyone else, just because you have more disposable income. I can be just as big of fan as you by listening to their stuff on Youtube. Besides, a "true" fan would probably value seeing them live over owning any product.

Thirdly you are making so many assumptions, just for the sake of being argumentative. Obsessed, is probably what I am, because I love their music. @echalvorson Echalvorson, I specifically said "True Mark" not a "True Fan".
It's not the fact that I spent "x" amount money. It's the fact that I purchased the album virtually 3 times. What is important is WHY i spent the money? Which was in order to, like I said, enhance the experience. The "True Mark" is there to imply that without a doubt, I am fan of The Fray. It's our actions that define us, my actions like Layback5 put it, defines me as a fan.

@dramaticpickles I'm "bashing" on him because he brags about how much merch he can buy. Maybe spending money is HIS mark of a true fan, but I don't have money to spend on things. Maybe the mark of a REAL fan is watching their Youtube vids, promoting them to your friends, learning how to play their songs on an instrument, or any other activity that doesn't involve spending money. Maybe sitting at home surrounded with your pile of merch validates you as a "fan", but it doesn't for me.

I found this song form the US iTunes store. I've known all along that the Scars and Stories album was meant to be coming out 7th February; however now I hear that that is just in the US and it doesn't come out here in Britain until the 5th of March. :@. I think I'll bring my New York trip forward a few months :D

@speo24: I know man. It's really aggravating me. I've tried emailing Epic Records, asking at Record Shops, looking on Amazon, and asking friends in the States. The only other thing I can think to do is tweet directly to The Fray and see if they can do something. No fairness whatsoever, though. Especially when you think that everywhere else in the world, the Album is released Feb 7th. Not only that, but I also hear the US one will have 5 extra songs! NOT FAIR! :(

But I'm certain The Fray should not worry about it...they'll still sell out cause Europe loves them even if they're not as big as they are in the States!

@speo24: Yeah, it's a real pain. I'm trying desperately to find a route of getting the album sooner; if I manage to find a way, I'll sure post a comment on this video :). What annoys me is they come over here to the UK, have interviews with ITV and Radio 1 and say that they have more fans in the UK than anywhere outside of the US, and we still get the album last. I guess though It's more in the hands of the record company than the band themselves.
