it says "hey, brunette, who spiced? Gypsy girl, who spiced the smell of the clove? hey, brunette, who spiced? Gypsy girl, who spiced the colour of the cinnamon? The moon, brunette the dance of the wind the belly of the night and the sun of the dawn the rain, gypsy girl the dance of the rivers the honey of the cocoa the sun of the dawn" You see... no football... man...... I love this song so much... haha... and people reduce it to football.. haha........ man
my god... foreigners' opinion about brazilian music is funny haha.......... I listen to this song since I was a kid and I never ever ever associated it with football....... cause it has no link with football at all haha........ man....... This song is so deep...... haha.. man......
This is very very good, the really brasilian song!!!
hey just a correction: the picture you got there is wrong. the version you have uploaded is from the record "milton" (raça) from 1976, which did have herbie hancock on piano, and other guest stars on the album. the cover on your video is from o clube da esquina from 1972, which also had cravo e canela, but in a more psychedelic, non-jazz version. anyway, cheers! cravo e canela means "carnation and cinnamon" in which he asks who spiced the carnation's smell and the cinnamon's color?
From the book "Gabriela, Cinnamon and Clove" by Jorge Amado. Old, but a good read.

@rsinatra - "Cravo" in Portuguese also means clover. Here it's "clover and cinnamon", two spices. Cheers.

In English the song is called "Cinnamon and Clove". Why did your little brother call this song the football song? I'm curious about that.
