  • this is about the storage of insulin not the types of insulin there are.

  • Actually, studies showed that only 1-3% of animal insulin users were allergic, the same estimate as synthetics. No study has shown that synthetics are safer or more effective than animal insulins. Yes, insulin therapy should be "highly individualized". There used to be 32 different types -- beef, pork, beef/pork, rDNA and analogues. Now there are a lot fewer types so there is less ability to develop an individualized approach.

  • This video is only talking about synthetic insulin. Natural animal sourced insulins can be kept well beyond the expiry date and when opened can be stored until the vial is empty. Synthetic insulins are crappy.

  • Remember that Natural Insulin has a higher tendencie to cause allergic reactions in diabetics than synthetic insulin. To say simply that one is better than the other does not tell the whole story. Insulin therapy and different insulin regements are highly individualized. A client must work in conjunction with his or her health providers to create the best plan of care.

  • Who cares? Good luck even finding that stuff nowadays.
