  • 3 guys to survey a point. I Sweden we do it with one guy, and 3 times as quick.

  • ¥T¥

  • TCR1103, best gun there ever was

  • How was that good? It looked like he was leaning the rod. You boys need to tighten up.

  • @64abadfish2 are you kidding? in a creek and your worried about it being off :D

  • @scubadave89 , bro wait to you suss out the trimble... unreal!

  • LEICA IS THE BEST

  • working for my father we use a leica tps1200+ and let me tell you something if you have the money to invest in one get it. the best instrument i have ever used.

  • i remember being a rodman and runing the HP good times

  • I see this is still rolling..... oh its a set 5

  • great profession mate or should I say almost college

  • what set is that? Looks like a Sokia. Fortunately the Army has finally updated us to the Trimble 5700 series. My unit also has the NavCom (juniper systems) with Eaglepoint software....BLAH! I hate Eaglepoint and I hate Terramodel. Bring back MicroStation!

  • Kudos From Morris Associates In Poughkeepsie NY. God Speed and Remember To Taunt All Engineers.

  • my company only use topcon gts 239n.

  • Haha, nice one. :)

  • That better have been a doobie that the rodman was smoking otherwise you're not real surveyors.

  • we had a guy in our unit we dubbed as "the ultimate rod man" one of his million poses was hand on hip with smoke lol

  • one of the funniest things i've seen... I've been a surveyor for eighteen years

  • we already shot that point---the elevation is no good!!!

  • i'm working in vietnam monitoring movement of rc piles....it's so fucking boring and making a report

  • I love the one guy smoking and the other one chewing.. haha.. I can relate.. A true surveyor! All thats missing is a cold one!

  • Im amazed that this video still get some much attention... Thanks guys

    Elementboy2

  • Element Boy,check out my site for some Scottish surveying videos.Should give you a laugh.Surveying is the best job going. All the best from Scotland!

  • the greatest thing about land surveying is no one knows exactly what the hell you do. They think surveying is for math geniuses but all we do these days is push buttons. lol

  • I work as a Land Suveyor, and frankly it`s boring. Best job I have had so far, but still it`s boring.

The new Leica GPS 1200 rocks, but my company mostly uses the ancient leica 1103.

  • I love this video, Its very inspirational. You should come on over to oregon and do some timber boundary surveying!

  • Thanks!

  • I am from Hungary i am survey for a seismic oil and gas research company. We use Leica. I worked with RT-300,500,1200GPS... it can be suck, sometimes the satellites so massed up i cant store a point for 2 hours.

  • when you guys going to get a new gun?

  • What is wrong with the gun we have? Sure its 10 years old but hell it shoots great D!

We have updated our collector... Recon!

As you can see in my latest Videos!

    And a new I man

    DRB

  • ok

    ??

  • you guys are baked, check out that monster joint in that rodman's mouth.

  • haha, i've surveyed lightly stoned. but i think - joint is for off-duty time.

despite some very hard surveying objects, I love surveying.

  • Money sucks but if your addicted your addicted. surveying is like crack that way. Seen many go down to it. Surveying, not crack.

  • Pretty cool... I'll give you a link-back on my blog! therangepole dot org

  • Have alot of surveyor videos

  • Great it will be posted on globalsurveyors dot blogspot dot com

  • great video. Could i link it on my website?

  • yes you can...

  • i survey in the chattanooga area and i'm happy with my topcon 600..... just finished a 200 acre boundary and closed it 1 in 363,542 (had to throw that in there everybody at work is sick of hearing it) keep the vids coming

  • What time of turns are you doing? Double?

  • no direct traversing (the company i work for isn't the best, they believe the quicker the better..... i don't agree but it's a pay check)

  • I do both its depends on what im doing with the survey..

    Subdivision (Double) Boundary (Single)

  • i agree just depends on the size of the boundary.... 200 acres i wish i could of doubled

  • I had so much anticipation for something unusual to happen in this video ... like a snake or shark or something.

  • we are using topcons in georgia-tough as nails and turn good angles. Sure is cool to see that surveying drives everyone insane like it does us boys down in georgia-u guys are funny as.

  • Leica tcrp1202 all the way!

  • I started with a trimble but upgraded to a topcon GPT-3000W. Wanted to go robotic but it didn't fit the budget. Bluetooth....it pretty much kicks ass. No cords...trust me, it makes a huge difference. GPS...pshh. I don't like the idea of satellites twenty thousand miles away calcing points I want shot within a hundredth. Last summer I had a guy walking up to his chest in a nasty pond with poison ivy 5 feet tall all around trying to get edge shots. Gotta love running the gun.

  • Hi I survey in the texas hill country. TRIMBLE RULESSSS! I have recently downgraded to topcon and leica it really sucks. My suggestion is TRIMBLE all the way GPS and total station

  • Haha, I just watched the video again. Is that your backsight about a hundred feet away?? Yeah, we dont use the GPS too often either because although it is pretty good as far as horizontal is concerned, its vertical sucks and you have to level to anything you put in the ground. BTW, we use Topcon GTS. We just got a new one and I dont remember the series, but it has bluetooth and it sucks. The bluetooth loses connection every 5 minutes and takes forever to come back to earth lol.

  • Thats a check... LOL! Ya Im not much of a fan of the ole bluetooth.. You bump our Recon and it out! Nothing but trouble...

  • Out here in Southeast Virginia, we dont have Rodmen anymore. 2 man crews run the world. And now we are even downsizing to one man crews with the GPS and Leica Robot units. It kinda sucks

  • We mostly run 2 man crews. But we get some part time help every once in awhile. AS the goofy but loveable crew chief I let all Rookies do the water surveying (Ain't I a stinker.) Im do mostly Large boundary surveying and GPS is of no use to me. Lots of heavy woods here.. :)

  • jokes

  • Is that a SOKKIA SET 5F total Station? Very good instrument! It works forever!

  • its a set 5E I love it its been droped kicked beat up and still turns great angles...ive had 2 of them works great HATE the new ones. Its this or the Nikons for me.

    Dave

  • I love my job

  • dude-- your rod man wasn't holdin it leveled-- damn -lol

  • If I need to worry about him keeping it PLUMB in a creek i got problems! Just messing ya he is a idiot and the only thing id use him for is getting wet in a creek...

  • i do suveys a lot-- and sometimes i wish there was also a rifle hooked up with my geodolite- woohoo --a new rodman--lol

  • the only jobs i'll take in the city are where i can zoom in on the cutie morning joggers....college campuses allow for no work to be completed

  • Im working on a city greenway project and no girls to be seen there!!! sigh!!! LOL What part of the world do you work in?

  • thats kinda obvious from this video-lol

  • do you guys know Julie Warden.. I believe she's from there and about your age.

  • I think she works for a company called Wiser
