This show never gets old. I'm 31 now and still know all the songs thats how great this show was can't wait for the movie. Hmm now I guess I will go watch the dvds love having the whole collection.
Why do people have to go directly to shipping? Especially same sex on a kids show? I have no problem with the concept in reality, but this show was about love amongst friends and how we need to love everyone
@CelineK18: "Why...shipping?" 'Tis just cute, I guess. But really, given the amount of hints in the show (The Treasure of the Fraggles, The Bells of Fraggle Rock, The Challenge, Red's Sea Monster, The Grapes of Generousity, Red's Blue Dragon, Mirror Mirror, Let the Water Run, and countless other episodes) & a recent 2010 interview ("You know sometimes, Gobo & me, we kind of compete...but I guess I really admire Gobo, but that's a secret"), I'd back Red/Gobo, if I had to back anything.
@TherealRNO That's true and I have no prob with that kind of innocent love, it's just when people start shipping. I find a difference between shipping and seeing a cute relationship.
@CelineK18: Well, that's the trigger...Often romantic in nature, shipping itself can be cute, ugly, or even downright perverted. It just depends on the mindset of the people driving the boat, as it were. In my case, shows like Fraggle Rock are the "cute" sort, no matter the ship sailed, but for some ships, they can be cute as well as ugly and perverted (ex: Titans' BB & Rae, since they can have cute moments, but also have ugly and perverted moments due to their dark sides).
@CelineK18: Most of the time, I would agree. In the case of the Fraggles, for example, I agree. But then again, the Fraggles ARE "family" with the Muppets & Sesame Street and we KNOW Piggy has lusted after Kermit, even as a baby (see the dream sequence in Muppets Take Manhattan & Muppet Babies as a series). Still, Jim has said that TMS were for adults, SS for kids (despite Oscar & Grungetta and Elmo & Zoe [the latter confirmed by their performers...sort of]), & FR for the middle ground.
@FigmentsFan: Not really. Gobo and Mokey are just good friends. Friendship doesn't automatically transfer to romantic feelings. Besides, given that she's the eldest and loves music and art, I wouldn't put it past Mokey to actually become a Minstrel, working with Cantus in the future (were the show to have a future).
@TherealRNO The same can be said about Gobo and Red, despite the SFX interview which I don't think can really be taken as anything considering it happened outside the realm of the universe and San Diego ComiCon. And my concern about this is that final part of the scene, since that's usually something reserved for romantics.
Also, why are we arguing again? That comment was posted 6 months ago and we came to an impasse: we both think different things and nobody can force the others' viewpoints.
@FigmentsFan: The issue I have with the end of the scene is that the Fraggles in general are a loving species, so really, they can love without having a romantic link. The romantic stuff is typical "silly creature" thinking and logic interpreting what could very well just be a very caring species.
I'd say this was the definitive Gobo x Mokey episode and "The Lost Treasure of Fraggle Rock" was the definitive Gobo x Red episode. Since both were from Season 1 I guess Jim Henson was wise enough to foresee shipping wars and decided to keep the boy friend/girlfriend stuff to a minimum. Though there were several Red x Mokey episodes....
Yeah, Gobo and Mokey are definitely going to get together.
Either that or have a big fight and Mokey goes off and becomes Red's lover. In the episode where they become roommates, you can really hear the lesbian sexual tension between them.
@glitteringobsession: Yeah. Even with Bunsen & Beaker, the Muppeteers clearly say that they're just good friends, and with Bert & Ernie, they're roommates akin to the Odd Couple. Most of the relationships are heterosexual, it would seem (the pig & frog, the hen & alien weirdo, two grouches [Oscar & Grungetta], two little monsters [Elmo & Zoe...although this would be more cute than anything else, although both Kevin Clash & Fran Brill have said that Zoe was Elmo's female counterpart], et al).
@Grover1234 - I think that is so cool. I love them too. Best show ever!!!! Mr. Jim Henson was a classic man with a great big heart full of colors. I am so glad that he was there to show be how to just be a good kid growing up. I miss him and his great work.
@Grover1234 makes me remember how good it was to be young, my only worry was getting home from school fast enough to watch this, we didnt have dvr or ipods, so we had to run fast, so we didnt miss it!
@onemarilynfan yep nothing to stop time as my friend says when he pauses his dvr. i don't remember much of the first season being i would have been either 2 or 3 when it first aired but still glad i got to grow up watching the reat of the other seasons on HBO as well as reruns on The Disney Channel.
What I want to know is how Gobo hurt his leg in the first place. When I first saw this I wanted to give him a hug :(

@TherealRNO I see your point. I guess what i was going for was not liking when people pervert perfectly innocent ships or shows. ^_^

What an amazing duet. As an adult, I think this song reminds me of Kris Kristofferson style country.
