I think the problem is they wrote songs when Vibeke was with them with Vibeke in mind. Now Mary is so different their new stuff will probably be different and written with her vocal style in mind too. Doesn't Mary worse or better, just different.

They didn't want to hire soprano - that was the only condition they had, but Mary can sing old songs but not in the way Vibeke did it, it is not so bad for the rock vocalist - most of girls of rock style of singing couldn't even think of tryin walking in Vibekes shoes.
I like Mary, she has a powerful voice and she adds different meaning to the songs. She is different which is what the band wanted, and she can do a combo of classical and powerful metal vocals.

You're absolutely right. Vibeke's best asset (aside from the sheer beauty of her voice) is that she can make an emotional connection with a song. Not only is she quite versatile vocally, but everytime she sings you feel as though she's written the words herself. Her voice comes from deep within and though it may not be the most powerful or express the most range, there are some who are more popular who fail to connect with the listener. In that respect, Vibeke is like no other.

Las canciones están creadas para voz de soprano, no para una pop o como quiera que se le pueda llamar al estilo de Mary. Creo que deberían escuchar a sus fans y evolucionar tomándolos en cuenta. La inmensa mayoría prefiere a Vibeke, luego entonces debieron haber contratado a otra soprano para suplirla.

I think the problem is they wrote songs when Vibeke was with them with Vibeke in mind. Now Mary is so different their new stuff will probably be different and written with her vocal style in mind too. Doesn't Mary worse or better, just different.

LOLWUT. Tristania's intention was to find a singer that DOES NOT sound like Vibeke. Mary has very different voice but does this make her a bad singer? She's just not soprano, lol. How can you even compare two voices that have nothing in common and yet both are amazing. I love Vibeke and I loved the old Tristania, but nothing's comming back.

@deathsisor Bueno ps la verdad Widow's Weed y Beyond The Veil fueron excelentes albumes..kisas los mejores de Tristania pero Morten dejo Tristania y vinieron World Of Glass, Ashes e Illumination que tambien fueron increibles...asi que para mi la salida de Vibeke es mucho mas significativa que la de Morten, ya que sin el Tristania siguio haciendo buena musica, pero sin Vibeke Tristania ya no es nada

@yamih1993 mary sirve para una banda de rock. solo tiene que cantar las canciones como ella pueda, y no como las haya cantado antes vibeke. La imitacion no es buena cuando una banda cambia de vocalista de una manera tan radical. el ejemplo más claro es nightwish. al comienzo anette queria cantar las canciones como las cantaba tarja, pero luego se dio cuenta que no funcionaba y ahora las canta a su manera y le quedan genial.

Close minded with bad quality videos and a comparisson that can only be ignored and not taken seriously. I like both singers all the same, Vibeke is better at some songs and Demutras better at some others (especially Lotus wich is also my fav song of the band). Try harder..

Es absurdo compararlas. creo que es obvia la diferencia, Vibeke te hacia bibrar con cada nota y esta chica Mary no produce ninguna emocion en mi.

Bem, Mary é uma boa cantora, porém, acho que ela não se encaixa nas músicas antigas do Tristânia, comparando com Vibeke, esta é MUITO superior.

They didn't want to hire soprano - that was the only condition they had, but Mary can sing old songs but not in the way Vibeke did it, it is not so bad for the rock vocalist - most of girls of rock style of singing couldn't even think of tryin walking in Vibekes shoes.

I like Mary, she has a powerful voice and she adds different meaning to the songs. She is different which is what the band wanted, and she can do a combo of classical and powerful metal vocals.
Seriously I don't see what the issue is.
I adore both vocalists but my fangirling gets the best of me, Mary is my choice.

You're absolutely right. Vibeke's best asset (aside from the sheer beauty of her voice) is that she can make an emotional connection with a song. Not only is she quite versatile vocally, but everytime she sings you feel as though she's written the words herself. Her voice comes from deep within and though it may not be the most powerful or express the most range, there are some who are more popular who fail to connect with the listener. In that respect, Vibeke is like no other.

Osea por ejemplo: Si yo fuera una de ellas (ya se que eso se dice fácil pero vamos a suponer), y la banda me pidiera que cantara para ellos sabiendo que la anterior vocalista canta exquisitamente y yo asquerosamente, como me atrevería a aceptar ese puesto tan grande y echar a perder la banda? Es natural que las bandas evolucionen y tengan cambios, pero no tan drásticos como el haber reemplazado una soprano de la calidad de Vibeke con una cantante pop como Mary. Las canciones están creadas para voz de soprano, no para una pop o como quiera que se le pueda llamar al estilo de Mary. Creo que deberían escuchar a sus fans y evolucionar tomándolos en cuenta. La inmensa mayoría prefiere a Vibeke, luego entonces debieron haber contratado a otra soprano para suplirla.

helloooo this is the same story as nightwish people. the band needs a new female singer and decides they want to go a diffrent way, and somehow fans are convinced they have thenright to decide what the band can and cannot do or to decide whats realy tristania or what realy nightwish. this band is doing what they like most and if its not what you want, dont listen to it. you dont have to like all the music thats made and bands shouldnt adjust their music to what we want
