John Penton is the man that 40 years ago change the way to perform a new sport named motocross or enduro.
He required and invented this new kind of bike: the Penton KTM, a 2 strokes motor, very light and powerfull bike, that impose a new way to race. He was a mentor and pilot, and thanks to him, in the 1970ies a small austrian moped factory named KTM, become the great worldwide well knew firm that we know now. Ciao.

He originally was using a Sachs motor I believe, he didn't always use the KTM's motor, he was switching parts and stuff around to make "Penton". He generally took the bike and modified it in any way (suspention, engine, etc.) to make it better. I heard he may have even used a Rotax motor at some point
Generally, people just explain that in the 70s KTMs were being sold as Pentons (Slap a Penton sticker on the side).
Cool Enjoy

Is this a ktm engine design?
did some have rotax disc valve engines?
Is this a motocross tune engine or more mellow?
ie is it a peaky screaming beast or a managable thing?
I like the screaming beast idea best!
nice bike.

Pentons have a reputation similar to Maico, They are supposed to be wicked bikes.
In 1977, John Penton sold all rights to KTM.
