Hello ReielSC, Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm sorry that I did not mention in the video how the gear may have been used. I think that this gear was likely part of a machine called a zakuri. Zakuri were used in the silk production industry to hold and turn special bobbins called itomaki. The machines were typically made entirely of wood and featured several wooden gears like this. I hope that this helps. -Kurt :-)
