Hit the nail right on the head. It's from Zeitgeist. They're explaining in that part that when the sun rose every morning, people thought the sun rays looked like a "crown of thorns". And Zeitgeist explains how supposedly thats how people "made up" the story of jesus christ. That through christianity we are really worshipping the Sun. Its crazy deep, and can be confusing. But if youre interested and have time you should search Zeitgeist and watch it.
