OHMYGOD!! I remember seeing this BEFORE i got into kpop! I never knew it was Teen Top until now! Its so weird watching it again and seeing Super Junior, Big Bang and Rain and thinking back to when i had no idea who they were. :D <3 Teen Top look like babies there ^-^
I already knew that being a kpop star is really hard. So im kinda pissed that he said manufactured. They decided to do all of this on their own accord and they they definitely have the drive to do it. Why else would they accept the crazy schedules? Plus everything done my big companies is manufactured. I wish they would take a deeper look into kpop. Not get someone who is new to this.

Actually, most people criticize American artists on their performing talent (e.g. singing, dancing), not songwriting talent. K-Pop artists undergo extensive training before debuting; it can be anywhere from 1-7 years, perhaps more. Not anyone can make it big in K-Pop like in the U.S.A. where all they need is "a pretty voice".
there are plenty of korean artists who write their own songs, and write songs for other groups too, just as there are in the US. It's a shame that this TV show made aspiring kpop artists look like slaves. For most performers, pre-debut, they aren't under any contracts. They go to school too ( college or grade school). (Korean education system is very strict compared to US. ) while all the training is voluntary. They can quit if they decide to.

Try not to get upset, it is a business and the profit drives it. We've all seen the marketing power of a successful group. The fact that GD&TOP's Dre Beats headphones run about 577usd and the group is marketed to teens is MADness. However the boys get to live their dream of entertaining, but its well known if successful, they lose their public freedom. Pre-debut training, plus debut, plus whatever needs to be done to keep them popular. I'm a fan, however its a tedious industry.

The --show-- is portraying K-Pop, specifically "boybands" in a bad light here. Calling them "manufactered" and talking about how they make money through commercials and how the boys "sacrifice" their youth to be famous is insulting. At the end of the day, they (the show) failed to mention inspite of it all, they are all --talented-- and are --happy-- with the life choice that they've (the boys) made.
Kpop doesn't copy? Ever heard about the plagiarism lawsuits against some companies because they kind ripped off some artists in Europe? And come on...I’m really sick and tired of 20 years of copycat R&B musics by pretty faces and pretty dances – mass produced by the main stream commercial music producers who only think about their profits. In my opinion (as the way I see it) I thought Girlbands where more popular than boybands, well, I like boybands too, but like 1 or 2 boybands and 5 girlbands.
It's really different the essence that comes from a boyband and the one of a girlband.
I practically feel normal with boybands, but for me is with girlbands that I become a "ruse fan" (not in a sexual way~), I mean that if you mess up with my favourite girlband I'll fight for them =D
I like the negativity, such a lie. They make it sound like music artists in Korea just do it for the money and fame and get in just for looks and such. All of the music artists deliver hard work and passion! To me, it sounded more like the American Music industry than Asia / Korea. Either way, this is MTV, they deliver false, negative statements half the time. Cool that the Asian culture is presented on MTV though.

Thia ia a very narrow depiction of kpop. Sure, there's a lot of marketing involved but that happens practically everywhere. A lot of artists nowadays are more known for their star power than their music. Kpop actually does have a lot more to offer than that.

@youronebiggestfan Generally, they don't write their own music. Just like this video stated, they are controlled greatly by their recording label. Actually, most people criticize American artists on their performing talent (e.g. singing, dancing), not songwriting talent. K-Pop artists undergo extensive training before debuting; it can be anywhere from 1-7 years, perhaps more. Not anyone can make it big in K-Pop like in the U.S.A. where all they need is "a pretty voice".

there are plenty of korean artists who write their own songs, and write songs for other groups too, just as there are in the US. It's a shame that this TV show made aspiring kpop artists look like slaves. For most performers, pre-debut, they aren't under any contracts. They go to school too ( college or grade school). (Korean education system is very strict compared to US. ) while all the training is voluntary. They can quit if they decide to.

Try not to get upset, it is a business and the profit drives it. We've all seen the marketing power of a successful group. The fact that GD&TOP's Dre Beats headphones run about 577usd and the group is marketed to teens is MADness. However the boys get to live their dream of entertaining, but its well known if successful, they lose their public freedom. Pre-debut training, plus debut, plus whatever needs to be done to keep them popular. I'm a fan, however its a tedious industry.

The --show-- is portraying K-Pop, specifically "boybands" in a bad light here. Calling them "manufactered" and talking about how they make money through commercials and how the boys "sacrifice" their youth to be famous is insulting. At the end of the day, they (the show) failed to mention inspite of it all, they are all --talented-- and are --happy-- with the life choice that they've (the boys) made.

In my opinion (as the way I see it) I thought Girlbands where more popular than boybands, well, I like boybands too, but like 1 or 2 boybands and 5 girlbands.
It's really different the essence that comes from a boyband and the one of a girlband.
I practically feel normal with boybands, but for me is with girlbands that I become a "ruse fan" (not in a sexual way~), I mean that if you mess up with my favourite girlband I'll fight for them =D

I like the negativity, such a lie. They make it sound like music artists in Korea just do it for the money and fame and get in just for looks and such. All of the music artists deliver hard work and passion! To me, it sounded more like the American Music industry than Asia / Korea. Either way, this is MTV, they deliver false, negative statements half the time. Cool that the Asian culture is presented on MTV though.

Thia ia a very narrow depiction of kpop. Sure, there's a lot of marketing involved but that happens practically everywhere. A lot of artists nowadays are more known for their star power than their music. Kpop actually does have a lot more to offer than that.

The sad thing is, that they(members of boygroups/girlgroups) don't even get at least HALF of the money that they make in each commercial or whatever, it mostly goes to the company . I appreciate that they gave Kpop some attention, but really, they talk about it so negatively!
