I worked at a call center doing customer service for Bush's prescription drug card program (which was basically an expensive government-funded supermarket discount card). If you were totally dirt poor, you got a slightly higher percentage saving, but you still couldn't afford the drugs, so it didn't help. And everyone got a discount, even millionaires, who were the most insistent that the government help them out (and held out their hands for medicare as well)

Demanding that Americans get health care from employers creates a situation in which Americans must appeal to an employer like a date. The employee must remain healthy (cute) and perky (young) and not have too much baggage (not cause the employer's health care rates to rise because of preexisting conditions) otherwise it's "Maybe we should start seeing other people. or I'm just not that in to you" And when this happens, you have sick and aging people being disenfranchised from health care.
I say we sue the entire health care industry and make them pay for single payer. Everything they have done to people would be considered a crime in any other business or if any individual were to cause so many deaths through some kind of product. These people are criminals of the worst kind.
Exxon and Big Oil are behind Americans for Prosperity. Don't you think it is questionable that a major polluter wants to see the sick disenfranchised from health care, health problem documentation, etc. They are doing it because this system enables them to poison Americans much easier without a means to prove damages and to stay alive to do it for that matter.

Where there isn't a monopoly, insurance companies price fix with each other. Since 2000, Insurance companies have gone from paying out 95% of thier intake to claims to around 80%. Coincidentally, thier profits have quadrupled. from 1.9 billion to 8.2 billion anually. They are consolidating. bust em!
