oh man, imagine how screwed that salmon was - a big hook in it's mouth attached to a line which a man is pulling on, and a sea lion chomping the crap out of it at the same time!
i hear ya mate see them washed up on my beach front with a bullet wound all the time....stealing the fish they get the bullet. sad yet i love my coho and king in the puget sound.....whuddya do.
Beautiful! Thanks for not being one of those stupid dolt fishermen who thinks they have the right to kill a sea lion over its natural prey. Thanks for seeing the awesome joy and energy in that scene, and appreciating nature for what she is. It was beautiful, and you are cool to share that footage with us.
Ya but if you look at it naturally they dont have to really hunt anymore. they just have to follow a boat and wait for a hook rather than chase after the fish themselves. Im a fisherman as well and if you watch they just throw the fish of the hook and go after the next line. they are just sea racoons now.
damn a seal attacked my smelt net the other day and peoples should shoot these things right away. they are a nasty nuisance and should be slaughtered and their penis sold to the chinese
Why are you shooting a sea lion? He is fishing the same as you, with a big difference: he fish to live, you fish to play. I'm a fisher too, and as a fisher, I like to respect the environment, and the sea lion is part of the environment
The problem is that sea lion numbers are not being held to a natural, sustainable level because of overprotective regulations and lack of natural predators.
The person who thinks there is a problem "because of overprotective regulations and lack of natural predators"? Nonsense. Humans are not natural predators of sea lions, and they do not need us to manage them. They are in balance. It is we who keep over-harvesting the salmon.
good !!

We hate them here too. Pier fishing hasen't been the same. They get real big on Newport jetty. I was chased up the rocks to safety.
