  • Chris Squire !!! Superb !!!!!

  • @loryyy69 what is with Mr Black Cock

  • This is such a great song and arrangement...

  • Perfection.

  • AS GOOD NOW AS THEN.....FISH OUT OF WATER.... GOD BLESS CHRIS.

  • Bummer that the rest of this content was yanked.. Lucky 7 etc....

  • I would cheerfully sacrifice inches off my manhood to see Chris tour this album

  • Superb

  • Excellent. I always thought Squire's album needed more guitar.

  • Who are the 2 who dislike this??? Maybe they're deaf, or from Mars. A real shame really :(

  • All I can say is WOW! Chris is the man!

  • I love this man!

  • He's the COOLEST musician on earth. PERIOD!!!!! Thanks a bunch for posting this!!

  • Ohhhhh Man!!!!!!!! What can u say:)

  • Cool. It ain't the original, but this cool too. "Fish Out Of Water" and "Olias" are the best YES solo records, hands down. My two little girls love "Lucky Seven". Is this Conspiracy?

  • Cool. It ain't the original, but this cool too. "Fish Out Of Water" and "Olias" are the best YES solo records, hands down. My two little girls love "Lucky Seven".

  • awesome

  • Loved this album. My favorite bassist ever.

  • thers a dislinke button y? how can u not like this song

  • Trevor Rabin back there in the shadows?

  • No, Billy Sherwood

  • How bloody cool is Chris Squire?!! That bass sound has been a friend of mine for years!

  • Chris Squire a kapela Yes včetně všech muzikantů co kdy v ní hráli jsou absolutní špičky v historiji rockové muziky.Míra CV

  • holy! Never knew this existed before now. I wore out around 3 of those albums. Probably the best solo album by any rock star ever.

  • Rock nobility.

  • Que te ayude JON ANDERSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is that Bruford on the drums ?

  • @plowe2 Not Bruford on this piece - though he did appear on the original studio version of this

  • Look at how thin the neck of his bass is!! Incredible; after all those years of shaving and repairing the fret board the neck looks like it could snap. I'm sure it's reduced the weight of the Rick and that's why he can hold it up with one hand after performances! Rock on, Chris.

  • I love these two songs!! (well I love all songs from Fish out of Water,LOL)Thanks!!

  • So COOL. Verse is alternating bars of 15/8 and 3/4.

  • Chris Sqiure je nejlepší basák art rockové muziky

  • Man, now that we see he can sing lead it'd be cool to hear Chris and Geddy change places for a month... can you imagine Geddy Lee groovin with YES while Chris is threading the bass between Lerxst and the Professor in RUSH?

    Imagine the new stuff!

  • @lastdaysguitar That would be pretty damn cool! I would love to have heard Yes with a different singer at some point, no offense to Jon Anderson I love ALL of Yes, but sometimes I would have liked to hear their musical approach with a different singer while they had everyone else amazing in the band. Or Jon Anderson still in, but not singing just his amazing ideas. Imagine if Yes was to have made an album with Greg Lake on vocals?! Honestly I do not think much could beat that!!!

  • WATCH MY BASS SOLO,PEOPLE

    It´s cool

This album Chris did is unique...songs from heaven

  • anyone got any idea when this was filmed?

  • Just great ! Speechless....

  • Olias? Dynamite album. Beginnings? One of my favorites. Ramshackled? Great stuff. Moraz? Interesting.

Fish Out of Water is the most resolute statement of all of them.

  • I also had two copies on vinyl... They were always in the cut-out bins! Still one of my favorite 'Yes' albums. Glad I now have the CD.

  • very impressive...

  • where when WHY DID I MISS THIS??

    did Squire tour this record?

  • @heykyleinsf ... This was not performed for an audience. For his Conspiracy project with Billy Sherwood, they recorded a performance in the studio for DVD.

    It is an AWESOME dvd.

  • I bought this LP twice and wore it out both times.

  • Chris, #1 Mr Rickenbacker!!!

  • This is a great song, Chris is a wonderful singer, and superb bass player. The more I see Billy S, my respect grows for him. TheBlackCock1's twisted and blind comments about Mr. Squires teeth should be ignored as an ignorant waste of space.

  • This sounds incredible with the guitar. Of course Squire sounds amazing.

  • @TheBlackCock1 This is You Tube, you don't have to be on it, or look at other peoples comments.

Hahah, You tell him to fuck off like its actually going to do something.

    Lulz.

And for an intelligent assessment on the video:

Chris Squire just became my favorite out of the Yes members.

    Fish out of Water=<3

  • @TheBlackCock1 You certainly do have a right to your opinions, but you can't go around communicating them in such an insulting manner and not expect negative feedback from fans of Chris Squire. When I met Chris he most certainly had all of his teeth, and it wouldn't matter if he didn't, seeing as it's his bass playing and musicianship I, and other reasonable human beings, pay attention to. P.S Suicide's an option you ignorant fuck haha

  • Hey cock, t was just a metal boggy I think, just don`t mind! Its very very cool to see this the first time, a 'Hold Out Your Hand/You By My Side' recording from 2007! Sensational to me!

  • @TheBlackCock1

thats probably the lowest fucking thing i have ever seen on the internet. Chris is in his 60's. Youre disgusting for making that comment. Your profile name speaks for itself. Loser!

  • Absolutely Great Great Stuff! I wish he was playing this on the new tour!

  • A perfect Yes song...

it couldn't be different, Squire is the spirit of Yes :)

  • Squire was the backing vocalist that went largely unappreciated but helped Jon Anderson to soar with Yes. Give another listen to all that Yes. The harmonizing with Anderson is Squire. Enjoy.

  • In Yes sound Squire is important like Banks in Genesis sound.

  • I always liked Chris' lead vocals on his Fish Out Of water album. Jon has 'the Yes voice' of course but it's Chris' harmonies that give the body to a lot of the recordings... what was that DVD where you see some in-the-studio recording of Going For The One - bizarre countermelodies from Mr Squire, and he sings them while playing not-too-easy bass parts too.

  • Wow, what a treat! The whole 'Fish Out of Water' is a gem.

  • very goof perfomance. Billy ... are you on guitar?? I have not seen you since 10kg ago ....

  • Is Sherwood on keys or guitar?

  • @stalrunner

I play gtr with Conspiracy, the keyboard player is my brother Mike.

    Cheers, Billy

  • Sherwood and Squire rocks !...their work together in the both Conspiracy albums were so superb....Chris should input more tunes for a new Yes album together with Howe and White...I hate to say what I am about to, but Yes need to get rid a little of Jon's "new aggie" and "polyann" rythms. Don't get me wrong I love Jon, but his latest inlfuences in the latest Yes albums led the band away from their proggie roots.

  • @trekie01 I love The Ladder, but you're right, Magnification was crap.

  • debio ser baladista, voz muy especial

  • saw this on the Retrospective cassette back in '93 or some such, and got the import CD from Amazon. All the songs on "Fish out of Water" are as good.

  • Maybe a true testament to a players influence is how deeply they touch others, especially those who are inspired by their playing and presence that they take up the instrument. There isn't a performance or session that I play that isn't informed by this hero of mine. Thank you Chris Squire for making my musical life richer and thanks to the poster for brightening my day/week.

  • Chris Squire had an special voice

  • Very underrated tune....

  • True, first time I hear it and it's very good.

  • Always loved this tune . .Chris Squire is COOL !!!

  • Excellent performance for this classic track from Fish out of Water album. Thanks.

  • Fantastic....

  • One of the most amazing voices on the planet indeed. Chris is publicly critical of his voice as he ages, but listen to his newest stuff and all of the grandeur is intact, and still as majestic as ever....

now Chris, since I've pumped you up howzabout that new solo album.....

  • Well, it has decreased a bit since the 70's, but it still has plenty of power behind it. Wish his bass sounded a bit stronger, though. But it still rocks! No hate mail.

  • chris has a really underated voice

  • that's amazing the genius in times past still in there.

  • Squire IS Yes.

His vocal and bass contributions to Yes albums are why ABWH is not YES, albeit very good

  • Chris Squire is my hero!

  • brilliant, just utter class!!so wanna play like squire!!

  • When the members of Yes decided to all make solo albums in 70 something (or was it 80), Fish Out of Water stood out as a truly exceptional album. But also noteworthy was was Howe's Beginnings. And Patrick Moraz's i was stellar, but still my favorite was Alan White's Ramshackled album. It was so out of character for a player from Yes yet a very nice album.

  • no. Olias of sunhillow. Best.

  • Great singer and player Chris is ,now isnt he!.He and John Entwhisle brought the treble out in many of us.Almost every self respecting bassist ,owns or has owned a Ric in their life.after a P and a Jazz then ...Rickenbacker.

  • In the 70s you could do something majestic like 'you by my side' and not be summarily dissed by the critics. I still love this entire album, and the pipe organ and arrangements by Price-Jackman are well-done and tasteful.

  • I have goosebumps.

  • I think Chris is the greatest prog rock bassist of all time - but there are a lot of incredible bassists out there who are in a completely different league.

    I respect Chris though.

  • Squire always was, and will always be the GREATEST bassist, bar none.......

  • @bds1167 are you kidding??? you clearly need to listen to more music!!

  • i love chris squire so much :)

  • "fish out of water" was truly an uncanny , brilliant and original album from the stable of when prog was actually hip. brilliant writing and arrangements and musicians , Patrick, Bill , Mel, Jimmy and Barry, with chris. what a line up! what a time! BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • before they called it prog

  • Who's on drums here?

  • Jay Schellan

  • brilliant ric sound!

  • 33 Years I have played the bass guitar, still top.

  • ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    in other words fucking brilliant!

  • so fucking brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DRUMMER SOUNDS JUST LIKE BILL AND THE KEYS SOUND LIKE PATRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCkING BRILLIANT!

  • It was Andrew Jackman on pipe organ on the original.

Patrick played C-3 on the record though.

    Fun stuff.

  • November 1975,

We were all getting high. Everyone. Teachers. Cops. Parents. Everyone. We were all watching some new show that started a few weeks ago. It's called Saturday Night Live. Pretty funny stuff. They're breakin all the rules. That Chevy Chase is a funny guy. Oh yeah, we're all listen to Chris Squires new album and it blows Relayer out of the water. Great album. Great Prog. It's almost a shame the bulk of his work had been in collaboration instead of solo. Either way, great album Fish!

  • Brilliant. So musical.

  • Brilliant stuff here ...

    love squire

  • hello

someone knows what model is the green bass guitar used by chris squire on the Rock in Armenia recordings??

  • It's a Ric 4 string model with a neck and "covered" bridge pickup....probably an older Ric bass.....maybe?? Might be a custom shop model but I doubt it.....no one has used the "covered" bridge setup for eons........since the 30's or 40's in regular manufacture ( Ric Guitars have been around for more than a century...keep that in mind). It's a good question.

  • that's cos the modern Ric pickup covers since the 70's are purely cosmetic and made of plastic. The older ones such as the one in the video are made of metal and are actually part of the pickup magnet and are needed to fucntion.

  • @AccousticBuilder I know the comment is 2 years old, but anyway -- Squire's Ric is an RM1999 from 1965. It was a budget version of the 4001 series, he bought it as a teenager from the music shop he worked in, modded it and refinished it to its unique yellow cream color, including sanding it thinner than stock. The pickup cover was standard and still used on many rics and other basses to this day.

  • "Fish" was one of three albums that I brought to Shaak electronics to pick out my first REAL stereo.

  • what a song !!!!!

"fish out of water " is an underrated masterpiece !!!

  • Remember hearing this for the first time on Holloween 1977.. I was so moved by the orchestration and dynamics... It became clear to me on You by My Side, that Chris Squire was the musical master and backbone of Yes.. He used much of his own material for the band as a whole.

Also, the lyrics to You By my side are very profound in my opinion... "Everything is As it Appears to be So" "I'm not the only one reaching for a new kind of wealth"

    JoTro Jacoisms

  • "Don't wait until he's dead" -- Good reasoning. Great performance. Anybody know who plays the other guitar ?

  • Billy Sherwood i think. Also played on "Open Your Eyes" & "Homeworld" by Yes.

  • The almighty chris squire, what a master.

  • will always be an amazing songs. well done fellows. as fresh as the day they were when first performed

  • This comes fron the "70's solo album Fish Out Of Water. After the YES Relayer album they all came out with solo albums. This one did well as did Jon Anderson's Olias of Sunhillow. Steve Howe had Beginnings, Alan White had Rumblefish and Patrick Moraz had I.

  • White had Ramshackled, that is.

  • It's all Chris init? Seeing and hearing him other than with Jon at his side is like witnessing an adultery of sorts. The guys in his chosen band are good but will always be on a bit of a loser.Chris seems to be bit ahead all the time.Made the Rickenbacker 4001 his signature sound along with perfect timing.About time the musical world gave him a medal.Don't wait until he's dead.Chris is a top bloke and a foundation. We need foundations or our houses would never grow.Sorry to witter on

  • Write it Chris, Sing it Chris, Play it Chris, Slap that little Beotch Jon - Chris, Eat sum Gumbo Chris, Tour the world Chris, Eat Clam Chowder Chris...

  • Sing it Chris! Play it Chris! This is one of the most beautiful songs/albums I've ever heard. I knew this song was complex, but watching him play and sing it just shows me just how much more complex it was than I thought. GET DOWN CHRIS!!!

  • Awesome Chris . A huge influence, the reason for my Ric.What a tone and don,t forget, his awesome vocals and song writing !.

  • this is fuckin awesome thanks for postin

  • That Toaster pickup has to be the best sounding pickup ever put on a bass period. :D

  • superb,powerful,driving...i expect nothing less of the man.

  • i discovered this solo album in my fathers old cd collection and i must admit i am quite pleased with it, but then again im very pleased with all of the yes works since their my favorite band of all time!!! lol

  • I get shivers with the pause at 6:45

  • no doubt

  • no doubt

  • @littlebuddyd So did I when I was playing keys. A magic moment

  • Now I can die. Thank you Chris.

  • Probably one of the most amazing Prog songs EVAR!!!

  • Rickenbacker - the ugliest bass ever - but what a sound - especially when Chris is playing it !

  • I think Rickenbackers are beautiful instruments, but that's just my opinion.

  • @CorvetteCoonass A Rick is not only beautiful, it also sound good, very very good

  • That is the best bass guitar tone ever ..period!

  • Does anybody know who the other musicians are (Sherwood apart) ?

Bruford and Moraz were SO good on "Fish out of water"! IMHO, with that line-up it can be considered a Yes album in its own right. My favourite, actually.

  • greg lake,

  • Chris Squire is THE BEST living bass player on this planet

  • I am not worthy.........

  • Dear God, I never thought I would hear this live! The 1975 video with the orchestra was incredible!!!

  • Still got his voice too

  • What an amazing musician......Thanks for all the great music over the years Chris,God Bless............

  • its nice to see a bass player besides geddy lee thats an important member of a band.

  • that's a ridiculous statement.

  • last time i checked the bass player was the foundation of every band

  • Amen brother

  • What the hell is this footage from? This is fantastic.

  • For me, the most important member of Yes.

  • Chris sings so well. This song has a lot of swing.

  • Thanks to all and good new year

  • HOly sh.t he sounds the same as he did in 75!!

  • I just LOVE this song.....

  • this is the only non-studio version of this ive heard, it was great. and i like how squire smiled at the end! 8>)

  • he still sound great..wow!!

  • Jeez... Squire.

    I love that guy.

  • hello, they had downloaded from the site of billy (cospiracy). 7 songs were videos. now there are no more. 4 I have them published. if you want to download them from you tube are also other 3.me think that they can not be marketed.

  • Can't believe I just listened to a 9 min song twice consecutively. Always loved these songs but they're now more complete with Billy's guitar. I must have this playing in my car! Where can I find it?

  • this song is from his 1975 solo album "Fish Out of Water" It was a damn good LP. Easy enough to find on Amazon and other places.

  • Thanks for replying, but that's not where you'd find this version. This is a newer version that apparently was not released. I have the original 1975 record and yes it is indeed fantastic.

  • Thanks very much for replying, but that's not where you'd find this version. This is a newer recording with Billy Sherwood that apparently wasn't released. I do have the original record and yes it is indeed fantastic.

  • Great song, i prefer bruford´s drum sound but this version is amazing also. A great hug for you Chris and we hope you can come on tour with Yes to Perú again.

  • I have a question, when did they go to Perù? Just wondering.

  • He looks like Ian, Spinal Tap's manager! LOL

  • excellent tone

  • Thanks Chris! and thanks to everyone involved in making this performance happen! I've been listening to Fish Out Of Water for years and years, and I thought everyone's forgotten all about these amazing songs! For me, this truly captures the spirit of the original recording. Stellar performance guys!!

  • awesome top caliber bass playing. This is how a bass should be played! Thank you for the awesome music Chris!

  • Holy crap, pushing 60 and his voice is holding up well. Of course the bass has always been there.

  • AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Chris is the Best at what he does period!

  • NOBODY plays the bass like Chris Squire! He IS the best....

  • Yeaah!

  • Right on.

  • Sweet, but Sherwood's voice and guitar work should be lower in the mix as it is distracting to say the least =/

  • OK...It's official.

I must learn to play every note of this.

Miguelbass, thank you for bringing this wonderful music back to me.

loryyy69, thank you for posting this video.

    Peace to all~

  • This was one of the pinnacles of my life as a keyboard player. Getting to play Andrew Jackman's organ parts and the piano on "You By My Side" was an absolutely breathtaking experience! MS

  • And it was brilliantly done. I love the keyboard work on Hold Out YOur Hand. And if I am not mistaken, Billy played the Rhodes part on guitar. Great rhytmic interplay. Congratulations and thank you for the Music.

  • OK...It's official.

I must learn to play every note of this.

Miguelbass, thank you for bringing this wonderful music back to me.

loryyy69, thank you for posting this video.

    Peace to all~

  • These two songs are great!! Squire is probably my favorite bass player

  • I love "you by my side"!!!!!!!!!!

  • Donde hay Lucky seven?

  • This is why Chris Squire is important. He makes the electric bass guitar sound like a voice, something that can talk. Every note is a speech.

  • Who's the drummer??
