Drew wants INNOVATION, EXCITEMENT, and nothing repetitive, like the games most developers are now consecutively creating. And I don't think he was talking JUST about SR3, he mentions what he feels is wrong with GTA, GranTurismo, and Street Fighter. Final Fantasy tried to change things up in Final Fantasy 13 and that didn't go to well for the fans, personally I actually like FF13, I just miss having airships and being able to go anywhere I wanted like in FF7, or FF8 which used a whole fucking school as an airship lol, But yeah, I see were your coming from Drew. Rayman Origins is seriously pretty great. I didn't want to play it at first because it didn't seem like the ones I was used to on N64 back in the day. But then I realized that the demo was on PSN and I downloaded it yesterday and within 15 minutes, I was at Wal-Mart buying the game.

You should try it Drew. Download the demo from PSN. Everyone else reading this too, I bet you'll like it. =)

I think it depends on how your looking at it. do you want them to innovate what it is, or how it happens? i dont see how shooters can change besides story/motive. And in defense of street fighter, they all have diff mechanics to add more depth.sf alpha had ISMs, sf3 had parries, sf4 has focus attack and ultras, and sf x tekken will have 2 on 2s, and character gem customization. these all change how the game plays, but what your doing (my character vs yours, and we fight) is essentially the same.

I thought Brink was innovative, and look at how badly the population shit on it. I was literally playing with the same people in ranked matchmaking day to day 2 moths after launch because it was so unpopular. Turns out people didn't want an edgy and fresh buy, they wanted a safe and familiar buy.
