  • one word......SERATO

  • But if will put a demo video to show it may be more clear!

  • Are u talking bout syncing? What I think is syncing after watching this video! But

  • Takes the fun out of mixing (blending) makes things too easy, more fun doing it buy ear!

  • how about something like a LED on volume sliders? say if you're using 2 volumes, when both colors are the same it's matched. You could then theoretically have three colors for slower, matched and faster. Also if there 3, 4 or more sliders you could use the light display for a quick bpm reference or use it to match 2 or more tracks. Would also make the sliders glow in the dark

  • to see that on a mixer would be brill i rekon the new djm2000 should of had it as an extra effect and a usb camera input so you can edit the video and have it going out to big screen :D

  • this is on the behinger djx 700 4 channel mixxer

verry smart idea i use it allot

    grtz verry good vids

  • they also have this in the numark ns7.

  • This a really cool concept but I think Steve (original founder/owner) of Intimidation conceptualized this over a decade ago. But if it was to be anyway, it would have been him. It was if I remember correctly going to use the same base isolation circuitry from his mixers to improve the BPM counting response (99.9% of the mixers on the market are bogus for BPM count) so it would tune itself in to the dominant bass attack and from there some more electronic magic to do this.

  • behringer did somthing similar to this on the dmx 100

  • Did see a mixer in china som time ago that had all sorts of build in digital filtering (probably for karaoke).

And in good old chinese manufacturing style.... the button that enabled low frequency filtering was labeled "beat of"

  • Nowdays it should be fairly trivial to make a "auto beat sync" button...

Say you got one button on each side of the mixer and pressing the left button would sync the left dec to the bpm of the other dec, and algorithmically work out on the fly a "pitch map" to keep the tracks consistently in beat.

  • isnt that what digital dj is for ?

  • the djx 700 already has it

  • Quelqu'un va une fois dire à ce type qu'il est un immense blaireau?

  • a talented Dj can mix with ANY mixer

  • numark has this built in the cdn 88

  • You are an idiot thats a nother way for losers to mix. Real djs use only ears thats the art mate.

  • no its not

  • I have to agree with you 100%

  • ok now build it lool

  • Serato does this so i dont think you will get the copyright :/

  • i don't know of a mixer that does that, but i think you can use visuals to beatmatch in serato.

  • i have the KAM KSP150 with beat offset and it does what this is saying basically it has 2 red leds 2 orange leds and 1 green led ok and when its on any of the 2 red lights its out of time f its in any of the orange leds its almost in time if its green its perfect there are 2 red and orange ones for the left turntable and the same for the right turntable and then the green in the middle and theres 1 lit on each side for each turntable pretty nifty stuff.

and i have bpm counters next to em aswell

  • props

interesting idea you have there and I get exactly what you're saying. I can suggest some improvements but would rather keep them off the boards if you ever decide to take your idea to a boardroom meeting.

  • good idea

  • I got this meeean device.....It's called my ears, they do this for me. More practice and yours will too.... Practice an enjoy lol.

  • Perfectly said m8!! The art of Dj'ing in my opinion revolves around one talent and that is listening to two choons and getting them in beat i,e, the Art of listening!! Its not about watching stuff or bringing the pitch down just because the other cdj says so..

  • I've got an idea, I made a video of it, and I will upload it right now. But I don't know this is a problem: it's an idea for a turntable, not for a mixer.

    ~Kevin JB

  • I may make a video response for this, but I think a better thing would be an arrow, and a dot. The arrow will tell you what needs to be done to match the other side. (so if the left side says up, the right will say down.) The dot then refers to the actual syncing of the initial first beat of the measure.

Line up the arrows using one side or both, using the pitch slider, then use the wheel to sync the actual initial beat and you can be matched with any two songs in around 10 seconds.

  • And after looking at brian's laughable behringer piece(which theoretically does this, but in reality was suffering), obviously others have thought of this, but they can't seem to pull it off right. Even mixmeister has to be guided alot to make sure the computer picks the right first beat per measure as often it gets it wrong.

The mixers and players will all be usb synced in a few years anyway. Constant automatic beat matching standard.

    (Learn to produce or die.)

  • if you have a digital numeric bpm read out for each turntable that would be a more precise visual indicator than a dot just above or below a line...it just seems that they both serve the same function ..are you going to set the bpm with a tap button?

  • i have a Behringer mixer with something like this on it look on there website its a vmx100 or something

  • Tracktor Dj the computer program does this but the feature sucks and doesnt work well at all.

  • this thing it calls sync, for syncronizing the beats, it already exist...:D

  • That kinda takes most of the skill out of beat mixing

  • If the BPM was the same on both 'cdjs' etc. it could still be out of beat !!

  • i think it´s a good idea but just for people who don´t really care about the art of mixing, i mean that would help things to much, it would too easy, thats why some dj´s are so good at what they do because they can mix properly without any sort of digital help. mixing is an art that not everybody can do, remember that!

  • Crack addict finds vidoe camera part 1

  • The idea is quite good (and may well work) but it doesn't get my vote on the basis of it defeating the object of mixing in the first place. If you can't beatmatch then you may as well use computer software that will digitally beatmatch the music for you and use a plug in mixer to control the software for cueing and mixing. Not needing things like this is what makes professional Dj's so good at what they do.

  • dont u think that just makes things to simple i think that peaople should take the time and learn how to mix not look at what your mixer is telling u to do i mean when do u stop adding to the mixer when it brings the next one in for u at some point it will just go to far and the art of mixin will be dead??

  • I love Your High End Paper Mixer Hhahah!!!

  • I am not going into the bad or the good about "visual beatmatching" (Did own a cdn90), but here is my idea (We'll split the money later), instead of having that slider on the mixer, you would have a control cable that goes from the turntable/cd player to mixer, and you will in fact use the pitch slider direct on the tt/cd player the information will be relied by cable to your display on the mixer.

  • serato, they have visual graph thing, one for the left and right turntable on the display. look it up

  • yes i have seen it, but by doing a video like this is good as it gets people talking ans sharing information. THANKS JOHNATHAN

  • that's a good idea, esp for beginners. The thing I'm thinking right now, is that maybe it'd be better to reverse the way the dot is going up/down. I mean, you pitch up, the dot goes from TOP to DOWN. Just to completely reflect the movement of the pitch slider, you know.

  • That's sorta like the program I use to mix on, it has a vitual graph of the beats and also BPM counters that move with the pitch control. It also has a beat-match button, but it's useless.

  • you have so many good ideas its amazing. you should patent some of your ideas and make a fortune :D

  • if only, apparently this has been done, but not to this extent.

  • Patented 10 years ago for Numark and in many Numark products. Called a beatkeeper, it exists in the DM1235, DM1635, DM1885 mixers and CDN-88, CDN90, and CDN-95 dual CD players that actually automatically mix for you.

  • amazing idea..

  • thats all good but i used to use a beat counter when i first started but soon found out my ears where better.

  • I tried to post a video responce but do not know if it worked. Check it out on my page

  • Good idea...kinda like a "level"...you know when ya gotta get the bubble in the centre to make sure it's completely level.

  • That's it!!! you got it dude. For the beginer it would make life so easy!!

  • great idea, but why not have the dot moving the same direction as the pitch control

  • sorry...it does doesn't it. Next time I'll watch sober

  • good idea but how would the pitch on the mixer control the pitch on the turntable did i miss something my pioneer mixer has bmp counter for both channels and i can just watch that if i need..

im not sure how i feel on things making easier to mix i some what want to the new dj's to learn to hear it with ears and there feet or even there butt lol

    but great idea as always

  • It would work by digitally recognising the beat and changing that to a watchable screen. Yes i do agree, use your ears, but for the new dj it would be a god send, it get them going!

  • Traktor 3 has it also, but as you said it would be nice if it can be availabe with the mixer.

  • Ellaskins where do u buy your vinyl from cos i buy them from a world wide music store(duno if a can say) but is it a gd idea 2 buy od the net plz reply ps your vids r gr8 keep them comeing

  • You buy you'r toons where you can! at he end of the day the web now is like the shop next door!!

  • yer nice i would get 1

  • I don't know if there is a gear available ... but the atomix mp3 or virtual DJ from the first version till the last one, have theese features...

  • Good!, but don't think any mixer does.

  • I can't tell you that... I hope there is not a mixer that does that because I would really like to see you hit it with your idea

  • it's great man, I would buy it.

  • This seems a bit of the same idea as the "beat offset" on the JBsystems BEAT4 mk2. It's not the same though, so maybe you could email pioneer prodj or numark or whatever. Make sure you have it patented though!
