I'm not very fond of the costume ideas..

It just doesn't fit the whole concept of Seuss. They aren't supposed to look exactly/act exactly like the actual animals. Seuss is all about imagination of course and creativity.

A lot of the characteristics in this aren't quite correct. The cat is supposed to be against Horton in this scene, I know not literally, but it explains his behaviour later. I'm not very fond of the way this exactly went..

but that's my opinion.

I was a bird girl in this play and this was amazing!!!!!!!! but when we did it ours was much slower........ probably cuz we had a live band but its seriously AMAZING

I thought it was awesome. And I agree with a lot of people who were saying that ya'll must have some money. lol the only thing i didnt enjoy was the character that the Cat was portrayed. IDK why but I didnt like the casting for the Cat. I am sure whoever the person is a fine actor but It just didnt feel right.

my high school just performed this show on the 1st and 2nd, and we're doing it the 7th, 8th, and 9th. our production concept, instead of actually being the animals, was kids playing dress up as the characters from the book.

im in this show as the judge, yertle the turle, and i suck so bad at it. in every version of the song on youtube they say " based on the evidence i have no choice to order the defendent horton the elephant remanded to the nool aylum for the crimanally insane" they saw it fast but i have to sing it high and slow and i cant do it i am always about 5 seconds ahead and its just gonna suck when the show comes in 3 DAYS

I played Yertle the Turtle and I had to sing so low and I'm in the 4th grade. It's hard because I usually sing acapallo and i sing high not low. Singing alto makes my voice crack. You didn't do that bad. I think you did good.

We are doing this musical. Though this one I don't like. The sour kangroo outfit is really bad. Ours is going to be more "sour." I don't like the bird girl outfits either, but that is my opion. The singing is really good. :)

Also they need more background.

Actually, at this point in the musical, we are changing the set behind the curtain, that's why they don't have a background. If you would have waited 2 minutes, you would have SEEN the background. As for your opinion, super. That's your opinion. Everyone prefers their set and costumes to everyone elses.

and if you depend too much on the costumes explaining the characters, then the actors can't really work as hard with hand gestures and facial expressions.

in our production, the costumes are just resembling the character, with touches such as feathers.

The same for ours. We didn't have any animal costumes at all. I was Yertele the Turtle and the most that i resembled was a hard shell and even then it was black with Neon Pink, Yellow Green and Blue swirls on it. Our birds had feathers and Horton's costume was gray shirt and cargo shorts. And Vlad Valatikoff had a black cape for his "wings". the only animals were a stuffed kangaroo puppet for the baby and a stuffed elephants with pinned on wings fro the Elephant bird.

This production has the best set design and costumes I have seen by far. The only downfall was that the music was a bit rushed, which didn't allow the melodies to carry through. Otherwise, the overall visual effect is amazing! Congratulations.

You're not really giving much of an answer. Why depict Dr. Seuss if you are not prepared to create the characters? People need to use their imagination, but people don't go to theater to think, they go to be entertained. These costumes are visual and asthetic, not as insulting as making the audience beleive that the horton is a man in a grey t-shirt.

Okay, anybody who has been a cast member, directed, produced, or even read the Seussical script should know that the authors themselves stress the fact that this musical should NOT be overdone. The story is about the life & problems this characters go through and to see how human their problems are. Therefore, overdoing the costumes ruins the whole theme. Any experienced director would understand this concept.

i was really glad to see that the Zebra girl was the marshall. Ever since even seeing your curtincall clip, which was the first i saw of this show, i'd kept an eye out for her because she has huge stage presence so i'm really glad she atleast was given those tidbit lines. Cat and Gertrude are so much fun to watch while they were together. Very cute.
