  • this is a little to fast

  • best piece I've ever played :) so beautiful

  • played this and the audience was silent for 30 seconds...out of awe

  • @Doppity or they were confused whether it ended or not xD

  • WhitaChords!!!!

  • So wonderfull!!!!!

  • this piece is amazing

you can ever hear the band breathing right before each phrase

  • Simple chords? This is Eric Whitacre. Nothing is simple.

  • I frickin live this piece soo much.

  • I remember in my 7th grade year they gave us this piece to sightread. It was insane really, the piece was far too complicated for a middle school band, but I was first horn and I was shocked by the horn solo. I tried, but to be honest, that was way out of my reach. I'd like to play it again now that I'm in highschool. It really is a beautiful piece.

  • my band is playing this for one of our competitions

  • i had the french horn solo in this song and is by far my favorite ballad so far(;

  • I was 8th chair clarinet at all reigion this year when we played it, sure I wasn't happy with my chair but any piece made this song perfect... I cries when we played-3

  • Not sure I agree with the description. I would hardly call these simple chords, lol.

  • We played this in the All-Region First band. It's so beautiful. ♥

  • @LiveNerdy so did we! were you in arkansas?

  • @RampagingDragons7 Yes. O_O Region 6?

  • @LiveNerdy I believe that's what my folder said. To be sure, we played Ignition, Chant and Jubilo, Lux Aurumque, and Olav Trygvason Op.50 Scene 3.

  • @LiveNerdy was that your songs?

  • @RampagingDragons7 Yeah! Wow. I was 9th chair Clarinet. :D

  • @LiveNerdy Awesome! I was 8th chair percussion, and I had the timpani part on Olav ^^ much fun

  • i saw this last night performed by the Florida All State Symphonic Band and I was almost in tears by the end of that paradise lost section. it was just so good. and this was like 3 days after soaring leap....

  • I play clarinet, and the end was hard. Our director made that part so slow. Holding an A for that long isn't easy.

  • This song is so amazing. I'm also playing in my high school band, but we sound like crap.

  • We're playing this in my school concert band right now. My favourite song to play. So beautiful!

  • There are so many unpleasant things I would do if it meant I could play this piece...

  • I wish our version would have had the cymbal crescendo....lol, such a boring song for percussion....which is why I am now playing French Horn.. lol

  • @XxEcLiPzeX Playing songs like this on horn make the marches worthwhile. lol

  • @XxEcLiPzeX Yeah, first time I heard this piece there was no suspended cymbal, and I thought it was supposed to be that way; now that I hear it WITH the cymbal, it's more beautiful than ever... :)

  • wow this is beautiful!

but of course me being a choir nerd, i prefer the version for voice. just because the words and voices add a special something something to it :)

  • This is so beautiful...I play clarinet and I just got back form playing this in my concert tonight. Playing from 1:52 to 2:25 is so powerful, you can feel the chords flowing through you and stirring up all of your emotions. You feel like laughing and crying at the same time. It was great performing it.

  • This is one of my favorite peices. I am in jr high, and I play the oboe, and we played this. It makes me cry every time I hear it because that was the best year for me in band. The only thing that would make it better is if the oboe put more (faster) vibrato on the G (the solo note) and if the clarinet solo in the end was louder. I truely love this song, and I think these people did a great job.

  • @121mermiad Careful about what you say. Remember this is the UNLV wind orchestra and I'm sure the oboe player did what he/she though was best. Interpretation is up to the conductor. Best of luck to you :)

  • This piece really touched me. I'm first chair trumpet in my high school band and we are working on this right now. All I can say is wow...

  • goede uitvoering

  • This is still my favorite piece of music I've ever played. When you play this live, and you can feel the vibrations moving in you, it's absolutely one of the most beautiful experiences imaginable. This is an excellent version

  • @Go0Go0Barabajagal ikr me and my band is playing it now love it
