  • references are just a little thank you to fans for watching the show in years gone by, I wasn't even born when Liz was a companion but it takes no time to search for a few clips and know who she was.

  • I don't get it when ppl diss the show for refernces like this they do no harm,

in the words of the man himself.

    "refernces are cool"

  • i really don't get why ppl rag ont he show when it references past continuity like this. So what if only fans are gonna get it if i wans't a fan it would just be a funny moment, it dos no harm.

In the words of the man himself

"i reference now. refernces are cool"

  • When did they get psychic paper? Did it start with Christopher Eccelston?

  • @misterplatypus96 Yes and no. It started with Captain Jack using it on the Doctor.

  • @mdtalley no it didnt it started in the 2nd episode, when the dr wasn't invited to that meeting thing and he showed the alien the paper and said im the dr and this is rose tyler my +1

  • @mdtalley no christipher eccelston used it way before captain jack was seen

  • @misterplatypus96 Yes it was never seen in the classic series

  • Ben Aaronovitch wrote excellent Doctor Who.

  • I miss Liz Shaw. She was a good foil for the Third Doctor. Jo Grant was awesome though.

  • They'd better hurry. At the end they got Prince's drum machine from "Purple Rain" following them!

  • What does he say "What we need is something to....us"? Can't make it out.

  • Liz Shaw! Wahey!

  • thank you for cutting before the bad late-80s Doctor Who music got going.

  • @grahamlaur There was some good music in Remembrance of the Daleks when Ace escaped the science lab while under attack from a Dalek. I agree though, any time I hear that synthesized drum beat, no matter where it is the worst of the 80's and early 90's comes to mind.

If you want bad Doctor Who music though, look up the Doctor/master sword fight with Pertwee/Delgado. I'm not sure it qualified as music.

  • @tf2whackyengineer The thing about Dudley Simpson's Pertwee scores was that they were hilariously cheesy in their badness. I actually like them. The worst music of the Mccoy era is just cheap, depressing, and intrusive. I recall a reasonably moody theme in "Curse of Fenric." I will revisit "Remembrance" and see if you are correct.

  • @grahamlaur Alright. :) tell me what you think. It's a bit generic, but it actually suits the scene and is slightly catchy, at least the bass beat is. The silly drum machine sounds like fake clapping.

Oh also, the music playing on the radio before it is silly bad.

I found the scene, put this in search.

  • @tf2whackyengineer that's a fantastic cliffhanger, first of all... somebody knew how to shoot an action sequence!

I can merely give average marks to the music. It is trying to sound very "exciting" but is still too obviously synthesized to be taken seriously.

  • @tf2whackyengineer The Sea Devils music by Malcome Clarke was a total classic! Love that stuff!

  • I want to fink like a fivifist!

  • I LOVE the little "Hm?" the Doc gives when Ace says "Who's Elizabeth Shaw?"! I just love it!

  • Liz! only other referance to Liz was "The 5 Doctors" I think.

  • For those of you watching this and are just as confused as Ace, Elizabeth "Liz" Shaw was the first companion to serve the the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee). She only appeared in 4 serials though; the first four serials of the Third Doctor era (in other words, season 7). She was portrayed by Caroline John, who would reprise the role for the 20th aniversary special and the 30th aniversary special.

  • Is that the Psychic Paper?

  • @GeneHunt01 yes it is

  • @BossRoss999 No, of course it isn't, silly.

  • @GeneHunt01 No they are Unit passes from the third doctor's era

  • What's more interesting is how did he end up with her UNIT pass? ;)

  • Think like a physicist

"I will now demonstrate the effects of gravity with my highly volitile can of deoderant"

  • @Venn64 *dalek mothership explodes*

  • Timelord tailoring. Always enough space. XD

  • Great scene, gave me a chuckle; thx for posting! Wish my purse was bigger on the inside, lol.

  • His pockets are bigger on the inside :)

  • @Venn64 NATURALLY, my friend!

  • @Venn64 transdymentinal engineeered pockets !!!

  • why on earth is he keeping unit passes in his hat??

and the amount of crap he pulled out of his pocets is unbeliveable, mind you they've all done that!! :-D :-p

  • It's the Doctor; why not?

  • exactly!!! :-D

  • Original idea of Psychic Paper?

  • Exactly what I thought!

  • That's cool because the two complete seasons I'd most like to collect are this one and the one with the third Doctor and Liz Shaw

  • A man of taste, I see. Two best seasons ever!

  • "Just think like a physicist", good refrence, very funny

  • I saw this thing here hughot . com some time ago... hmmm

  • that's a brilliant 3rd Doctor Refrence. thanks for posting that!
