  • The tuning is quite similar to Corley, though Corley's fourth sounds slightly sharp as well at the tenor

  • @irkibby It is quite similar. I wonder whether they have been deliberately tuned to these notes or if this is more by accident? These are a nice five and the effect in changes is nicer than in rounds I think. The structure of the tower and bellframe inside is fascinating.

  • errr??

  • 1: Barwell, Birmingham, 1907, 4.5 cwt

    2: John Pennington I, Monmouth, 1663, 5 cwt 3:

Abraham Rudhall II, Gloucester, 1731, 5.75 cwt

    4: John Pennington I, Monmouth, 1663, 5.25 cwt

5: John Pennington II, Monmouth, 1679, 10 cwt in B flat

  • very weird.... whats up with the tenor!

  • don't sound very pleasent do they lol not bad though, part from that sharp tenor. I like bells tha you have to pull because then you have got more controll than ones you just give slight twitch and the bell rings it self

  • I think the tone is remarkably clean for old bells it's just a shame about the tenor - though who knows if it's meant to be like that! And I agree about bells you have to pull, these won't ring themselves!

  • They are a ground floor ring and aren't bad to handle, they go well but need a little more pull than normal!

  • Very nice. I like unusual towers. Was it a g/f ring? What were they like to handle?
