I adopted an amazing cat from PAWS Chicago just months ago. She's a senior and was so sick when she was found on the snowy Chicago streets that she couldn't breathe. PAWS took her in, spent 3 months (and I'm sure lots of money) getting her healthy before putting her up for adoption. Sick seniors aren't very adoptable, so most shelters don't bother. I'm grateful PAWS did. She's a great cat!

I would disagree with you on one point. I donate to no-kill shelters; HOWEVER, I will ONLY adopt at a kill-shelter.
